Haha! That’s good, cause I failed the shit outta that saving throw! Tactical Mind won’t even help!
The good news is, you get a second chance, because it's still your turn. The escape DC is the same (13). Or you can take advantage of the fact that, while it's grappling you, it can't really attack anyone else.
Hastos, here is your trolly problem: Stay engulfed as we smash at a creature covering you thus saving us from being attacked, or:
Break free and risk having the creature grab a more vulnerable companion and loose them to a terrible fate of drowning on dry land while their companions try to free them,
I can't do much on the weekend, so I keep refreshing this page in anxious anticipation. 😅
What will our brave fighter do? Incidentally, one character in this game knows everything about its combat tactics, average HP, resistance and vulnerabilities, special abilities, and even how to communicate with it.
The DC to know the same is based on its Hit Dice, so it doesn't take a high roll to get a stat block. Most of the creatures you've encountered up to now, you'd know the stat block by default if you have a +1 to your Int. But higher levels allow for stronger monsters.
Those who dumped in INT will need to rely on the more intelligent party members for useful information.
"Everyone stop! Hastos try tell us something..." looks at him " we not get it...can yu try show? He is...thirsty?..no...he firgot return a library book?..no?"
cheapjoke123 something is wrong with how your Jackal's Knuckles work in your character description. It has two uses:
Damage. You make an attack roll against the target. Your bonus to the roll equals your Strength modifier plus your Proficiency Bonus. On a hit, the target takes Bludgeoning damage equal to 1 plus your Strength modifier and an additional 1d4-1 Piercing damage.
Spell Ability. You make an attack roll against the target. Your bonus to the roll equals your Strength modifier plus your Proficiency Bonus. On a hit, the target takes Bludgeoning damage equal to 1 plus your Strength Modifier, and the target hit is affected by the Infestation spell. You cause a cloud of mites, fleas, and other parasites to appear momentarily on one creature you hit. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC 13), or it takes 1d6 poison damage and moves 5 feet in a random direction if it can move and its speed is at least 5 feet. Roll a d4 for the direction: 1, north; 2, south; 3, east; or 4, west. This movement doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks, and if the direction rolled is blocked, the target doesn’t move. Use limit 1x/day.
You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. Upon a successful attack, you may also roll 1d4-1 damage (Piercing) and add that to your Unarmed Strike damage.
Your 1st and 3rd strikes hit. so you get an extra 1d4-1 per roll, or you can inflict Infestation on the gross slimy creature, if you wish. The item has a use/day limit on infestation, but it could force the creature to move. Hastos might be scratching at flea bites for the rest of the subterranean adventure, but he'll be able to breathe and fight again. So, the choice is yours, otherwise I'd roll the damage for you to continue the battle.
Incidentally, levelling up the Jackal's Knuckles (something Kasi can now do, since she has magic abilities) will improve the claw attack damage to 1d6.

Ah, gotcha, sorry about that first time using them and I'm not super familiar with how to customize an item in DnD beyond. For the moment I re rolled the damage with a D4. 3 total damage for the first attack and 2 total for the second.
It's supposed to also grant you Piercing Damage, but I appear to have left that out of the homebrew notes. You can switch to bludgeoning damage with open-palm attacks, and still get the benefit of a magic attack (+1), though you'll lose the benefit of the claw attack. It's still a way to change your damage type in case you encounter something that has damage resistance or immunity, which may come up in these sewers.

No, it's additional damage. 😅I wouldn't nerf you like that, buddy!
So... if I remember correctly, you did 7+6+3+2, for 18 damage.
