Captain Sparhawk’s pole meets something semisolid. The mass of dirt just beyond d the foliage yields to the force of the pole.
When you hack the vegetation away, you see that you ha e disturbed an eight-foot tall ant mound.
Within moments, swarms of ants erupt from their subterranean nest.
<I'm porting the initiative from the other game. Much easier for me to run both the same way. Combat tracker rolls the numbers, I post them. All monsters act based on a formula, creating side initiative to speed up pbp, but any bonuses to your initiative (per your DDB character sheet) are applied and determine if you across befire or after the NPCs)>
All of the dwarf's attacks squash swathes of insects from the path as they move in undulating masses toward the group, but against the phalanx of tiny beasts, Cha!jil's claws are not very effective <DR>.
Seeing the furious insects, “Hum, we may want to move away from these creatures home, everyone head that way.” (North East 45 degrees off the path in same direction we were headed)
Sparhawk presses through the jungle, finding himself at the edge of a Batiri goblin village. A half-dozen or so small huts form a rough circle within a cleared section of jungle.
At the far end of the clearing some crates are stacked by a small campfire. To his right, another fire burns, past the edge of the circle of huts. Beside it stands a larger hut. Also near thus hut are some canoes and another ant hill, one of three he can see, (including the one he poked with a stick).
Several goblins of varying size (although, they're all smallish - they're goblins) move between the huts, carrying fish and tools, wood and other materials.
(I guess I'm going to assume the party all runs from the ants with Sparhawk, leaving them to protect their ant hill/ home).
(Perception: 6)
Sparhawk will put his hands in the open, sheathing sword and shield trying to show that he is not a threat. (OOC: If it matters, he does possess a sword that has the claws of a T-Rex, and the pommel is made of T-Rex (bone).
"Do any of you have knowledge of this tribe? Ca!jil, are these the Batiri you spoke of? the captain says, looking at the group with both interest and caution. "I speak Goblin, if that helps."
seemingly familiar with the biting ant tribe, she may be aware that this tribe is skilled at ant husbandry, keeping the ants to farm fungus for the village. The ants are such a key part if their cukture that the goblins wear stylized wooden ant masks. They are not only sadistic but highly creative in their tortures, tying enemies to trees, dousing them in honey, and leaving them to be devoured by insects over the course of several days, if a larger predator doesn’t finish them off first.
Sparhawk, scanning the village, soon realizes thst he is only inches from a skull on a pike. Vaguely humanoid, it is quickly discerned as a gurollon skull, with the skin absent from the face, but white hair still covering the pate. Just as he processes what he is seeing, the head begins to move, the jaws gnashing eagerly at the captian as the zombie girallon head moves as much ad it's undead disembodied skull csn while so impaled.
Immobilized, it presents little threat to the half-orc, but danger yet lies in wait, unseen. From deeper in the jungle, an arrow flies past the intrepid captian, landing at tbe edge of the village.
Ca!jil walked up behind Sparhawk, " Yes.....Biting Ants, I mentioned them before.........my people and them are not on the best of terms.....generally speaking."
You're acting out of order, which is challenging. I was waiting for Gell, then monsters (ants), then the other two players. If sparhawk wants to move, it's after the attacks. There was a 50% chance of the ants attacking him. I didn't care because there's the aoo, anyway, but if they're disengaged, it's after the attacks, which I've now declared against Gell and Ca!jil, who are still there, having had a turn to act.
I have skipped Gell because I simply can't wait any longer, but they can act twice next round if they want.
The goblins freeze at rhe sound of Sparhawk’s entreaty. Half and a score and more sets of eyes obscured by the oversized wooden masks, carved to resemble ants, fall on the half orc. The bustling village, for just a moment, is totally silent. Then one goblin calls back, "How many you?"
( Rage takes that down to 5 so she's little fussed. I have a feeling Ms Jungle Dwarf should stay at the back and try not to draw attention with these guys)

Gellakress 21
Cha!jil 20
NPCs 17
Tess 15
Sparhawk 3
Gell and Cha!jil: you're up.
<two swarms of ants in the immediate area>
<I probably should have labeled them. The gray boxes are ant swarms, let's call the top square 1 and the bottom square 2>
Cha!jil moved across to put herself between the ant swarm and Tess, then tore into it with her suddenly leonine claws.
Attack: 9 Damage: 7
Attack: 20 Damage: 8
Additional Attack: 11 Damage: 4
BA: Rage.

@Legion4: Gell is up.

That does trigger an AoO 14 for 10 piercing.

@shimshon123: make a perception check.
Still waiting on Gell to act in the ongoing ant combat.

Cha!jil might know better;
seemingly familiar with the biting ant tribe, she may be aware that this tribe is skilled at ant husbandry, keeping the ants to farm fungus for the village.

“We are not your enemy, we seek to trade” Sparhawk says in goblin.
He does not pull weapons. Both his hands out in a sign of non confrontation.
“Ca!jil?”
Ca!jil walked up behind Sparhawk, " Yes.....Biting Ants, I mentioned them before.........my people and them are not on the best of terms.....generally speaking."
" Don't get captured."It never ends well."
<still no Gell? Gotta move on.>
Ants bite Gell (13 for 10 piercing) and Ca!jil (23 for 10 piercing).
(Ooc can be dodge and disengage from the ants, move away from their home)
@Shimshon: It matters little to me.
You're acting out of order, which is challenging. I was waiting for Gell, then monsters (ants), then the other two players. If sparhawk wants to move, it's after the attacks. <Also, Tess is up, and back to Gell and Cha!jil>
Tess will also withdraw from the ants, if possible, and stay with the group. She looks to the Captain for the lead on how to handle the goblins.
They want to know how many you are. At least one person understands them (speaks goblin).
(Others might guess, with a good insight check)
( Rage takes that down to 5 so she's little fussed. I have a feeling Ms Jungle Dwarf should stay at the back and try not to draw attention with these guys)
