As another huge burst of fire engulfs the Otyugh, Xanrym feels awed by Theldrin's destructive power. Since the Otyugh is almost dead, Xanrym decides to try to finish it off so that everyone else can help Avery. He raises his crossbow and casts a spell to aid his aim and avoid hitting Coriana.
With the Otyugh dragging Coriana away and Khessa going to rescue her, Xanrym realizes that there's no one to prevent the Grick from chasing down Avery. Once he fires a bolt, Xanrym drops his crossbow. He grasps his spear, takes a deep breath, and moves toward the Grick! Xanrym calls to his friends, "Help! Form up! Avery can't hold off that giant worm any longer!" Xanrym wants to move just far enough south and east to put himself between Avery and the Grick. That is, wherever Avery ends his 30-ft of movement, Xanrym wants to be 5 or 10 feet away, in between Avery and the Grick. He's just trying to prevent the Grick from getting to Avery on its turn until Khessa and Coriana can come help.
Movement: After casting his spell, Xanrym moves to the southeast, toward the Otyugh and away from the Grick. Action: Cast a spell True Strike with Attack the Otyugh, Crossbow, Light (80/320): 9, Damage: 9 (radiant) Free Action: Talking. Drop crossbow. Equip his spear.

If it matters at all, I noticed just now that Khessa's attack on Round 1 should have dealt 3 magical slashing to the Otyugh in spite of the miss, because of the Graze property! So... if we take this into account... maybe Khessa did kill the Otyugh with her attack in Round 2? Or is it still standing, even with 3 more damage taken?

(OOC: @drumdigby - If 3 damage would have been enough to kill the Otyugh, I'm happy to let Xanrym's (disastrous) round 3 stand as written so that we don't have to undo any posts. You could just bring that graze damage forward to this round, and the Otyugh succumbs to its wounds and dies. Or you could say that Xanrym's crossbow bolt did hit, and that's what dropped it. I don't care as long as we can say that the Otyugh is dead before Coriana's turn! That way, Coriana and Asclepius can turn their attention to the Grick.)
Alright that seems fair. Everyone thought Khessa missed, but when it seems the Otyugh is lining up to slam Coriana to the ground, it keeps falling back, slamming into the ground dead. The horrible song drops from everyone’s minds.
Coriana still up. Xanrym faces down a Grick Ancient while the Gibbering Mouther is still restrained.
(OOC: Yep. Just to be clear, Xanrym should be ~25 feet away from the Grick. That could be important if Coriana manages to push the Grick a little farther away from us with her Repelling Blast. It's much easier to "face down" a monster that's too far away to hit you!)
Coriana grunts as the otyugh drops her to the ground, she stands and moves her hex to the grick, following it up with 2 eldritch blasts. she moves three squares to the northeast.

Khessa's heart skips a beat, when the Otyugh is about to slam Coriana's body to the ground like a washerwoman might do with a wet rag... but a sigh of relief escapes her lips when the monster instead falls to the ground.
"Everything ok?" the blonde arcane warrior asks her friend - but she answers in the most unequivocal way: by getting up and blasting the Grick! This, in Khessa's language, means: 'Yes, honey, thank you! Now get busy too, because we're still in bad company!'
The tall adventuress then quickly assesses the situation: the Gibbering Mouther is still blocked (which would make her tempted to give Syllen a kiss), while the Grick, although injured, is giving Asclepius problems... The most logical move then seems to be to try to finish the Grick! She comes a little closer, chanting an esoteric formula, and with an elegant wave of her rod, sends a beam of crackling energy towards the tentacled monster, forming a sustained arc of lightning between you and the target.
[[ OOC: Khessa uses her Movement to go straight east (or the right side of the map anyway) and her Action to attack with a Witch Bolt

"Finally..." Theldrin breathes a sigh of relief as he sees the Otyugh collapse and Coriana roll to her feet. He then follows Khessa's lead, noting the Gibbering Mouther seems to be still contrained, he moves up alongside her and aims a Fire Bolt at the Grick Worm.

Round 4: Xanrym
(From the end of round 3...) Xanrym clutched his spear in sweaty hands as he faced down the big, beaked worm-monster, standing alone in front of The Company. He was trying to convince himself that he was being brave, not foolhardy or suicidal, to intercept the creature so that it couldn't go after Avery again. He had just a moment to wonder whether Avery always feels this afraid when he's out in front of the The Company, using his body to shield the rest of The Company from troglodtyes and spiders and demons. Then, two beams of eldritch power leaped across the cavern to blast the worm back 20-ft, and Asclepius slithered past him to engage with the worm-monster. Xanrym glanced back to see that Coriana was on her feet and let out a brief cheer. But that cheer was cut short as the worm-monster turned its attacks on Asclepius, nearly ripping the snake apart! He says, "Coriana, dismiss Asclepius before that thing destroys them!"
Initially, Xanrym is about to follow Coriana's example and drive the worm [Tooltip Not Found], but then he realizes that that would make it harder for the rest of The Company to engage with it. Better to pin it down! Xanrym takes one hand off his spear and pulls out a carefully folded net from the side of his belt. He runs forward, trying to quiet the rising panic in his brain when he realizes how big the worm-monster is as he gets closer to it. Xanrym summons magic into his words, calling out, "A worm like you doesn't stand a chance against The Company that sent demons from the queen of spiders back to the Abyss!"
Just as Xanrym gets up to Asclepius (15-ft away from the Grick Ancient), he stops and spins, using his momentum to fling the net toward the Grick and twisting it open in a carefully-practiced throw so that the net opens wide as it soars toward the monster.
Movement: Move 30-ft toward the Grick. It looks like Xanrym can make it all the way to the near side of Asclepius, which puts him within 15-ft of the Grick. Bonus Action: Use Unsettling Words against the Grick. The Grick must subtract 5 from the next saving throw. (I'm incorporating that into the save DC below.) Action: Throw his Net at the Grick. The Grick must succeed on a DC 19 DEX saving throw or have the restrained condition until it escapes. Free Action: Talking. Item interaction: equip his net.
Round 4: Xanrym Bonus Action: Use Unsettling Words against the Grick. The Grick must subtract 7 from the next saving throw. (I'm incorporating that into the save DC below.) Action: Throw his Net at the Grick. The Grick must succeed on a DC 21 DEX saving throw or have the restrained condition until it escapes
(OOC: Nice time for a big Unsettling Words roll! If the Grick fails its DEX save, that would be a game-changer in this fight! Avery, Syllen, and Coriana would all have advantage on their attack rolls. And the Grick would either be fighting back with disadvantage or using its entire turn just to escape from the net.)
