The bard grins, all the more excited that his colleagues will be able to attend. "You'll just have to see for yourself," he remarks with a wink before heading back to the casino.
The excitement was palpable. The Afterlife Casino was packed with people taking part in everything whilst waiting for the high rollers to start their game for the night. It was strange to see the Casino from the point of view of a client. You split up to make your own way to the circus arena.
Mavilius finds Sihon shouting in the strange language that was common to the family in the ready room. It is almost time for the grand parade showing off animals and acrobats alike walking the arena, before the show.
Mavilius lingers just inside the ready room, taking in the organized chaos. Sihon’s voice cuts through it all, shouting in that sharp, fluid language that still dances just out of his understanding. With a curious smile, Mavilius approaches, keeping his tone light and respectful. “You speak beautifully, Sihon. What tongue is that? I’ve heard it before among your kin.”
As he speaks, his golden eyes scan the lineup of creatures being prepped for the parade until a particularly impressive one catches his eye. His tail flicks with anticipation as he gently strums a few chords, using the lute's magic and a piece of bread from dinner to try casting Animal Friendship (Wis DC 13) on it, hoping to win its trust before the grand procession begins.
The language? What do you care? It's trade tongue an earlier version of common in Moonshae. Grab a swig of the animal friendship potion, I don't want you attacked by the baboons. The menagerie consists of baboons, dogs and a very friendly lion.
Mavilius lifts his hands in mock surrender, a playful smile tugging at his lips. “Just curious, is all. Wouldn’t it be amazing to speak with anyone, no matter their tongue?"To connect, or control, with just a word? He chuckles softly at his own thought, the flick of mischief in his golden eyes betraying a deeper fascination. His gaze shifts to the baboons, watching them chatter and stalk with nervous energy. “Although,” he adds with a sheepish grin, “perhaps it’s wiser to take your advice.” He uncorks the potion and takes a quick swig, eyes still on the beasts, warily respectful of their strength.
"Of course I will come and enjoy the show." The young dark-haired lady says with an amused smile, finishing up her meal. "You're coming too Exa?" She asks the feline ready to head back to the Afterlife Casino for some late night entertainment.
I'll enter the arena first then the family troupes in, dancing dogs, fierce baboons and then the lion under my whip. Choose a good spot in the arena for your music. We start with the dancing dogs and male juggling with the hoops that the dogs jump in and out of. Good show for the dog lovers. Gauge the feel of the clients and we work to their feel. Lion taming is last.
"I wouldn't miss it!" Exa jumps out of her seat and prepares to head back to the casino. She reaches down to take a hunk of stew-soaked bread with her.
Mavilius nods thoughtfully, adjusting his sleeves as he scans the arena layout. “Gauge the feel…that’s not so different from my usual performances,” he muses aloud, a faint smirk playing at his lips. “I’ll find a spot with a good view and better acoustics."
A drumbeat started from one of the male performers, a marching rhythm. Sihon entered the ring followed by dogs and his male performers juggling, the dogs dancing in the air behind them. The baboons next hissing at the crowd and showing their teeth. Then Sihon walks back to the entrance leading the lion.
Watch for wonders unknown! Stare in awe at the trapeze dancers, he gestured at his three daughters dressed in scanty sequins, their clothing a pale beige. Watch the dogs dance! Be wary for the baboons bite, do not tempt them to fight.
Accompanied by Exa and a pleasant conversation, the young dark-haired lady returns to the casino, getting good seats where they can enjoy the circus performance. She isn't particularly fond of the circus keeping animals and hopes they are treated well. She clpas enthusiastically though, keeping her eyes open for her favourite minstrel.
Mavilius lets the rhythm settle in his chest, timing his entrance with the pulsing beat as he steps into his chosen place, just close enough to the ring to be seen while giving the animals ample room to work. As Sihon’s voice rings out, the bard plucks a low, tense chord from his lute, drawing the crowd’s attention further toward the spectacle.
The crowd applaud the parade, everyone calling for their favourite act.
As the animals wend back into the ready room, the men start an intricate act juggling. They move on to hoop juggling and the dogs are let in. The terriers flying threw thrown hoops without touching the edges.
As the crowd warm up Sihon releases the ropes and trapeze bars. His three daughters entering the ring by by cartwheeling and back flips. The crowd roars its approval.
The young dark-haired lady gives the pink tiefling a small wave as he enters and then settles back into her seat to enjoy the show. The dogs were cute, perhaps too cute for the casino guests. She had no trouble imagining they were enjoying the perforamce of the three daughters though.
The pink bard gives a slightly larger smile and tip of his head in response to Delilah's wave, having spotted his friends in the crowd easily. Observing the crowds entranced reaction to Sihon's daughters, he shifts to a more enchanting, otherworldly melody to accompany them.
As the girls swung high and rolled in each others strong arms, no net below them. The crowd claps and stomps their feet. Enthralled by the women and the music swelling up from the arena.
Eventually the girls swung down on their safety ropes and bowed to the crowd. As they passed into the ready room, one of the brothers comes through leading the baboons dressed in vests.
They moved around the arena in a show of acrobatics that a human would find difficult. Luckily the clients eyes were not seeable, so the highly strung baboons kept to their set.
