(Although Lira has clearly not mastered the art of spell casting, a ray of icy frost hits the pool in front of her, then travels through the water and hits the watery creature. The frozen ray seems to be attracted to the creature more easily after Iólinder's magical attack, and it is not happy with the cold attack.
(In addition, Lira just learned a new property of the amulet. It occurs to Lira that she could use the ray of frost to freeze water. The amulet allows the bearer to cast the cantrip, Shape Water: but only the Freeze water component: Property has been added to the item).
Amdaeng hits the creature again. She feels the punch/kick combination hit the water, and it appears to weaken the creature (Resistant), but it seems from her observations, that magical attacks are more effective. (OOC: Creature is at 10% health, meaning close to death)
Lev grits his teeth, is it even possible to harm this thing with a blade? Then Lira’s magic freezes the creature… at least partially. Redirecting his focus, he aims at the now frosted section of the monster.
Levs glaive slices through the "torso" of the creature. He sees his blade go clean through from one side to the other. More of its essence seems to wane, yet it still attacks, almost mindlessly as water fills back in as the weapon exits. (Half damage, resistant to weapons, fists, full damage from magic).
"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
After being dropped and regaining his feet he sees it trying to grab at others, "Keep after it!"
He thought about what he could do. He could get up close and try to blast it with a word of divine might but his armour was heavy and the ice did not seem all that stable. He could throw another bolt of radiance at it but Iólinder did not know how much more the palace tomb would test them and his magic, at this point, was finite. In frustration he hit the side of his thigh where he suddenly felt something hard and long. It was a stick. A magic stick. Iólinder recalled something about missiles.
Figuring it was better than nothing, Iólinder whipped out his magic wand and pointed it at the water creature. A word shimmered in small lettering at the bottom of the handle at the perfect height and angle for Iólinder to read. 'Tormentum!' He shouted and three darts of energy emerged from the wand's tip and streaked towards the water, hitting it with the dull impact of a fist breaking the water.
Zazi kept flying above the creature, though it was uncertain if her shrieks now were shrieks of fear of the creature, annoyance to distract it or delight at the pretty lights flashing by.
Iólinder - Action: use magic item --> missile stick: cast Magic Missile as first level spell - Damage: (2 + 1) x 3 = 9 force damage - D20 roll to see if the stick is destroyed: 9
Zazi - Action: Help to give advantage on the next ally's attack roll against the water creature.
Despite knowing that fire probably won’t hurt water that much, Vydar still decides to cast fire bolt on the thing. He doesn’t intend to go down in this fight, but he also doesn’t want to rush through his mana stash to quickly on larger ranged spells.
In a combined assault of furious attacks involving fire, missiles, blasts and fists, the mighty group of Storm's heroes destroys the strange creature before it can grab another victim. Its substance splatters back into the pool and some onto the deck near the group.
When it dies, the water in the pool clears somewhat. All is quiet. Bubbles still rise occasionally from the heated thermal vents.
Near where Amdaeng retrieved the necklace, it appears there is something at the bottom of the pool (5 feet deep).
Lira gives a sigh of relief as the water creature falls. She casts a glance at her amulet; perhaps it isn't only a curse after all, though using it will certainly take practice. She moves over to join the others just as Amdaeng emerges from the pool. The monk is braver than her for entering the water, that's for sure.
As Amdaeng emerges, you see what she had noticed earlier. Lying about 5 feet below the surface is a large skeleton. Likely the necklace she found when she entered on the side of the pool was from this poor soul.
As the battle completes, each of you feels more confident and capable of completing this dangerous cache. You have battled many things together, and as a team, have prevailed.
(YOU ARE NOW LEVEL 3!)There's a simple rule to allow leveling up without a long rest. Characters gain any resources from the level-up but expended resources stay expended, including damage sustained and spells slots used.
(In the last few encounters you have acquired some sort of magical gauntlets and Amdaeng just found a silver ring. In addition, another necklace has been retrieved.)
If you wanted to do a short rest, you could recover hp, Ki points, and potentially re-evaluate the items you have found. The sitting room would be a safe place to rest if you choose to do so.

Amdaeng wasn't sure she was making any impact but tried again regardless.

Zarbyn notices even though the blade went clean through it didn't seem to harm it as much as it would of other creatures, ones with flesh and bone.
"Magic might hurt it more than weapons do."
After being dropped and regaining his feet he sees it trying to grab at others, "Keep after it!"
Zarbyn will cast another Eldritch Blast spell at it.
Attack: 17 Damage: 10 force damage.
Amdaeng kept hammering away at the water-thing.

A door is closed to the south.
Amdaeng dives in to retrieve the object.
Amdaeng jumps in, opening her eyes to take a look
Amdaeng can look in character, (All others can look OOC)
A large skeleton, perhaps 7 feet in length lies at the body of the pool.
Amdaeng searches the body for necklaces.
No necklace, she assumes its necklace was what she found earlier. However, the body does have a ring on one skeletal finger.
Yoinks ring and surfaces gives it to the nearest magic user to ID.
Amdaeng jumps into the water, seeing something near where she found the necklace by the side of the pool. She come back up with a shiny ring.
