Only one of the three arrows sink in through the Hobgoblin armor.  The movement forward (20 feet) clearly hindered Ian’s aim.  The one Hobgoblin who was struck by lightning heard Ian and began to move towards him.

Distances... the commander is on the ground unconscious about 10 feet from Tyrus and two Hobgoblin elites.  Ian and Hobgoblin elite #3 are about  20 feet apart.  Ian is 40 feet from Tyrus.  Conalt and Arafiel are 20 feet behind Ian.

The firebolt sails over the Hobgoblin’s head but gets his attention.

Quite wounded, Tyrus places one hand on his holy symbol, the other on his chest. Sending divine energy flowing into his own body to heal his wounds, he stands protectively between the commander and hobgoblins.
