if it fails , she goes to surface and asks sparhawk if they wanna help with their aura and fearlessness…
”sparhawk…. I’m… not brave enough for this one… the cage is enchanted… either we move on, or we try to set this genie free… a free genie might be an enemy, but also might be a boon…. I guess now it’s up to you big fella” she debates aloud weighing the sides.
Sparhawk secures everything and say, “ok, let’s see if we can help.”
He’ll go in with those who want and take a look, taking a big breath.
(how long does water walking last?)
When he first goes in he has a quick reaction and pauses as he thinks of his lost friend who was drowned. Taking in another breath of air, he strengthens his resolve and swims down (wisdom save 16)

With soarhawk’s aid and aura tatsat dives back down,
(18 + 3 = 21 wis save this time)
”1) why are you imprisoned, 2) why should we let you out, and 3) what is this place?” She asks the seeming water genie untapped.
She wonders if this is dispel magic issue or a hit it with a hammer type of issue…, “there must be a clue somewhere” (with comprehend languages what does the tunes say?)
<Technically ww lasts an hour. Who's to say how long you spoke with the xorn, though? I was assuming it was done, as it's never actually been a helpful thing to have, in practice.>
Unfortunately, Captain Sparhawk's resolve also falters as he nears the cage, it's runes puksing with light as he nears and deepening the disquiet he feels in his gut, sending him back to the surface.

Crosspost. I didn't see this one before.
Comprehend languages requires you to touch the surface wirh tbe writing. If you do that you'll diacover the runes on the cage invoke the hatred of Ogrémoch, the Prince of Evil Earth.
The genie points out that she is indeed a genie, so freeing her would engender her gratitude. It's also just a decent thing to do. The dao who imprisoned her only did so because she is of the plane of earth and the genie with whom you now speak hails from the plane of water.
Having had many years to contemplate this, she agrees that dispel magic would probably work. Of course, she can barely speak, so it takes at least a minute for her to say all this.
But, in 5e, drowning is almost impossible, so you should be fine to listen to it no matter what.
Also she doesn't know what's with the place it's like some kind kf nexus between worlds. She cane here straight from the plane of water but has seen creatures feom the plane of earth and all.mammer of strange creatures since, well, strange to her, at least.
If anyone finds a good use for a scroll or potion they have... great! Expendables are meant to be expended, then we get more scrolls and potions, and use them too, keep the cycle going, lol.
"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
(Agreed, resource management is important, we purchased these scrolls for just such a use!) Sparhawk gives Tatsat the scroll of dispel magic. "Lets see if this could help our underwater friends situation."
"Sparhawk, perhaps we can invite these capable fellows on your grand quest to stop the darkness and save the world."
Kos waits to see what the others find or learn about what's under the water.

Tats dispels the cage using the scroll from the 60 ft distance of the spell range to be closer to the surface… but is mentally ready for a fight if needed… however it does seem like the ring wanted out…,
”be free genie of the waters… I know of the world of slaves and debts that is the world you come from… perhaps you can grant us some boon… anything but trickery shall be met with thanks”
With the casting of dispel magic, the cage is destroyed. Moments later, Kasdu'ul returns to her lively self. She can help anyone get to the surface if needed.
As thanks for freeing her, she's willing to cast Tongues, Water Breathing, and Water Walk on to facilitate your further exploration.
Then, the joy vanishes from her face, as the eagerly anticipated moment of freedom gives way to memory of centuries of imprisonment. "If you should find her, know this: that dao, Kashem," she spits scornfully at the name, "is a menace. There is no dealing with her, just end her if it is in your power." the grateful genie urges you to find and slay the dao that imprisoned her.
“Greeting noble genie. Glad We’re able to help in some small way to help in your freedom. Know the actions of this one Doa do not reflect all of them. Any wisdoms you might wish to impart on us?” During this I am rubbing my ring unknowingly. And bow after saying this

(Heroism would defeat the fear save. Sparhawk could do it but he’s very low on spells. )

While under Sparhawk examines the cage for any signs of weakness, wondering if leverage from his 10foot pole could break the lock.

Make a religion check.

(We have dispel magic scroll, we have the xorns from plane of earth)
Yep. Sparhawk doesn't recognize the name ogremoch, or if he does, he doesn't see anything special about it.
“I wonder if we might encounter creatures from each plane? Air, earth, fire, water. If so, are each of these planes in danger.”
Tatsat agrees.
“must be a nexus point between the worlds…wish I spoke primordial heh” she sighs but goes to work.
(if no one uses the scroll mentioned above she would cast dispel magic with a lvl 3 spell slot, up to tue group:
-pros of using scroll: another slot for spirit guardians if we need it befor a long rest (and when are we gonna need dispel magic again)
-pros of using slot: we have the scroll later if i run out of slots (less likely unless there are 4 of these)
.my vote is for using the scroll, though perhaps that is selfish, I defer to the group.
