As you look down the hall you can be sure there are no traps, it's straightforward enough. Your ears, hypersensitive due to a brief moment of silence detect sounds from behind the door. A squealy, nasally noise, probably a hobgoblin, as well as a low, gruff voice of a bugbear. The hobgoblin seems afraid, but the bugbear has a calm, confident tone.
"Pssst," is the noise Misery makes to quietly usher her teammates near. Then, when they were close enough to hear her whisper, she said;
"There're voices on the other side. One's deffo our missing hobgoblin, the other's buggy with a hint of bearish. I think it's our boy Blurg - he'll probably be expecting us if we bust in now. Anyone have any ideas? Because I do - trap this hallway quick as flint, then give him a reason to come storming out to us."
Misery seems eager to use the bag of ball bearings she has in her burglar's kit, not to mention the flasks of oil (are there any flammable decorations like flags or tapestries perfecting the feng shui of the hall?). She's also got a nifty idea about using her climbing pitons and 50 ft of hemp rope as a pulley system to suspend the slain hobgoblins' longswords above the door, so that who ever opens it (and so snaps a tripwire) will have a few feet of burnished steel plunging towards their neck.
"...unless of course, anyone has any other suggestions?"
{Apologies, I was unable to post much this last week. Thanksgiving is a crazy time of year for me.}
Az nods along to your suggestion. "That sounds like a good plan. I can create sounds on this side of the door. And if the door is unlocked, I can slam it open and shut, if that helps."
No tapestries can be seen on the walls, the lair is more of less a cave with a few furniture items. Preparing the trap is going to take a survival check too.

Survival: 22
If we succeed on the trap I'll be at close range for when they exit the door.
OOC: btw when it's the next day I'll change my spells,or (since I've only used one so far) may I change the others than skeliagh? was thinking of going moon so went more for utility but now I feel dmg would be nice (and want spores later)
(Well when the next day comes you can, but as these guys won't be in there until the next day you probably won't be able to do that until after the encounter.)
Anything else you wanna do besides waiting for them?
Aztar uses Thaumaturgy to blow the door wide open and bring the fight to our house of death
We ready our actions to light them up with spells and arrows the moment they activate the traps
If there's anywhere to hide ("the lair is more of less a cave with a few furniture items" emphasis mine) - good wall outcroppings, barrels, barricades, or even a sufficiently-shaded corner - then Hide Misery Does! Stealth: 18
If not... then whatever! We're in action mode anyway. Go big or go home.

A hulking bugbear emerged from the room hastily. He had a human sized spider perched on his back. "Who dares' enters' my castle!?" The swords swung, both making their mark.
Sword 1: 3 Sword 1: 1
The bugbear growled as he was jabbed by the swords. He wobbled about on the ball bearings, somehow not falling, but he definitely didn't notice any of you.
as it appears in the room I attempt to folow the sword slicinf with a bash from my enchanted staff: (Hit: 12 Damage: 11 ) And since it is in the room I guess we have a surprise round a roll initiative: 1
The bugbear gasped as he was whacked twice, blood trickled down his forehead as he feel forward, the spider crawls off his. back and into the room he came from. (The spider disengaged so no attack of opportunity.
"Blurgh!?" Came a hobgoblin's voice from inside. "Alright...what do you want?! Please don't kill me!"
With a confused look on his green face, Yuwure looks at the others of the group, and quickly follows into the room (if needed dex check to avoid the hanging swords and not to fall on the ball bearings: 11 ) "Let us talk then"
"Hot diggity, that worked better than expected. Anyone else see that spider? Kind of suspicious, you know? Spiders riding backs and all... anyone know if an imp can transform into a spider maybe?
Misery brings up the rear of the rush, moving slowly so as not to trip on her own trap. She's drawn another arrow, and is hoping the good Perception vibes keep on a'flowing as she surveys the room - you know, for traps, spiders-that-turn-into-imps, gold coins, the usual.
This room contained a throne made of skulls in the center and many flaming braziers around it. The hobgoblin was clearly visible, and the spider was harder to see, clinging to the roof.
"The Spider is Neera, Blurg's pet. She fights for him...and I suppose now that he's dead her loyalty to him is broken." The Hobgoblin said. "I am Kerh, a guard of Blurgh, or at least I was. If there's anything you came here for, I'll try to supply it."
"I don't know much about the imp, it's true I swear!" Kerh gasped before clearing his throat and regaining his composure. "You see...the two, Blurgh and Quintus the imp had conversations in the throneroom alone. I did manage to overhear that Quintus the Imp plotted to invade the spore grove, that is the mushroom town, and retrieve the stone himself, and I have not seen the imp since."
"The spore grove!? if an invasion is being planned by the imp we should get going and warn the king! You're comming with us!" with this yuwure gets out some rope "this would be good for both of our and your safety"

(Huh...critical supernatural perception then)

"We folow on with your plan"

(This is through the Thaumaturgy spell. )

I think the plan of attack is:
If there's anywhere to hide ("the lair is more of less a cave with a few furniture items" emphasis mine) - good wall outcroppings, barrels, barricades, or even a sufficiently-shaded corner - then Hide Misery Does! Stealth: 18
If not... then whatever! We're in action mode anyway. Go big or go home.
Agree there, stealth roll: 1 and after setting the trap I Shillelagh my staff trying to hide slightly behind the door
Edit: Ow f*** I guess I'll tripp and accidentally fall on my own trap or open the door while trying to hide xD
A hulking bugbear emerged from the room hastily. He had a human sized spider perched on his back. "Who dares' enters' my castle!?"
The swords swung, both making their mark.

Az will swing his warhammer at him.
Attack: 15 Damage: 7
Initiative: 20
(Or not...)

Az will come in last, keeping his eyes open for the spider and any other dangers. He will ask for Gond's guidance.

"That spider did look suspicious." To the hobgoblin, he'll say "So tell us, what was that spider. And who are you?"

Az will heft his warhammer onto his sholders and look towards Kerh.
"Hello Kerh. I'm Aztar. Do you know where Caelius or his imp that he gave to Blurgh are? Did they give anything to Blurgh?"
"I don't know much about the imp, it's true I swear!" Kerh gasped before clearing his throat and regaining his composure.
