The young dark-haired lady quickly looks through the list of enchanted items and then picks out a pact rod and a manual to purchase for her gold.
Assuming there were no other business at the temple this morning Delilah is rather looking forward to that free day in the City of wonders, insisting on Mavilius to take her on a guided tour that should start with a carriage around the city to see all the sights, then lunch at some opulent place by the sea, then afternoon at some fancy spa before an exquisite cousine dinner, an opera, and finally a late night tour of the city's most noteworthy bars and taverns, including some gambling halls to prepare herself a bit for the next mission. She would use her 250 pieces of gold to cover all expenses, willfully gambling away anything that remains in the end, which is how interested she is in collecting gold.
The next morning she is ready for the next Golden Vault mission.
Kyreth spends many hours in his room, working through his new manual. At the end of the day he begins to feel a new fluidity to his movements even though he is only a quarter of the way through huge tome.
The next morning, after a few hours sleep, he makes his way to join the others for their next briefing.
The bard is more than happy to oblige Delilah's wish for a tour: directing the carriage with flair and scandalous commentary, charming their way into the best seaside table for lunch, and indulging in scented oils and silken robes at the spa as if born to it. By dinner, he’s serenading her at their table between bites of opulent fare, and at the opera, he critiques the performers with the mischievous air of someone who could do better—but is too polite to say it above a whisper.
And through the night, from one tavern to the next, with dice and cards and laughter spilling freely, Mavilius never once counts the coin—only the memories. As dawn creeps over the rooftops and Delilah stands ready for the next mission, he joins her in the music box room with a grin. “If the next job’s half as daring as last night’s tour, we may yet earn a ballad worthy of the both of us.”
Exa finally settles on some new gloves and a hat, putting them both on immediately.
If Manvilius and Delilah would allow her, she joins them on the tour of the city, though she can offer Delilah little in his knowledge of fancy and well-to-do places. Instead, she points out places for such people to avoid, and highlights the little corners and alleyways that her former light-fingered colleagues would work.
At each of their dining spots for the day, Exa appears as a different character as she gets a feel for her new hat.
In the map room the following day, she appears eager and energised to embark on a new job.
"What's next?" she asks, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
OOC: 5500 spent on Gloves of Thievery and Hat of Disguise.
Althea meets you in the map room, a tiny gold key in her hand. The musical box is back on the table.
Good we're all here let's see about this Casino.
The musical box opens and once again you here the slightly accented voice coming from the dragon.
"Greetings, operatives. An ally of the Golden Vault named Verity Kye had her life's savings stolen from her by a devious gambling partner. We've found an opportunity to right this wrong. This quest, should you choose to undertake it, requires you to infiltrate the Afterlife Casino and steal a statuette and a sum of money. Meet with Verity at the Brine Widow tavern to learn more details. Good luck, operatives."
"Time to go gambling again then. Considering last nights losings on my part I should perhaps leave any actual betting to those better suited for that, but I would endeavour to meet with this devious gambling partner, I'm sure they would be interested in tricking a young wealthy and inexeprienced lady out of her excess of gold." The young dark-haired lady says with a smirk. "Ready when you are." She turns and says to her dear accomplices.
Verity Kye is a member of the faithful, the gnome involved is Zhentarim. She should never have trusted him. The Brine Widow tavern is on the Docks. It's usually full of sailors who have just been paid and are eager to gamble and go wenching at the nearby brothel. Keep together, I don't want any of you to become a victim of the Zhents slave trade or press ganging.
I know little about it save it is a new Casino. It's opening night starts with the 3 Dragon Ante game and intends to attract gamblers who enjoy high stakes. Verity will be able to tell you much more. The biggest thing to be aware of is the Zhents involvement, amongst other things they are running security. I also have heresay that says that only Tieflings are employed by the Casino which gives us an opportunity of getting Kyreth and Mavilius on staff.
With a grin, Exa adjusts the peak of her brand new cap and as she does a flash of fuchsia energy swirls around the tabaxi, curling brightly around her feline form. Though once it dissipates, it's no tabaxi standing in the map room but another tiefling. Her skin is a rusty orange and her single horn curls tightly on the left side of her head. The other horn has seemingly been broken off. Her tail swishes behind her in the familiar, languid way Exa's often does.
"Perhaps I could, too," she offers with a suggestive raise of her eyebrows.
"So I'm going from wearing a lowly student's uniform to a lowly server's uniform." Kyreth sighs melodramatically "I'm beginning to feel like I'm being typecast."
"Do we know what roles the tieflings have?" he looks to Althea. "Is there a time limit on this job, or do we have more time for reconnaissance and planning?"
The bard listens with interest, lost in his thoughts for a moment. "Ah, the docks...My birthplace, as it happens. I've been meaning to finish a song inspired by it. This will make a fine opportunity." He smirks at Exa's perfect transformation. "Only Tiefling workers, eh? Sounds like the owner has a type...Oh, 'Afterlife'! So it's Hells themed, I suppose. Should be fun."
As I said I have little knowledge of the Casino from what I can tell you there are croupiers, waiting staff, spa workers and entertainment including a small circus. Verity can tell you more. Do you want me to arrange a carriage down to the docks? It isn't really safe to walk through the Docks district unless it's in numbers or crew.
"Let's take a carriage," Exa says as she lets her disguise fall and she stands as a Tabaxi once more.
"No point gambling on our lives before we even get to the casino." There's a big grin on her face that shows just how proud she is of her play on words.
The bard's eyes sparkle in excitement at the mention of a circus. Such possibilities...Coming back to his senses, nods in agreement with Exa. "Indeed, a carriage would be wise. I got out of that miserable district as soon as I could for a reason, after all."
"So back to your old neighbourhoods then dearest, but why didn't you take us there yesterday?" The young dark-haired lady says with a teasing smile. "If you all infiltrate the casino as staff members I will hardly be needed for this one, You will probably find me relaxing at that spa." She adds with an amused smile. "Now, a carriage it is then, let's see what Verity Kye has to say."

"Don't worry. We'll stay out of the Zhent's grimy little hands," Exa says with a wrinkle of her nose and a disdainful twitch of her whiskers.
OOC: Being from Waterdeep, would Exa know anything about the Afterlife Casino?
DM
Exa has never heard of the Afterlife Casino, though she is aware of high stakes games that normally take place in the merchants district taverns.
Exa
"What can you tell us about the Afterlife Casino?" she asks the High Cleric.
"I've never heard of it, and I've been around a lot of folks who like to toss their coin!"

Althea accompanied them back to the door of her Temple. In the road outside were two open carriages, you were going to travel the way merchants do.
Brine Widow in the Docks please she said and the coachmen nodded. Then wait for them.
