Lyrena roars a heroic tale from her ancestors beyond the grave, causing three of the cloakers to instantly vanish but leaving the real one wrapped around Davis!

Vanizi hesitates just a moment as she sees the cloaker attached to Davis.  But she goes ahead and casts her Eldritch Blast at the creature.

Vanizi sends three blasts of energy at the creature, hitting with all three. Davis' grunts as each blast impacts the cloaker makes you think that some of the damage must be passing through to the halfling! (Davis takes half of the damage while the cloaker is attached...so 14 points.)

Athletics: 28 [Used Luck Point]

Davis is able to wrestle the cloaker off of himself a split-second before Vanizi's three eldritch blasts slam into the creature! (No damage to Davis - cloaker takes full brunt, which will be enough to kill it =) Combat over!)

The party makes it quickly to the aft section of the ship with no further attacks. Inda offers to heal anyone who needs it (like Davis...). Both captain and crew are overjoyed at being reunited, and a feast is announced by Kycera. The second mate even indicates that she will open up a barrel of wine to celebrate the return of Captain Inda.

An elf who you didn't meet previously gets your attention and asks for a moment of your time. "I'm Daveras. I joined the camp after my lifeboat crashed into Havock a couple weeks ago. I was originally a bos'n on the Verdant Branch, which was attacked by space pirates. I escaped on a lifeboat with my best friend, a dog named Ikasa, as well as a treant named Redbud. The lifeboat crashed into a different segment of the wreck, and I outran the raiders to get to this camp on the stern segment. I doubt anyone else survived, but could you keep an eye out for my shipmates?"

"Whoa, nice shot" the paladin says as Vanizi blasts the Cloaker out of his hands! "I mean shots!"

[Davis is only down 13 but will gladly take the healing!]

"A dog and a tree? Sounds like your in the right place, a place where you move by thinking! Perhaps tomorrow we can go looking for your friends?"

Zyl happily floats along with the others, completely unperturbed by Davis's escape from the cloaker. She slips down to meet Daveras with a smile and a brownie. "Oh yeah hey how you doing? Want a brownie? Do your friends need a brownie? I think I still have a few here somewhere..."

Vanizi too greets Daveras. "Good to meet you. And sure, if we see anyone from the Verdant Branch we'll be sure to let them know you are here." She the looks at Davis and Zyl, who are near at hand. "Do we stay for the celebration? Or should we be seeing to that piece of that rod?" 

"Nice to meet you, Daveras. I'm Vesta," the sorceress introduces herself. "That's awful. We will definitely keep an eye out for your friends. I hope they have survived, despite the odds."

In response to Vanizi's question, Vesta says, "We could probably stay for a little while, long enough to eat at least, before heading out to find the rod."

"Excellent! A celebration it is then," Vanizi says. "Though perhaps just one glass of wine."  She then grins, "Ok, maybe two if it's particularly good wine!"  

(You know, this is actually a good point in the story to take a long rest! A celebration with the crew, getting to meet the few others you didn't encounter the first time, sharing tales of bravery and foolishness... =)

 Let me know when you are ready to proceed to the starboard segment - between the aft and prow sections - to deactivate the other warding rune and perhaps find Daveras' friends!

Zyl is ready whenever, she's just hanging out, having a brownie, and probably totally not annoying anyone with her recipe suggestions.

Vesta is also ready. She's been enjoying the celebration, eating and drinking and getting to know the rest of the crew. Do we get a long rest or a short rest?

"Let's go get that Rod piece!"

Vanizi is very happy to partake in the wine and any food. She hopes there might be some music too.  Since they're resting for the night, she definitely has more than one glass of wine. 

Upon waking, she is ready to continue their search. "First to deactivate the ward and then on to get the rod!" she says enthusiastically. 

The passage to the mid-section is thankfully unchallenged. As you approach, you see the wreckage of a lifeboat jutting from a starboard section of the Lambent Zenith’s deck. Atop this smaller wreck is a stout tree with vibrant pink and red blossoms. The flooring of the main deck is uneven, with roots woven around the planks of both lifeboat and main deck. 

"Wow! What a beautiful tree!" Vanizi exclaims as they mid-section of the ship. "And that looks like it must be the lifeboat Daveras mentioned. We found it so quickly."  She starts to move towards the tree. "Amazing how such a big tree has grown and has roots everywhere! I thought they all weren't here that long."  She wants to get a closer look at the fabulous pink and red blossoms of the tree. 

"Ooh fancy tree huh! I have tree back at my place too but this one is pretty good yeah? I don't think trees like brownies though...but they have sticks right!?"

"Hello! You must be Redbud. We are friends of Daveras. He is worried and has been looking for you and Ikasa. We can take you to him if you like, or let him know where your at?"
