(OOC: @drumdigby - Two rules quibbles with post #5027:
Since Ellesarwa is still restrained, her DEX save vs. Lightning Bolt should be at disadvantage.
RAW, Entangle only restrains creatures who are in the AoE when the spell is cast. Unlike Web, the spell does not restrain creatures who enter the AoE for the rest of the duration. It just creates difficult terrain for them.
You all are up, Matron Elessarwa is looking really rough. Avery, Khessa, and Asclepius are in melee with the drow. While everyone but Syllen are in melee with either a Giant Spider or the Shadow Demon.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Giant Spider 1 Bite against Xanrym: Attack: 21 Damage: 6 Piercing and 11 Poison Giant Spider 2 Bite against Theldrin: Attack: 24 Damage: 4 Piercing and 5 Poison Shadow Demon Umbral Claw against Theldrin Attack: 11 Damage: 21 Psychic
With the current rolls, it sounds like Theldrin was not hit at all, but Xanrym definitely was. Therefore, Xanrym is the one who should have made a saving throw for concentration.
The Matron's final attacks against Avery both miss as she slumps over in the entangling vines and webs, dead. Muvaysil let's out a silent scream of rage.
(OOC: Looks like the spider's attack would have hit... much less damage but I guess if we're going with how the forum mangled the original rolls, then yeah let's say Theldrin used Shield anyway.)
Xanrym fails to drive away the giant spider, but he's sure that he'll soon have help once The Company finishes off their main target. He briefly cheers when he sees Ellesarwa fall, but the cheer turns into a scream as the spider bites him again, worse than last time: "Huzzah! Nice shot, Corianaaaaahhhh!!!"
CON saving throw: 7 - Xanrym loses concentration on Silence
Avery and Khessa, fighting the drow priestess in Silence hear the end of Xanrym's scream as the spell ends. Realizing that Muvaysil will now be able to use his magic, Xanrym desperately says, "Quick! Kill the wizard before he can cast a spell!" He knows that he cannot simply put Silence back in place: if the others are focused on Muvaysil, he will need to deal with this giant spider first.
Xanrym glares at the spider, saying, "The priestess is dead, and you will soon follow her!" Then he casts the same spell as before, hoping that it is demoralized enough to flee. Then he takes equips his spear, just in case.
Movement: If the giant spider moves away from him, then Xanrym hurries over toward the north end of the room, hoping that Khessa, Avery, and Asclepius will help be able to help him with the spider if it comes right back. Bonus Action: Use Unsettling Words against the Giant Spider. The Giant Spider must subtract 4 from the next saving throw it makes before the start of Xanrym's next turn. Action: Cast spell (LVL 1 slot) Dissonant Whispers against the Giant Spider WIS 20 save (including adjustment for Unsettling Words) or take 14 psychic damage and immediately use its reaction to safely move as far as its speed allows away from Xanrym. On a successful save: 7 psychic damage and no forced movement. Free Action: Talking, equip his spear

(OOC: Xanyrm's movment, as described, assumed that the spider would move to the east of Xanrym. But if the spider instead just moves north, Xanrym would move east, past Asclepius and toward Syllen.)

The arc of magical electricity that linked the tall adventuress to the priestess of Lolth dies along with its target.
"She who commanded you is dead. Send the demon away and live" Khessa threatens Muvaysil, her blue eyes icy with determination. "Or, just keep fighting us" she shrugs "and die."
While waiting for the drow wizard to decide, she is determined to show him what can happen, aiming a new arc of lightning-fast magical energy at him—and positioning herself so she can begin impaling him with the Pike, just as she had just finished doing to the cruel matron.
[[ OOC: Khessa uses her Action to cast Witch Bolt at Muvaysil, her Movement, if needed, to place herself in a position from which she can impale him with her 10'-reaching Pike. ]]

Avery is Restrained by the Web only then. Rerolling Elessarwa DEX Save: 21
(OOC: @Aaggie - Don't forget that Avery has Extra Attack now that we're level 5. He should be making 2 attacks per turn.)
Theldrin will use a Reaction to cast Shield, blocking the Shadow Demon's attack.
(OOC: that post says the rolls were manipulated, I think I saw earlier that the demon's attack hit and the spider's didn't?)
(OOC: this whole post is OOC, but I wanted it in the game thread since it'll help resolve round 2.)
Ah! Then I guess I should ask @drumdigby whether there's an alternate version of post #5030 that he's using to account for the opponents' actions.
With the current rolls, it sounds like Theldrin was not hit at all, but Xanrym definitely was. Therefore, Xanrym is the one who should have made a saving throw for concentration.
Ahh, it showed me different results before. Theldrin isn't hit, but Xanrym needs to roll his save.
