"...creepy statue...but it not attack. " Sera let out a sigh. Regretting fast that she inhale with zombies up close. More dragonarmy soldiers...men who was decieved by Thakisis false promises...she wondered if their families worried what become of tgeir son, brother, husband..." let us press on" she mutters. Sad and promise to herself she return. Abd bring everyone to rest.
Hastos clears his throat uncomfortably. “No.. no, the only ones I cared about were killed a long time ago.” Before Hastos could expand, Merkas continued on…
"Oh yeah I guess that makes sense, you did mention that sorta before, Sorry I brought it up, Just not much to look at back here behind you two, and my mind says you gotta fill the void my eyes aren't filling"Merkas says from the back, realizing that the light is all gone now that Sera and her blade have moved around the other bends. "Hey Blinky, you think you can help us out again?" Merkas dancing light doppleganger appears again. "Now don't go getting smothered by another slime alright, just stay with us to make sure we can see around this place." He points to just behind himself so that the light is cast forward instead of back at them from further up the tunnel."Y'know it might be best to kill off the dead guys just so they don't get out and attack the villagers and stuff, also Sera had a good point of burning them up, if we doget water back in here wouldn't want the rotting flesh of these guys making it bad for the people"
You may have a point.” Hastos says inquisitively. “Perhaps once we have cleared these sewers we should come back here and see what these things do.
"Hope they others don't think about turning the water on before we get outta here..."
“That’s another good idea, Merkas.” Hastos mentions as he pulls his axe around. “Let’s get through this as quickly as possible”
Hastos spins the axe in his hand as he approaches the first of the three zombies. As he steps up next to the green zombie, Hastos brings the axe overhead, then down on the zombie. Using the axes momentum, he swings it back around for another blow. (Double attack on green for a total of 12 damage)
As Sera presses on, the statue's head continues to turn, following Sera with its metallic gaze intently.
Sera passes through the corrider to meet the other zombies in the next chamber. They seem to be very uninterested in you, and will shuffle out of the way if you attempt to pass them by. At the back of the room, there are sealed double doors of thick stone... perhaps an emergency water gate, and a level beside it. There is also a table in the center of the room, with a lockbox resting on it, along with a small stack of blank parchment, a quill, a vial of ink, and an unlit candle similar to the ones Dana provides the refugees. Most likely this is an intake room for new recruits.
Before Nare and Sharn can catch up with you, the statue begins to move from its spot, shoving the zombies roughly to the side and reaching out towards Sera! "False servant! Defiler!" it's voice grates and echoes like metal on metal. The zombies are perplexed and look around with agitation, but don't seem hostile.
Team SNS, please roll Initiative.
Team HOM:
Blinky forges ahead into the dark, wisping right through the zombie Hastos is attacking. While it provides better light, it deepens the shadows and the elves in the party struggle to see as far down.
Hastos's axe lops of an arm with the first chop, then caves in the zombies chest with the second. But the zombie seems unbothered by the attacks and just stands there with a gaping hole in its chest. Ororana finishes the job with a lazy chop to the knees, and Zombie Green crumbles to the ground. She fishes the diamond out of the corpse and wipes her hand off on its clothing. "This is almost too easy, but the pay is great! How many diamonds do you think we'll find under here before we find the cult?"
Blinky stops by an alcove, apparently waiting for instructions. By Blinky's light reveals runic inscriptions on the floor tile he's standing over. Likely it's another trap with a magic trigger, but Blinky can't trip it, since he's basically made of light. The corridor leads to a chamber of unknown size. In the center of the room, you see a sealed manhole cover.
The zombies, which are more easily tricked, continue to stand and blunder around. While the minotaur statue doesn't seem to register Sharn and Nare as threats, it seems to have enough intelligence to recognize a cleric of Paladine and her holy symbol, and charges at Sera with murderous intent!
No change to the map. The zombies can be used as cover, or as a human shield if you grapple them (AC 8). Once grappled, you can move them with you and they will absorb any damage caused by the statue until the zombie is destroyed. They cannot be used to make attacks, but as long as you bare the symbol of Sargonnas, they will not attack you either.
Sera's breath caught as the minotaur statue came to life—stone muscles grinding, eyes glowing with a hateful red light. Its deep voice thundered through the narrow corridor, accusing her of being a defiler, a false disciple of Sargonnas.
For a heartbeat, she considered using one of the zombies as a living shield—but dismissed the thought. It would only delay the inevitable. No, this thing had to be destroyed.
She turned her head just enough to cast a sharp glance back at Sharn and Nare. No words were needed—the message in her eyes was clear: I’ll take its attention. You strike from behind.
With a prayer to Paladine on her lips, Sera met the charging statue head-on. She lifted her radiant sunblade and drove it forward, straight into the minotaur’s stone chest. The magical blade seared as it bit deep—molten cracks forming where holy light met cursed rock, glowing like veins of fire beneath the surface.
( hits ac 27 for 13 radiant damage)
The minotaur snarled, stone grinding against stone as it reeled—but it did not fall.
Sera slammed her shield forward, trying to bash it aside, but the narrow corridor left little room to maneuver. The impact was awkward, glancing off its shoulder rather than striking true. Still, she held her ground, eyes locked with the abomination's burning gaze.
( nat 1 with shield. Miss)
"Now!" she hissed to the others, bracing herself for the counterattack.
The sword hisses against the metal of the statue, but the injury does nothing to deter it, nor does it appear to experience any pain from the attack. Sera's shield rebounds off the statue with a hollow gonging sound. The statue doesn't even attempt to block it.
SunDial365 Nare is up, no change to the map. Statue receives 13 damage (Radiant)
The fact that the statue talks and shows more intelligence than the zombies have grants another INT or Insight Check to determine what it is. Larskolstad, your presumption for the Nat 1 that it's a moving statue is good enough. 😅 No extra notes. But the rest of you can try.
Hastos turns to the group “How about we throw one of these zombies onto that rune and see what happens?” A small smirk smile showing in the corner of his mouth.
“That’s a good idea, maybe we strip the mark off it’s forehead first yeah? That way if the symbols we have stop whatever from happening then the zombie will get hit, that and the other zombie guys may chase that one so we can see if there’s others” Merkas says from somewhere near Ororanas knees, just trying to get a glimpse of what’s further down the hall “Blinky, I said stay behind us so you can shed your light forwards, now it’s like trying to stare past a lantern the constable is shining in you!”
Sera blinked a few times, trying to keep up with Nare’s rapid-fire rambling. Her brow furrowed slightly.
“You talk like a waterfall in a sewer that hasn’t seen water in 300 years,” she muttered under her breath, then added more clearly, “These tunnels were abandoned after the Cataclysm—this whole place was a ruin until recently. Why would anyone set up a statue in a sewer? Seems like nonsense to me.”
Na'haredowell's ears sprang up at that comment. He opened his mouth yet to object but then put his hand by mouth as if to smell his own breath. Then he brings his hand back down as he falters. "Oh- oh. I see. Thank you."
He didn't know of that. He'd been here in Sanketh for quite some time, but never really thought to look at their history. It wasn't needed. Not for his job-
The mouses squeaks. He looks up at the top of his helmet, which the mouse was crouched precariously on the other side of. It has literally only been him and his mouse (Lennie) here. 'Maybe, she's right,' he thinks, 'Maybe I have been in these sewers for quite a while.'He wasn't usually this chatty. He felt like he was grasping at grains here, finding glass when there was only sand. Just like the doomed royal advisor in one of his puppet plays, who thought there was a secret cult ruining the town just below. Wait. No, he was thinking of someone else. Someone real. 'Amelista!'
“Hey... look here,” she called, her voice a coaxing tone like one might use on a lost dog. “A totally non-Sargonnas-approved mortal right here... come now... be a good zombie.”
She paused mid-sentence, realizing how ridiculous it sounded, then muttered to herself: “How do necromancers talk to their creations anyway?”
She took a few slow steps backward to stay clear—just in case. ( Sera try hide her symbol untill they moved past the statue. Then she flash the symbol to stop them from attacking)
“If that thing explodes, I’d rather not be the one who gets turned into soup.”
Nare's big ears caught the small mutter and guffaws at both that question and the tone sounded like she's calling on a lost dog. 'How's it like being the pet now!' he thinks towards the zombies. Stopping himself mid-laugh from being too loud, he inhales a large amount of air. He is then forced to hold it for a couple of seconds, looking like a strange squirrel under his mask. 'Maybe I *really* have lost it down here.'
But the ominous part is when the statue's head turns. It shows no interest in Nare, who still standing right by the statue. But it's lifeless metal eyes seem to be fixated on Sera. Zombie yellow is the first to blast past Nare, raising its decayed claw high for a clumsy strike! But as Sera raises her symbol of Sargonnas, it pauses and stares blankly at the symbol. It shuffles to the wall to let you pass.
The statue doesn't return to its former repose, but doesn't advance either, as if studying you...

Before Nare and Sharn can catch up with you, the statue begins to move from its spot, shoving the zombies roughly to the side and reaching out towards Sera! "False servant! In the midst of all his thoughts, he forgets about the statue, though he already had some thoughts about it as soon as he saw it. His eyes widen at its sudden stare. He jolts his arms up as if to cover his two teammates, but it is too late. Sera was already decried as a false servant.
Nare was about to open his mouth when Sera came charging. The message in her eyes was clear-- Stay back. And he did! No way was he getting on her bad side. The sun blade's light bore deep into his eyes as it cut up the minotaur statue.
Disoriented a bit, he blinks backs fizzy images of salt and sand. He gasps at the sight of the shield missing steel. "It is an eidolon!" he shouts over to the cleric, "You need to dispel it out!"
"Now!"
Taking it a signal for him to attack, Nare sweeps up his arms and the shadows that follow him. They twitch and veer as the hargenon narrows his eyes, sending out the shadows-like tendrils to snake their way towards the statue. Quickly, they encircle the metal-minotaur, launching piston-straight into the surface without leaving a dent. No, they go to wrap around the enemy's mind, choking. "Stop!"he commands, both vocally and psychically, his voice double-echoing in his head. "Not an enemy."

Quote from MrUncleTio >> “Good idea!” Hastos says to Merkas. “Ok, here we go…” Hastos hides the sigil and shouts to the zombies down the corridor, “Come get me, you abominations!” As he makes his way towards the rune
The zombies perk up as if suddenly smelling a delicious meal, then scramble towards Ororana and Merkas as Hastos swerves into the corridor with the rune. Ororana makes a wide stance, and hoists her axe, but right at the bend, Zombie Blue turns and follows Hastos as expected, swinging furiously with rotted clawed hands! But just before it attacks, Hastos flashes the holy symbol, and the zombie goes docile again.
Zombie Red, as if losing the scent, also just stands still, looking a little confused. Ororana starts breathing again and lowers her axe. She flashes a look at Hastos. "Cutting it a bit close, don't you think?"
In the dim light at the edge of Blinky's shadows, Hastos does the dirty work of cutting the symbol off the zombie's forehead. It remains unbothered by the act, until the symbol fully comes off. Once removed, Zombie Blue perks back up and snarls at Hastos! Unbound by the restrictions of the symbol, it swipes a withered claw at you! Splintered nails scrape harmlessly against Hastos's armor, but its hate for you is relentless as it prepares another swipe!
The statue strains and grunts in pain under Nare's mental assault. "Devout of Sargonnas! Why do you attack me? Your enemy is before me! Slay her!" Though its mouth doesn't move, the voice echoes from within the statue, a hollow, brassy tone. The statue moves trembling arms toward Sera, reaching out to crush her in its grasp.
Statue takes 10 Damage (Psychic) Persuasion Check (6): The statue remains unswayed about Sera's nature, but still believes Nare and Sharn are its allies. All party members may roll Int or Insight again to know the stat block of the creature. (Nare already knows it.) All party members may roll a Medicine check to know the approximate remaining HP of the statue. cheapjoke123, you're up. Battle Map remains unchanged.
As the zombie turns docile again, Hastos shouts back to Ororana as he begins carving the sigil off the walking corpse, “Sorry, I wanted to make sure it was close to the rune before I -WOAH!” Hastos response shifted suddenly as the corpse immediately turned hostile. Hastos calm tone shifted dramatically into a more urgent one. “Shit! He’s angry again!” (Initiative: 18)
The sounds of scuffling can be heard as the two two wrestle for leverage. The wild flailing and gnashing of teeth was all Hastos could do to control. Hastos had the zombie by the neck and one arm restrained, but the flailing and pure hatred made it difficult to hold on to,
Zombie Red shows signs of confusion, but slowly turns to Zombie Blue and hisses angrily. Without the holy symbol on its forehead, Zombie Red is slowly coming to the decision that Zombie Blue is an intruder.
Battle Map is unchanged. Initiative Order: Hastos, Ororana, Zombie Blue, Merkas, (Zombie Red?) MrUncleTio Hastos is up.
Hastos sees zombie red turn on zombie blue. He’s suddenly filled with the urge to watch two zombies fight it out, but the chaos could have unintended consequences. He determines the best course of action would be to stick to the plan, attempting to kick the unmarked zombie across the rune.
Sera see the statue must be awesome dumb...but is it hurt? Can it be wounded or will it just shatter at a certain point? She try observe it as she gets ready to take it's blow.
Hastos grips the gnashing zombie by the wrist and twists, flinging it over his should like a sack of potatoes! Zombie Blue goes flying onto the tile with the glyph on it. As the zombie starts to stand, the glyph glows. Zombie Blue crouches and glares at you before FWOOM! it's engulfed in flames! The explosion rocks the corrider and echoes throughout the eastern half of the sewers so much that Ororana covers her ears.
MrUncleTio please roll a Perception Check (pass/fail DC 15)
Team SNS:
You hear a thump echo down the corridors and feel vibrations in the ground. It's enough to make the statue pause and turn its head the other way towards the eastern tiunnels.
cheapjoke123 you may attack with Advantage, due to the suprise. Larskolstad, and SunDial365, on your turns, you may also attack with Advantage.
The explosion from the trap rings Hastos's ears enough for him to hear mostly just a tone.
Before Hastos can shake the shock of the explosion, a large steel spear pierces the smoke and hurdles towards Hastos, pounding into his shield with bone-shaking force enough to stagger you backwards a step. The spear deflects off the shield's surface and collides into the hallway walls, shooting sparks and chipping stone, until it clatters onto the ground near Ororana's feet. As the smoke from the blast of the trap clears, you can see that the zombie is little more than ash and a few charred chips of bone... and yet another diamond glistening amongst the soot. Down the corrider you hear a clanking and cranking sound. It takes several seconds before the clanking stops, and a final, loud click that echoes ominously down the corridor before going silent.
The glyph appears to be scorched enough to have been broken.
Hastos feels the concussion from the blast compress his head like being slapped on either side of his ears. His sight goes fuzzy and instinctively he raises his shield as the large spear hits him like a mule kick, staggering him. Hastos has a hard time determining what’s going on. His dazed eyesight not being able to distinguish what was blurry from what was smoke.
As his senses start to recover, the ringing in his ears starts. He gives himself a quick look over and sees that he hasn’t been harmed. Then notices the rune had apparently been damaged by the blast. Everything sounds like it’s underwater, but his hearing is good enough to hear the unmistakable sounds of a mechanism loading up another spear.
”Stay clear of the corridor!” Hastos yells back at the others. He can’t tell how loudly he shouted, but time wasn’t on their side and they needed to get a move on.
Hastos turns back to towards the rune, takes a deep breath and dives over it and rolls into a prone position, laying flat on the floor.
Past the edge of Blinky's light range, Hastos's eyes adapt to the dark, and you can see ahead of you into the chamber beyond. It appears to be an empty room. To the far northeast of the chamber, there is a lever. In the center of it, there is what appears to be a sealed manhole. But the seal has been disturbed.
Ororana presses against the wall of the corridor facing north and south, doing her best to make sure the holy symbol remains visible, while putting a staying hand on Merkas's shoulder. "Merkas, sweetie... wanna send your little double out there to see what in the hells just happened?"
Zombie Red loses interest in what's going on here, and begins shuffling slowly down the corridor that Hastos went through. There's no sense of haste in their movement, or direction. Any hallway is as good as the next.

MrUncleTio and Hrothbert_Neruca, please roll Initiative for your characters.
Team SNS:
The statue strains and grunts in pain under Nare's mental assault. "Devout of Sargonnas! Why do you attack me? Your enemy is before me! Slay her!" Though its mouth doesn't move, the voice echoes from within the statue, a hollow, brassy tone. The statue moves trembling arms toward Sera, reaching out to crush her in its grasp.
Statue takes 10 Damage (Psychic)
Persuasion Check (6): The statue remains unswayed about Sera's nature, but still believes Nare and Sharn are its allies.
All party members may roll Int or Insight again to know the stat block of the creature. (Nare already knows it.)
All party members may roll a Medicine check to know the approximate remaining HP of the statue.

Team HOM:
Hastos grips the gnashing zombie by the wrist and twists, flinging it over his should like a sack of potatoes! Zombie Blue goes flying onto the tile with the glyph on it. As the zombie starts to stand, the glyph glows. Zombie Blue crouches and glares at you before FWOOM! it's engulfed in flames! The explosion rocks the corrider and echoes throughout the eastern half of the sewers so much that Ororana covers her ears.
MrUncleTio please roll a Perception Check (pass/fail DC 15)

You hear a thump echo down the corridors and feel vibrations in the ground. It's enough to make the statue pause and turn its head the other way towards the eastern tiunnels.

Team HOM:
Team SNS:
cheapjoke123, to keep the game moving forward, I may have to delay your initiative until the end of the round tomorrow, making it so the statue will go next, then you.
