Sounds good. In situations like this, I would like it very much if folks used the advantage prior to tossing the dice.
In other words, I don't want it to become the norm for us to roll the dice ... see the result ... and then decide if you want to roll the dice again.
Obviously, we are going to have situations where the dice get rolled after the fact (didn't realize there was advantage, or forgot, etc), so this is not an outright ban ... I don't mind if we do it once in a while, just not every time.
Regarding this hadn't really seen help action used like that, so got confused and just rolled regular attack.

It's sometimes lost on the round summaries, because I don't list what didn't happen, but I thought the entangle was a particularly good debuff.
It cost the enemies three of their actions [DD 2 & KT 1] between being restrained, freeing oneself and traveling through difficult terrain. That would have been five more attack rolls from the opponents if they had not been hampered.

Thanks man! Felt like much less impact, but when you put it like that
Excellent, and yes, the Entangle was huge. That helped us a lot. I was hoping to get away from that fight without having to burn my poison cure, but still, that's not too bad of a start considering what we faced and how low I rolled. I'm ready to kill a dragon now, since I've surely gotten all of my single-digit d20 rolls out of my system. **fingers crossed**
A bit o'healing would be nice, though, if our cleric or druid can spare it. Your tank got chomped pretty hard there at the end.

Sorry, but I"m tapped. Had to heal my own stupid ass from fall damage.

I tried healing you for 4 with cure wounds. Range is 4-11, and I rolled a total of 4 =(
Balen did not take any of the gear he discovered when searching the fallen cultist. In that round, he sheathed his weapon as a free item interaction, then performed the action, search, then he moved away to begin the next round closer to the fight.
We're no longer tracking things round by round, so the point is somewhat moot.

Aw dang. Can I still go back and loot the corpse or it that too late now?

In the IC thread, we're getting a bit of bad advice from the paladin. In previous editions, identifying magic items was a whole thing, time and resources needed to be dedicated to the task.
In this edition, characters will know that they have discovered a magic item just by handling it, and can determine its properties if they focus on it during a short rest.
Identifying A Magic Item (DMG, pg 136)
Some magic items are indistinguishable from their nonmagical counterparts, whereas other magic items display their magical nature conspicuously. Whatever a magic item's appearance, handling the item is enough to give a character a sense that something is extraordinary about it. Discovering a magic item's properties isn't automatic, however.
The identify spell is the fastest way to reveal an item's properties. Alternatively, a character can focus on one magic item during a short rest, while being in physical contact with the item. At the end of the rest, the character learns the item's properties, as well as how to use them.
Potions are an exception; a little taste is enough to tell the taster what the potion does.
Sometimes a magic item carries a clue to its properties. The command word to activate a ring might be etched in tiny letters inside it, or a feathered design might suggest that it's a ring of feather falling. Wearing or experimenting with an item can also offer hints about its properties. For example, if a character puts on a ring of jumping, you could say, "Your steps feel strangely springy." Perhaps the character then jumps up and down to see what happens. You then say the character jumps unexpectedly high.
@SunDial365, Don't forget that Balen has expertisewith his thieves' tools. Expertise means that when rolling a skill check, you add twice the proficiency bonus.
In any event, he attempt to pick the lock was unsuccessful.

haha I loved your taunt for the dog by the way.
Reminds me of this:
"You know, evil comes in many forms, be it a man-eating cow or Josef Stalin, but you can't let the package hide the pudding! Evil is just plain bad! You don't cotton to it. You gotta smack it in the nose with the rolled-up newspaper of goodness! Bad dog! Bad dog!" - The Tick

Geez guys, you've been productive. Went away to do manly (Ron Swanson manly) things for a while and suddenly there are like 10 messages.

No worries. It's just something to strive toward, not an ultimatum.
Open ended declarations in PbP tend to be, well ... open ended. I'm just trying to put guardrails up.

I forgot to mention it in the round summary but I added in sneak attack damage to Balen's final dagger strike.

Thanks. We're all rolling just about as low as we can so far. I only needed 7, so 4's not too bad.

Yes, of course. That is why the distinction was moot.

Ugh ... apologies, gang.
I was fixing a typo in the IC post and triggered the 'these dice may have been messed with' warning.
The originally rolled number was 2 for the ointment.
Just type in the 2 then. It ain't no problem, we trust you
But that's too bad, cuz thats one potent ointment
