Arne fills a tray with a pot of tea, and a goblet of cream, and follows Kyreth upstairs.
Upon a knock Adrian opens the door to welcome Exa and Kyreth. He takes the tray from Arne with a nod.
Delilah is awaiting them, one foot perched on another chair greatly swollen, as Althea bends to heal it.
Cassee Dannell is encircled by a group of Maskarrans all loaded for bear. On the table is a crystal box with its lid open, arcane sigils glowing. Did you get it? she asks, her face strained with worry.
As Arne goes back downstairs he notices an old ally, Hrothnar Stonecrusher enter, he looks quite drawn. You look like you've seen a ghost Hrothnar, what can I get you.
A bottle of your finest Dwarf Spirits, and I hope never to see the like again. If you see her, tell Cassee that I did my best for her. I'm going to talk to the University and see if we can reinstate her. He takes the bottle and goes to sit in his favourite armchair by the fire, filling his goblet with spirits. It was going to be a long night. He shuddered at the near miss they'd had with the egg.
The bard pats Hrothnar on the shoulder in encouragement before heading upstairs to join the others. Seeing Cassee and the case on the table, his tail flicks in curiosity.
"Hm, so this will prevent the egg from hatching...? Are you sure it is impossible to perhaps...tame the hatchling?" He broaches the topic carefully. "It did seem to react to my song."
No! it needs to be contained, the sooner the better. If its not put in the box soon it will start its transformation and we don't have the manpower to stop it. If the danger was less, say an owlbear I'd say give it a try after all music supposedly calms an angry beast. Do you want me to take it out of the bag and get this over and done with? The Tethys has agreed to take me out to sea to throw it in the ocean as far from civilisation as possible. I'll just be away a couple of days.
The bard sighs before giving a nod. "...Yes, I suppose it isn't worth risking the whole city. I'm just feeling a bit sentimental since it inspired a fine song, if I say so myself."
"An excellent song indeed..." The young dark-haired lady says and removes her mask, helping herself to a glass of exquisite burgundy. "...and while the egg will safely rest at the bottom of the sea your song will live on to commemorate this our first heist together, the first of many I hope."She continues, raising her glass in a toast to her fine accomplices with a pleased smile, the tiny mischiveous fey appearing on her shoulder, he too seeming quite pleased with his evening.
Mavilius grins wide, unable—and frankly unwilling—to mask the proud glint in his golden eyes. He raises his own glass with a graceful flourish, the deep burgundy catching the candlelight like a jewel. “To the first of many indeed,” he says smoothly, his voice tinged with warmth and playful mischief. “The bottom of the sea…not such a terrible resting place for such a dangerous little treasure. Perhaps one day, when I’ve truly mastered my craft, I’ll play for it again.” His smile lingers as he clinks his glass lightly against Delilah’s, already savoring the thrill of their triumph.
Cassee picked up the bag and opened it, it had many magical pockets but she was feeling around at the bottom until she felt the right shape and pulled it out. The light within was glowing ominously, and the party was sure that they saw it move inside like a slug. She quickly placed it in the enchanted box and shut the lid. After a murmured command the crystal box shimmered and the hinges disappeared. It glowed blue and then the cube changed size to fit the egg. A perfect fit. Cassee sighed with relief.
I have little to give you all, I spent most of my savings making the box. Please accept this Bag of Holding as payment it will serve you well on your adventures.
You all have quarters at the Temple whilst on Golden Vault business. I'll get Jasper to assess any items that you picked up back at the map room. She smiles seriously. That went well. I'd like to hear your song sometime Mavilius. Did you find a Patron?
Marcus, escort Dr Dannell to the ship and take passage with her, I don't want a situation in the Docks from the Zhentarim. One of the clerics pulled out a rough canvas sack and put the box into it. He and three others left the room with Cassee. The sooner they put to sea the better.
The young dark-haired lady too is relishing their moment, savouring her wine, dancing on her sensetive tastebuds. "Ah yes, we appreciate the gift of your precious bag, I'm certain it will be of much help in future endeavours, but there is really no need for any rewards for saving ourselves from this eldritch horror, we are only glad to be of assistance, and while the consequences of failure would have been dire indeed I have had a wonderful evening so far."She says with a warm smile to the good doctor.
"Oh, he found several patrons, or rather, they found him..." Delilah says with a grin, glancing over at Mavilius. "...evidently he is booked to appear both for some drow matron somewhere in that dreary underdark as well as some even drearier dwarven halls, he will be missed of course but we will simply have to manage without him as he goes on his tour."She says with a teasing grin to the musical tiefling.
"Good luck now doctor and thanks for a lovely evening, and for saving the city too of course." She says as Cassee and her escort leaves.
Kyreth sits quietly, sipping tea and watching the crystal box do its work. A tremor runs down his spine as he sees movement in the egg before it is caged. "Aye, an interesting evening and I think it was just in time." He raises his cup in a toast "To future endeavours, preferably without the fate of the world involved."
He looks at Delilah and Thistle "I think your companion enjoyed himself too."
"Yes, you did, didn't you you little rascal." The young dark-haired lady says with a small smile, giving the tiny dark fey on her shoulder an affectionate pet, making him squirm with satisfaction before disappearing for some well deserved rest in the Feywild court. "And I suppose all heists for the Golden Vault would not be about saving the world, that would quickly turn tedious, but I believe there was something ahead about discreetly collecting owings from a casino owner?" Delilah continues, glancing over at Althea
Yes there is, once we're done here and Jasper is finished with you, we'll make a start on it with the musical box. Take a day off to relax and have a celebration.
Althea made sure that the party was settled. Eat and drink what you want, Arne lays a fine table. I've already paid for the room and vittles. Enjoy yourselves, I'll meet you back at the Map Room. She turned and placed her velvet mask back over her face, only her eyes showing. Victor make sure these four get back to the Temple in one piece, please.
"Thank you, High Cleric," Exa says with uncharacteristic earnestness, though it's tempered somewhat by the moustache of cream that lines her top lip.
The tabaxi is keenly aware of the masterwork set of thieves' tools the High Cleric had deposited in her pocket. It is perhaps the finest belonging she's ever had. To her it is a treasure more than any of the gems they liberated from the museum.
Exa saunters back into the map room with the swaying lope of someone who’s slept too little and laughed too much. Her whiskers twitch as she sips from a flask of chilled cream she’d filled from Arne's stock before she left The Sage’s Quill. She'd spent the night besting the museum's scholars at Three Dragon Ante. Not that she's particularly good at the game itself, but she can cheat like nobody else. Of course, if her companions also stayed at the tavern, she would have enjoyed hearing about each of their escapades for the evening and sharing tall tales of her antics in nights past.
Exa
Arne receives a wry, toothy grin as Exa nods eagerly.
"Went off without a hitch. Well, for us at least. Their guards might feel differently," she says with a purred chuckle.
She pads towards the stairs leading to the upper floor.
Kyreth
"Actually, do you have any more of the tea from earlier? It was rather good." Kyreth heads upstairs, clutching the bag.

"But let's not ruin it by letting out a city-destroying creature," she adds, grinning. "To the sea with it!"
She is obviously riding high off their apparent success.

Exa waves a forgiving hand to dispel Cassee's apology.
"Don't worry about all that, miss. This bag is a treasure in itself!"
The tabaxi knows just how many gems have been slipped into the bag. Payment enough, in her mind.
She dips a spoon greedily into the thick cream and slurps a large mouthful.
"Well done, everyone."
