Coriana - Company of the Grey Chain Wagner - Dragon Heist: Bards. DM - The Old Keep
(OOC: @drumdigby - Does the hall curve enough or the walls uneven enough or are there enough people between Xanrym and drider #1, for Xanrym to move to a position this round where he will have Three-Quarters Cover or Total Cover from drider #1?
To be clear, Xanrym is looking for both cover from the drider's poison burst attack and also a spot where he can attempt to hide from the monster.)
Khessa is surprised by the arrival of the driders... as well as by the bard's impulsive suggestion. "No way" she replies calmly, gently placing the gnome on the ground. "The driders saw us. They must die."
The blonde arcane warrior worriedly notices that, as she was setting down her 'load,' the still-fighting drider attempted to target Xanrym. Something must be done, quickly. She urges the others: "Out of the web as soon as possible, so we can burn it."
Meanwhile, with the web between her and the enemies who could entangle her if she tries to pass, and with several friends in the web making burning it inadvisable, the tall adventuress utters esoteric syllables of power, causing her outline to become Blurry.
[[ OOC: Khessa uses her Action to cast Blur on herself - now the driders' attacks against her should have Disadvantage. ]]
Theldrin aims rays of fire at the Drider that isn't hypnotized, then moves through from the webbing, ducking around the tunnel bend near Xanrym, out of the Drider's view.
(OOC: I think that movement works even with Difficult Terrain the first 2 squares. Also if it seems like Syllen is casting Entangle would try to coordinate for possible Advantage on attacks)
Also if it seems like Syllen is casting Entangle would try to coordinate for possible Advantage on attacks
(OOC: @werelemur - You should probably just say that Theldrin readies his spell and casts it as soon as Syllen takes his action. Of course, that means that Theldrin has to move first, but as long as he doesn't end up behind Total Cover, he should be able to target the Drider.)

(OOC: /me just trying to work out what that means if the Drider is restrained by Syllen's spell before Theldrin's spell triggers:
Xanrym can move around the corner to get away from the Drider.
Round 2: Xanrym
The first poison burst hits Xanrym and sends him reeling. Thankfully, that made the other two blasts fly over his head, and Xanrym is able to maintain concentration on his spell and keep one of the monsters hypnotized. But as the poison takes effect, he thinks that his most important contribution to this fight will be to ensure that The Company does not have to face two of them at once! Xanrym takes out his crossbow. Then, staying low, he moves farther away from the fight and toward the eastern / southern wall until he finds a spot that's mostly out-of-view of Drider #1. He attempts to hide until the others kill the first one and start attacking the second one.
Movement: Move 30-ft away to find at least 3/4-cover from the Drider. Xanrym is now 60-ft away from Khessa's and Coriana's initial position and about 90-ft from Drider #1. Action: Hide - Stealth: 29 (advantage from Cloak of Elvenkind) Free Action: Equip crossbow.
(OOC: Heh. 29 Stealth! And his cloak also imposes disadvantage on Perception checks to spot him. I don't think that anyone is going to see Xanrym until he comes out of hiding.)
Xanrym, trying to avoid being targeted by the drider, moves away and tries to get out-of-sight. His cloak was made by the high elves, and perhaps its magic is especially potent when facing the servants of the Dark Seldarine. The cloak settles around Xanrym, blending with the natural stonework and making Xanrym practically disappear against the tunnel wall. He peers back toward his companions, trying to keep an eye on the fight with the Darkvision Syllen granted him.
Drider 1...then casts Web on you all as a Bonus Action:
Avery...needs to make a DC 14 DEX Save to see if you can prevent being restrained.
(OOC: @Aaggie - at the start of his turn, Avery needs to roll a DC 14 DEX save to see whether he's [condition]restrained[condition] by the drider's web. I think that Avery needs to move forward, out of the Web before he can attack the drider. See map below.
(OOC: I whipped up a quick map yesterday to help me figure out where Xanrym would be at the end of his turn in round 2. I know that Syllen is restrained by the web. Theldrin is not and moved out of the web in round 1. I'm not sure about anyone else. Since drider 1 made a ranged attack against Xanrym without disadvantage, I positioned it so no one is within 5-ft of it yet. Updated post to correct driders' position.)
