Darbakh's shillelagh connects with one of the skeletons. The creature is vulnerable to the bludgeoning damage and falls apart into a scattering of bones. The other skeleton swings and misses, and Darbakh turns around to engage again.
Finally, Darbakh connects with the second skeleton, again crumbling under the bludgeoning damage. Despite the fact that all he did was beat two measly skeletons - who also roughed him up quite a bit - Darbakh puts his hands on his hips and takes a deep, triumphant breath. "A battle for the ages," he says as he pops his neck joint and continues his journey to Evergreen Hollow for a nice, long rest.

Yuno hops back a bit in surprise when the Ankheg showed up. However she quickly retaliates with fast jabs to the Ankheg's torso. Her sword sinks into the creature's body and does severe damage over the course of the 3-strike flurry that Yuno just delivered to it. Yuno was looking to finish the monster off and fast but it would not go down so easily. With its scythe-like claws it grabs Yuno, its sharp spikes digging in to Yuno's waist. Then it bites down one her head. Acid and blood drips down Yuno's face as she feels her skull beginning to crack.
Round 2: Yuno (43/43) Ankheg (X/39)

Yuno grits her teeth through the pain and then holding her sword up she stabs it into the creature's head. The sword penetrates the soft part under the mandibles and busts out, the top of the monster's head, cracking the hard exoskeleton and splashing out green blood in the process. The creature's grip weakens and it falls down dead at Yuno's feet.
Reward: 450 XP
Taking a few deep breaths, Yuno figures she should rest for a bit. She isn't sure though what would be a good place to rest. Unlike the deathtrap tower, she doesn't have any immediately noticeable camping spots. She decides to go back to the makeshift smithy to rest.

Opening the wooden doors, Yuno finds herself in a massive room with intricate, ancient carvings on the wall. At the center of a room is what looks like a large ring of some kind. She runs her hands around the carvings and suddenly they begin to shake and glow. The large ring glows as well and the wall encircled by the ring fades away into a swirl of colors and shapes unlike any Yuno has seen before. From the glow, clawed arms reach out and two indistinguishable masses of flesh, eyes and teeth emerge. Raw unstable magic begins to leak out of the carvings and shoot out in short bolts in random direction.
Yuno laughs at the horrors that emerged with the deadly magic falling all around her, "Hah! Now this is interesting."
Lair Action (Jim's Magic Missile every round): 20 Yuno: 18 (adv: 14) Maw Demon (3): 7
The energy balls shoot out randomly. One of them strikes Yuno in the chest. She grits her teeth through the pain and keeps fighting. She skewers one of the maw demons with her sword and lifts it up before with a flick of her wrist, sends it crashing down to the ground. She flips her other sword to a reverse grip and stabs the grounded maw demon once again. The other demons jump her. One of them gets on her back and bites into her shoulder, drawing blood. Yuno sees the demon she stabbed get up and trying to bite her legs but she steps back and pulls the demon that was biting her shoulder off her and throws it down. The third demon leaps at her but she weaves to the side, letting it fly past her.

The power pouring from the "leaky" carvings gets intense. Yuno is barely able to dodge an attack, the bolt of magic grazing her arm. She deflects two more bolts with her swords at the demons. As the reflected magic strikes the mass of eyes and teeth, they stagger back. Yuno seizes the opportunity to stab one of the demons in the face... or at least what she assumes is its face with her left-handed sword. Chomp. Yuno's eyes go wide in pain as she feels something clamp on to her right hand. She looks to see the other demon chewing on her forearm. "ow ow ow ow!" She says while frantically shaking the demon off.
Bastard Sword: 10 (vex: 21) Dmg w/ Sneak: 4 BA second Wind: 8 HP
Maw2: 14 Maw3: 11
The rate at which magic is falling from the walls and the ceiling seems to slow down for a bit. Through the shower of mana the demons begin moving in for an attack. Yuno smiles, her fighting spirit getting more fierce with time. She spins to dodge on of the demons, nicking it on the side with the tip of her sword as she does so. When the other demon gets close she punches it in the side to push it away.
The energy of the carvings flare up again. One of the bolts strike Yuno in the gut. As one of the demons leap onto Yuno she goes down on the floor. Like a judo through she tosses the demon away. However it doesn't move again as she had stabbed the monster as she threw it, killing it in the process. That however, does not stop the other demon from grabbing Yuno the moment she gets up and biting down on her neck. Yuno manages to kick it away. She clutches her neck to try and stop the bleeding.
As the magic winds down and the shower of deadly mana fades, only Yuno and one demon is left in the room facing each other. Heh "Down to you and me again. Weird how every battle turns into a life or death affair. Doesn't matter... that's how I like it." She charges the demon. She makes two wide swings one horizontal followed by a vertical one with her swords. The demon's blood paint the walls as her blade cuts through the formless flesh. The demon roars and tries to counter attack but Yuno jumps back to avoid it.
The moment Yuno's feet land on the stone floor she leaps forward toward the demon, her twin swords trailing behind her. With a thrust, she skewers the demon. Her sword drips with demon blood as it goes limp. Yuno cuts up some of the demon and takes it with her. "That tiefling witch would want to hear about this."
Yuno, wounded as she is, decides to head back to town to recover and try to get some extra gold Ankheg parts and the corpse of one of the Maw demons. She'll be back here to explore the rest of the mine soon.
Back at town, Yuno gets herself some food and rest (6 SP). Then she goes to buy some better armor; A Half-Plate (750 GP). After changing into her new gear, Yuno will head to Syrah and drop the corpse of the Maw demon in front of her. "What do you think of this? Came out of a portal in the mines." She explains her adventure into the abandoned mines in the canyon.
Kane has 6 hours remaining on his mage armor and false life temps retro roll 11, and will use a hit die to heal 8
because of his retcon false life of 11 temps, he won't need to use a hit die to heal. He regains a 2nd level spell slot during the short rest with arcane recovery. Then he recasts false life from a scroll for 8 temps, overwriting the 1 temp remaining.
Encounter 5 (Greater Zombies) As you step into the overgrown cemetery, you notice the ground stirring, dirt shifting as rotting hands break through the surface.
