Ayst the Harrengon is able to push the wardrobe aside well and quietly too with a strange brute force at this moment. Doc is able to put on the heavy gloves from River to grab the chips and put them away. The dresser removed shows a massive hole in the center of the room.

Avery's darkvision allows him to enter the hole and still be able to see. For Avery's first search he finds a few things around the tavern..
Animal-like scratchings, gnaw marks, patches of coarse fur, muddy tracks, and rat droppings may be found by examining the area. His second search doesn't yield him anything but for last he does notice one more thing. The breached wall was not caused by the meteor impact. The passage was dug relatively recently.
OOC Anyone can roll a DC10 survival check for the one thing Avery may have missed. And other checks they feel like rolling!
Also for Avery I'll need a perception check as he starts to climb toward the hole/burrow.
Axel discovers the same animal scratchings as Avery but also... Something new. drag marks, muddy tracks, and clawed footprints of several beastly creatures indicating something heavy was removed from the crater recently. That something heavy may just be the crystal they are searching for!
OOC If he has a way to see in the dark he too can make a DC 10 perception check in the hole! (Don't have to go IN the hole to make this check)
They can see that in the hole is a steep mudslide... That going down could cause a slip up rather easily. Fresh mud as well... Climbing down would be rather precarious. (A DC 12 Dex save if one begins to descend downward in the hole.)
OOC Feel free to think of some creative solutions too~
Doc fashions swiss seats(climbing harnesses) and prusik knot descenders for each of them and a descending line from the 150 ft of hempen rope from his pack and secures the fixed end with pitons. He ties a small bag of sand onto the free end and lowers it slowly into the hole, measuring the depth and estimating the slope..
The Owl on Doc's shoulder stirs. "Axel, Avery, would you like Olive to go first? She is very quiet and sees well in the dark. Also doesn't need to worry about slipping in the mud."

(OOC: I was thinking of calling a familiar for Khabibulin as well but didn't want to use up 10gp worth of components! Especiallyif its going to cost 20gp to replace them.)

You can have someone stealthy try to scout or go as a group up to you all.
However it is dark past the hole. Dark vision or a light source required.
Also while exploring I shall ask for 3 checks but they are optional just to get more info.
Check 1:
Survival or Investigation
Check 2:
Survival
Check 3:
Investigation but if you have Mason's tools you auto pass this check.
Avery will volunteer to stealthily scout
stealth: 20
check 1: 10
check 2: 9
check 3: 20

Axel watches as Avery scouts ahead, lights a torch cause he has no darkvision and follows after with the others when ready.

Baldri, at the appropriate time, touches the small bag of sand, and casts Light on it before it is lowered into the hole.
Avery holds out his rope, incase its needed.
