Talien, as the huge, blue dragon looms overhead, it's spiked frame silhouetted agains the moon, now visible from the clouds, its roar shakes you to your very bones. It bellows and lights up its maw and horns with an electric blue-white glow, piercing the black night. Due to the vision of the moon behind it, however, you are able to steel yourself for a shot, calling upon Selune for inspiration. Some of the other archers atop the parapet also loose crossbow bolts at the great dragon and several, including your own, seem to latch onto the beast. It snarls, seemingly barely perturbed, and flies closer, its throat and teeth lighting up for a charged breath attack.
Archibald, Kyros, and Lias all reach the tower rooftop approximately simultaneously, though from different paths. You all arrive just in time to see the arrows snap into the dragon's frame, shafts and feathers glinting slightly in the moonlight. The dragon snarls and charges in.
Azrial, your new donkey friend is amiable enough to your need of service, but balks a bit when it realizes you're going toward the source of its fear. It's not so keen on heading up the stairs, either, to the tower. The sturdy donkey legs seem to be quaking, despite its determined nature in aiding its new friend. Reaching the middle landing of the tower it 'haws' loudly, seeing the dragon above, and kicks! Please make another animal handling check and a wisdom saving throw against the dragon's roar. (Don't forget you have advantage on this fear effect.)
All of you, Azrial with the dragon now above him and his steed, and the rest of the party on the rooftop are witness to the awful power of this adult blue dragon. Reaching the edge of the tower wall, but still flying out of reach of anything melee, it rears back its head and looses a jet of white lightning breath into the crossbow guards! Instantly 15 guards are charred, jittering and convulsing as the electricity flows through them, arcing to those nearby. Every person the electricity touched is now smoking and crackling on the top of the tower, their lives snuffed in an instant. Azrial cannot see the carnage, but saw exactly what caused it and heard the screams and crackles of his coworkers and possibly friends. The dragon bellows again and flies up to about 80' above the tower.
For reference, an adult blue dragon:

Kyros reached the top of the Keep with Lias only step behind, and saw Archibald exit from the next doorway some 20 feet away. He seemed visibly shaken, yet still the human pushed himself nearer the great beast.
A snarl, building into a roar drew his attention back to the dragon. Kyros turned, only to see a bolt of dragonbreath lay into a flank of archers. Few managed to scream before the crackling blast electrocuted them, and a stench quickly pervaded the parapet. The stench of burnt flesh and singed hair muddled with dry stuffiness of electrified air. The latter was a smell Kyros knew well, given his own heritage, but mixed with death as it was here, it was at once glorious, powerful, and repulsive! A smell he had caused himself mere hours ago. Those men were now beyond saving, so Kyros looked to Talien and the other living soldiers, preparing for the battle to come.
As his arrow barely pierced the Dragon's thick scales, and he looked around at the devastated, ashen remains around him, Talien cursed. "There's no way we can take on a beast of this size. We've got to get these people out of here..."
As Azrial shouts to his steed and calms the bucking donkey, it miraculously pulls off his own sense of calm and realizes it can be of great use... somehow. The ass must help, it is a beast of burden and that is its role!
There is no response from those above, and you urge your donkey up to the top of the tower.
The initiative order so far is as follows: Talien, Lias, Dragon, Guards, Kyros, Azrial... just waiting on Archibald.

Talien runs into the castle shouting to the group to get inside, you have plenty of movement to make it into the door at the top of the tower and somewhat down the stairs. The rest of the party minus Azrial, as he is out of ear shot, please make wisdom saving throws for this. If your result is less than Talien's roll (8) you think it's the greatest idea anyone has ever had and book it for the door back into the keep. If you beat an 8 you can make your own choice.
Archibald, you have an action before you make your wisdom throw if you'd like. You are still frightened. Talien is not.

Archibald continued trying to process what was in front of him. He glanced from the horribly contorted bodies of the archers to the beast that fell them and then to the bow he was now clutching tightly. His mind raced with memories of the enormous lizard they had fought and how his arrows hardly scratched it. His thoughts were pierced by Talien's voice yelling for everyone to flee, an idea to which he didn't give a second thought before running as fast as his legs would take him.

The dragon roars again, this time stopping to speak in draconic before lashing out with its tail!
"Dout nixeu geou sulta tenpiswo, bleviki!" it bellows as its tail lashes at the nearest guard! The guard lifts his hands in futile defense before it bludgeons him into the parapet... He hangs on by a thread of life, coughing and attempting to lift himself on a broken arm. "Si mi Lennithon, wer Ulhartiki Kepesk! L'gra ve!" the dragon thunders.
It then flies back about 40' from the rooftop, distancing itself some.
The guards, in turn, begin firing bolts, ignoring the pleas from you to hide. "For Greenest!" they shout while attacking. From your vantage points you see about 6 bolts lodge into the hide of the dragon. It snarls in disgust, but barely flinches.

Kyros could only watch as the dragon marauded overhead. He could only watch as an entire flank of guards was snuffed out instantly. He could only watch as his once-stalwart comrades fled before the immense terror, beckoning him to do the same. Their voices were a distant call though, muffled and lost beneath the din of the roaring monstrosity.
“No..” his voice cracked, nearly a whisper. “We cannot abandon them!” he said as if reasoning with the niggling whispers in the back of his mind. “If we do not stand against this foe... if we turn now and flee…” The dragon’s declaration interrupted, as it bludgeoned another guard and turned away to terrorize Greenest once more.
In the brief respite, Kyros sprinted forward to assist the wounded soldier. “You two!” he desperately beckoned the nearest guards, “Get this soldier inside to the medics!” the Dragonborn carefully lifted the wounded man upright to their shoulders. As they shuffled towards the Keep, Kyros turned to address the remaining guard.
“You have done well so far, but we cannot falter here or the whole city will be lost. Your families. Your loved ones. And your friends. Reload, and spread out. Fire when you are able, but be ready to take cover against the parapet walls when the beast returns.” The rythmic beats Lias had played moments ago echoed in his mind, a resonant underscore bolstering his conviction. He let his tone rise and fall in a timing only he could hear, but his voice and determination only grew with every passing word.
“Lias, you as well, should ready your arms and take cover.” The Fighter called back to the Bard, before moving into position against the forward wall. He readied a javelin to throw, quashing his fear as he looked out at the petulant wyrm revelling in its wanton destruction.

"Dunno wot you said, mate, but you tell 'im!" one shouts while fumbling with a bolt.
