Can you stop the Shattering of Phandelver and the Unleashing of the Horror-beneath-the-Dirt?
All is not well in the town of Phandelver and the task falls to you to get to the bottom of it. After several years of relative peaceful settlement in the newly reclaimed frontier town of Phandelver, trouble after trouble has beleaguered its good people. No longer the simple troubles or ruffians and wolves, a white dragon has been spotted in the mountains, and word comes of a green dragon now in the woods below the mountain. Avaricious eyes are turned towards the fabled forge of spells, and adventurers roam the town beyond the reach of the ineffective Mayor of Phandelver, who finds his dreams increasingly troubled...
You all arrive in Phandelver shortly before a new excitement. It seems a party of adventurers arrived not long before you and struck out for the rediscovered Wave Echo cave. Having bested smaller troubles for the town and wielding magic and strong steel, they were expected back, victorious, within the day. That was almost two weeks ago.
Now, a bloodied and wild-eyed adventurer has been spotted making their way towards the town, alone...
What has gone wrong? What is yet to be discovered? What treasures lay ready for you to claim as your own? All the answers lie beneath the mountain, waiting, for you.

I'm looking for 4 players to join in the second half of a Shattered Obelisk campaign covering from level 6 to 12. Previously I was a player in a PbP of the LMoP that was planned to continue once the Shattered Obelisk came out, but things happen as they do.
One player from that campaign is still keen to complete the Wave Echo Cave and the second half of the campaign so it would be a total of five players, and it would begin with the party ready to return to Wave Echo Cave and look for the fabled Forge of Spells. (To be clear, there won't be a DMPC in the party.) If there's any additional clarifications necessary, please ask and I'll answer as I seem them.
Your character would begin at level 6. It would be XP levelling. Multiclasses are allowed. Optional rules would be discussed further at the start of the campaign in the party PMs. All published classes welcome (including Blood Hunter). Tashas etc. and all published content is ok. If it's any of the new 3rd party from the last few months I'm open to it but I'd have to look into it and go case-by-case. No Homebrew.
Ability Scores: Please roll in thread. Reroll 1s, once.

Your chosen free Feat (if you don't get already free feat with Variant Human/Custom Lineage with feat as part of Race. N.B. Also those swanky Krynn/Bigby/Many Thing backgrounds with feats. Only 1 free feat for all. Choose that strong featless race or background you’ve always wanted and then throw a feat in. Go nuts)
Your chosen magical Items (Two Uncommon and One Rare)*
Normal starting equipment + 725 gold / common equipment up to the value of 725 gold
Would love to throw my name in the hat. If nothing else making characters is fun! Haha. Thanks for the consideration.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.

Me too! But you can flip it sideways to see the full post options. (It is awkward to use, haha.)

What brings you to Phandelver, and why would you join with the other adventurers to find the Wave Echo Cave?
"Why, to study of course! A wealth of lost information lies within those walls. The pursuit of knowledge is eternal and ongoing. I could craft decades of research from this expedition, and unlock even greater mysteries worth more among my peers than any gold or gem in the land. I, of course, will be happy to assist in any medical and/or combative roles. But my pursuit is, has, and always will be knowledge -- for the betterment of all."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Character's name: Anderson
Character background: Acolyte
Race: Variant Feral Tiefling
Class: Paladin - Oath of Redemption
What brings you to Phandelver, and why would you join with the other adventurers to find the Wave Echo Cave? Anderson, a redeemer in service to Lathander, roams the Sword Coast in service to his god in the hopes that he will one day prove his worthiness. Cursed to be born a tiefling, Anderson has mutilated his body by cutting off his devil horns and gouging out his infernal eyes. His hope is that through service — helping others and spreading the light — he can be forgiven and redeemed enough to be counted worthy of Lathander's grace.
What brings you to Phandelver, and why would you join with the other adventurers to find the Wave Echo Cave? As part of the Harpers I was lead to a contact in Phandelver to meet up with.
Question: V Humans get a feat by default. Would that count as the extra feat or would we be allowed a freebie in addition to that one?
Have clarified in text now. The freebie counts as the starting feat for variant.
It occurred to me and I edited just before I saw this, but yeah. One free level 1 feat for all, then either ASI or feat at appropriate level depending on what you do. The intention is to allow all to not just choose variant/custom. I mean you can choose variant if you want, but it’s one free feat either way. Hopefully liberating not annoying.

Your chosen magical Items: Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Necklace of Adaptation, Handy Haversack (Rare)
Equipment: Normal Artificer equipment, plus 501 gp worth of extra common equipment, and 224 remaining gp.
Note: Bought all tools proficient with.
Sorry, completely my fault. My intention with the free level 1 feat was to mean variant human doesn’t have a huge pull compared to others, and then I forgot to be completely clear in the writing of the OP.
Of course you can still choose it and it won’t affect my decision, but you would only have two feats not three if I’m reading your sheet right. You get a starting feat as variant human, but also every other race, not two. Then an ASI/feat at class level 4.

There is a dice roller function with a stats tab and a dropdown for rerolling 1s once. Use that and it'll autoformat it for you.
