Xanrym - You look around the corner to the north and see the hallway curve back around to the south.
As you all head to the west, you reach a T-Intersection, the grumbling sounds are coming from a room to the south, while the trail north is littered with bones, torn clothes, and blood. The low pitched voice stops as you enter the intersection, and you hear shuffling sounds coming towards you.
(OOC: do we have to enter the room to the south to see the mumbler? I'm sure that Xanrym and Theldrin, at least, will want to be out of melee range but still with line-of-sight to anything that can reach Avery.)
You'll be able to see the the creature from the path to the right, yet still be able to have the melee characters in front. If you engage in battle, i'll make sure the casters are at the back.
Avery is going to advance cautiously at the ready, until he can get a good look at the creature. "Everyone be ready, who knows what we'll find. So far, everything here is not what it appears in this town," he warns.
Xanrym holds his lantern high and gets ready to cast vicious mockery if any creature attacks Avery or Liarin. (If possible, he will ready an action to cast the spell.)
Theldrin looks around at the bones, torn clothes, and blood, nodding in reply to Avery, "Indeed..." He keeps back with Xanrym, waiting to see what happens before he decides what spell he might want to cast.
As Avery steps forward into the room to the south, he sees the creature grumbling to itself. The stench hits you first, not the decaying smell of the ghouls, but the stinking pewtche of feces and rotten meat. A two-headed giant-kin is standing in front of you, smaller than a real giant but twice your size, its two heads looking at you in evil pleasure. With two large tangled beards and four protruding teeth between them, they are a horrible sight to behold, an Ettin. The Ettin's two heads look at each other and say something stupidly wicked in Giantish, it then lifts it's axe and morningstar and goes to whack you.
I'll roll initiative for you all. Additionally Xanrym may cast Viscous Mockery as a Reaction this round due to his readied action:
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Xanrym wrinkles his nose at the stench. He says, "Phew! Two heads are better than one, but how the giant must suffer with two noses in this stench! Be a hero, Avery, and end its fetid torture!"
Movement: Keeping well back and trying to leave from for Avery and Liarin to retreat back into the hallway. Action: Cast spell Vicious Mockery, WIS 13 save or ettin takes damage (3 psychic) and has disadvantage on the next roll it makes before the end of its next turn. Bonus Action: Grant bardic inspiration to Avery. Avery can roll 1d6 once and add the number to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. Avery can wait until after he rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Bardic Inspiration, but he must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Free Action: Talking
(OOC: hopefully, Xanrym will debuff the ettin's first attack, and the bardic inspiration should make it easier for Avery to use the GWM bonus damage!)

"Well, with this things size there's at least room for me!"
Bonus Action: Wild Shape to Dire Wolf Move: Close to melee with the ettin after Avery does. Action: Bite: Attack: 12 Damage: 7 DC 13 Str save or knocked prone.

It is now incredibly cramped in this room. With a giant, a dire wolf and a fighter in here, no one can really move. While Liarin's wold claws find their target, Avery's blade is a little to long to wield comfortably in this room. He can't quite get a good shot on the Ettin. Xanrym's words gets the Ettin's attention and while it can't understand, he knows he's being made a fool of. He's very pissed off now and is staring down this Dire Wolf with a grim stare.
Theldrin still up i believe. Additionally, Avery, i'll point out that you can add an extra d6 to any attack roll you make while you have Bardic Inspiration. I'll also point out that with a 12 hitting and an 11 not, you know could work out the Ettin's AC.
(that should have read... wondering if Sleep would be effective against such a creature or if the party might be outmatched. He makes the quick decision to cast Magic Missile)
"Well, with this things size there's at least room for me!"
Hearing Liarin's comment before she transforms into the large wolf again, he yells over to Avery, "Should we fall back?! It might have more trouble fighting in the narrow tunnels!"

Not liking what he sees, Avery draws his sword. "May night be a giant, but to fit down here, an Ogre maybe?"

Liarin backs up Avery, but a step behind, leaving her options for spell or wildshape open.

Y'all get to go first, better try to put this thing down quick as it looks like it could brain Avery with two hits of it's weapons

For a moment Theldrin debates what spell to cast, wondering if [Tooltip Not Found] as three glowing darts of energy shoot forward towards the Ettin.
