Sir Beauregard turns to the kobolds with a dark expression. “So let me be certain I understand,” he says, clearly struggling to contain his anger. “You have Aidron, a bronze dragon, imprisoned here awaiting a ritual. You had better take me to him as Sparkrender ordered.” He takes a step forward, his sword still unsheathed and dripping dragon blood. “Now.”
Augustus will move as if to help the kobold out of the net, but hearing Sir Beauregard's determination and his order to the Kobolds, Augustus will instead take hold of the net, turning the kobold to face the tower and say quietly, "Best listen to him, lad."
Vinn picks up the unconscious kobold to bring to the brothers, but comes to a stop, surprised by Sir Beauregard's demanding expressions. "Sir... they're just kobolds. Maybe it's a misunderstanding or a mistake. We don't know why they would choose to leave the Mistress, but it must be something for them to want to work for a pretty mean dragon, right?
He turns to Mek and Minn. "We don't want to hurt you guys," Vinn says, putting the kobold in his arms down gently in front of them. "But we can't leave either. The mistress sent us here to help out with a different dragon, but Sparky shows up instead. Everything is weird. What's going on?"
Sir Beauregard looks at Vinn. “The blood calls. We choose how we answer.” He spits again, this time with less blood. He mutters, “just kobolds!” And turns to examine the route to the tower to see if they can get there without flying.
The two brothers cower at the scolding from the knight of the Ruby Rose.
"Yes. Yes. We'll do as you says." Responds the taller one. "Just don't hurt us... and hurry, before boss comes back and goes BOOM on us."
He nods to the shorter brother who scurries over to a wooden cranking mechanism located on the eastern corner of the rotunda, where Sparkrender first landed. (Circled in Red)
The kobold turns the crank, lowering the platform of a hastily constructed wooden pulley lift, which leads up into an adjacent tower - the highest point of the observatory.
Gazing up, you see that the lift rises another 15 feet to the main floor of the tower. Looking down, you see a 30 foot drop to the crashing waves below.
The kobold looks at you expectantly, waiting for you to climb aboard the lift...

Sir Beauregard gets on. “If you wish safety, travel as a group to Dragon’s Rest where Runara will protect you. Take this whistle and blow it if you see an owlbear on the way.” He gives one of the brothers the whistle.
Z also gets on the platform and seeing Sir Beauregard injured, pops the cork from his Potion of Healing and dabs a few drops onto the wound then insists on the knight to drink the rest of it (healing: 7) then bandages the knight's wounds as best he can.
Augustus will eye the build quality of the lift, unsure if it will hold the entire group at once, and will offer to help the kobold crank up the first group.
Sir Beauregard frowns at Vinn. “We will talk more later, but there is no beauty in pretending evil is good. You are fortunate not to fight that battle every day.“ He holds up his hand to Ziegler and rejects the potion. “Thank you but you may need that potion more before we are done. I am well enough now. Let us bandy words no more, for true ugliness is free and I fear for Aidron. Let us make haste.”
Unable to make the lift move faster, Sir Beauregard wipes his bloody blade and sheathes it. He stares down bleakly at the waves crashing against the rocks below. Slowly, very slowly, his brow unfurls and his eyes soften. He leans closer to Vinn, “I am afraid, my friend. My mind races with what darkness may await us. I may need more help seeing the roses here.”
The half-orc nods and smiles, as always it is a disturbing sight, but now his eyes crinkle with relief and true happiness. “Yes, we will face this together and there is beauty in that.” He looks back to Mek and Minn and says, “I am sorry for my hard words. Forget this place and go see your brother. Do not forget the whistle.”
Mek takes the whistle, looks to his brother who nods approvingly.
"We is sorry... Mek and Min did big mistake. We is try do better." He points up toward the tower."Turn statues to open the door. Make them look at dragon lights, yes."
Finally, turning away he adds, "Be real hurryfull. Boss-err.... Sparkrender be big big mad when he comes back."
With that, Mek moves to the remaining kobolds, arguing with them in draconic about fleeing while they can. His brother turns the winch, sending you all up toward the tower.
Rays of light dance across the remains of this tower’s stained glass dome, making iridescent colors shimmer across the crumbled marble walls. Gilded lines and jeweled inlays form a detailed star map. Certain constellations are illustrated in the map, with gilded lines connecting the illuminated jeweled "stars" forming a harp... a huntsman... and a dragon.
Four alabaster statues of scholars stand around the perimeter of the room, their expressions worn with time. Each ten-foot-tall statue is pointing or gesturing in a different direction...

Augustus looks around the star map, pleased. "Ah, many say when you feel unsure, look to the stars, for they are more reliable than the surest truths. Many of these are quite well known and used for navigation! The kobold mentioned the 'Dragon Lights', right? Perhaps these statues are meant to point it out!" He says, pointing at the Dragon constellation.
As they get off the lift, Vinn nods in agreement with Morlock and puts a hand on Sir Beauregard's shoulder. "You don't need to be afraid of the darkness, Sir. Sunrise will always come, just like sunset always does. They all have their moments."
He then tries to turn the statue according to Augustus's instructions. "Don't we need to see the stars to use a star map?" Vinn comments, not quite understanding the task. "The statues are just guys pointing at whatever we turn them to..."
If nothing happens, Vinn will try to understand the map or at least stare at how prettily the light scatters itself in the broken glass dome.
