Garrick will investigate the bookcase after he leaves (investigation 19). He is looking for anything of interest, valuable, or secret entrance behind the books/bookcase.

Kessintra lets out a sigh of relief once the elf shuts the door, pulling out the invitation and cartographer's tools quickly. She lays them on a table and appears to go into some kind of trance as she draws out a map of the castle so far. Her head hangs down limply as her hands do all the work.

Cartographer's Tools roll: 19 including +2 for tool proficiency and advantage from Perception ((I might be getting this confused with how tools are rolled in the 2024 version? Without advantage it was a 5 -.-;;))

The map comes out oddly well aside from a few scribbles of 'Run' and 'kill him' along the sides. It even features annotations such as a music note to indicate where the organ music seemed to be coming from.

That's probably a 2024 rule, but 2014 doesn't really have rules for tools, so this is what we're gonna go with. Garrick doesn't find anything in or behind the bookcase. All you find are the books, which seem worthless, including books like Embalming: The Lost Art, Life Among the Undead: Learning to Cope, Castle Building 101, and Goats of the Balinok Mountains.

Tucking the map draft and tools back under her dress, Kessintra steps over to the windows to get a better look at the castle roof and anything else of interest she can see, like possible escape routes.

Perception: 7 lol

You can see one small chimney. It would be possible to jump out the window onto the roof, but it seems unstable and would be a several story fall. Just then, a vampire walks over the window as they walk up the side of the tower.

    Chipper pulls out a piece of fleece and quickly creates a set of boards over the window to keep the party's privacy. On the side facing the vampire are the words "No Peeking." and facing the party, "Stick a finger in, but not too far."

   Minor Illusion. (And indicating to the party that it's fake so as to make it a faint image for us which should let Kess continue to see out the window, no?)

He walks over and tests out the suit laid for him, curious if it'll accommodate the skin flaps or not. He was never quite sure if tailors loved the extra money of a special commission or loathed the extra work. He looks around wondering if there's any signs of magical surveillance or if Strahd is indeed a, all things considered, gracious host.

"Any interest titles?" he asks Garrick of the books.

No books of import. Just casual reads I spose.

The vampire sees the sign and decides to just move on. Kess can see out of it. The suit is specially tailored, allowing you to glide while wearing it. You can't see or detect any forms of surveillance.

I’ve got 1 spell slot left, we can all jump out the window and I can feather fall us to the ground.

"If one of us can grab Ireena, we can try to jump down and run...Though I doubt we'd get very far. The walls are crawling with guards."

Also keep in mind that feather fall targets up to five creatures, and you have Ismirk and potentially Ireena with you.

Chipper can use his glide, but that still leaves one extra. Perhaps Kess would be able to stealth her way? (Chipper could possibly aid via illusions.) 

I was thinking that Amelia might be able to storm out at some point (given she was resistant to coming so it wouldn't be so likely to arouse suspicion) but Turn Undead is quite useful. 

Well I don’t think there’s anything to do but go to dinner if we want to find Ireena.

Zan changes into the provided suit, better?

Amelia's eyes flare with anger as she glares at Rahadin. Her voice drips with venom as she spits out her words

"You betrayed your own kind! How dare you serve an undead tyrant and imprison your brethren’s souls? The Seldarine will reserve a special place in elven hell for you!"  

When asked to change into formal attire, Amelia crosses her arms and firmly refuses.

"This is my dress, and this is who I am! Tell Strahd that I tolerated his invitation, so he’d better tolerate my dress code!"

Amelia narrows her eyes, clutching her holy symbol as she glares at the vampire peeping tom. 

“We’ll need a carriage if we’re taking Ismirk and Ireena with us. Without it, we won’t even make it to the bridge across the chasm in time.”

Amelia peers out the window, trying to determine the best path to the gate from their point.

Kessintra will help with Amelia's perception check.

"If we can't find another way, I can probably sneak out on my own. Plenty of darkness and places to hide in here, and I imagine all the attention would be on getting Ireena back."

“I doubt how much the darkness can actually help us hide from vampires… Perhaps one day we’ll return here, with new allies and stronger weapons.”

"I know we will," the drow agrees with a reassuring nod, "For now, let's gather all the information we can. I doubt we'll be invited like this again." Kessintra steels herself to face Strahd at dinner.

You hear Rahadin through the door. "I'm a dusk elf. We split off before Seldraine. Your god, whoever they may be, does not care for me."

The quickest route to the gate is undoubtedly through the front door, how you entered. The fastest path to the front door is probably the route Rahadin took you.
