Dorno sits with Val all night, watching her sleep when he can but nodding off and snoring much of the rest of the time. In the morning he helps her get onto the wagon to try to rest despite the rocky terrain.
Around midday Dorno suddenly stands from his spot next to Val and looks more alert than normal. "Something bad on the wind! Dorno knows animal smells, but this is worse. Maybe more trouble, friends!" Dorno looks around and up at the high, rocky terrain around them. "Thunder man, watch big lady....please." Dorno jumps off of Jex's cart and is in his cougar form in a flash, scampering up the cliffs nearby to get a better view of anyone stalking them from on high or in the pass behind or in front of them. Seeing a goblin scout the cougar climbs a few feet back down the cliff so the party can see him and makes what is a very odd gesture for a wild animal as Dorno tries to point a paw up and ahead of them to tell the party where the danger lies. He considers charging ahead atop the cliffs to take out the scout, but isn't sure he could do it alone.
Vark does his normal ritual then returns to venture on with the party. As Dorno seems to spot some sort of danger, Vark casts a magnetic field of protection around himself in anticipation of more goblinoid threats. "W-we're definitely close... I hope... I hope we're in time." he mutters, looking at the rest of his friends for direction on how to proceed.
Jex had been riding casually on top of the wagon, avoiding the tense emotion of his companions. As Dorno gives his warning he is already catching the scent himself and he sits up, bow in hand by his side but trying not to look too alert.
"I hope you all enjoyed last night, because a second ambush is coming. Keep the ranks close, brace and ready your attacks as they close, do not break the line, if they have space to run between us we are done."
He watches Dorno on the ridge.
"Looks like we have a few strides left at best. Hit them hard and show no fear."
The goblin snarls as it sees Jex straighten, and pulls out a twisted horn. It blows hard and the sound echoes about the pass. Across the way on the far side, another horn sounds and up ahead goblin worg riders come charging down the sides of the pass!
Everyone roll initiative and place yourselves on the map around the wagon.
Thurston helps Hurrig bury his friends, and then assures Dorno that he will look after Val while he explores ahead.
When he hears the horn he gets ready and, for the first time while the rest know him, he takes his shield reading it for battle.
He hits the shield several times with his hammer, producing echoes along the pass and yells in his tongue to the goblins in defiance. He continue hitting his shield with a crescendo rithm, making the blood of his companions to run faster as their hearts uncousciosly follow the beat.
From her position inside the caravan, resting Val sniffs the air and recognizes that the foul smell likely means one thing; enemies. She is already preparing and loading her crossbow as Dorno and Jex begin warning everyone. She nods to Thurston as she climbs atop the wagon with her large crossbow in hand, takes a knee as she surveys the battlefield ahead, and notices the mounted goblin directly to their front. She sights him down and with a heavy snap that echoes in the narrow confines of the pass the bolt leaps free! The goblin has barely enough time to catch the projectile on its shield, but the impact nearly knocks him from his mount and it lets loose a cry of pain. "Next one goes into your neck! Let us pass in peace or you all die! Just like your fellows from the cave!" She shouts loudly enough for all the goblins to hear.
Vark runs forward alongside his companions while a flurry of snow begins to whip around him. Hoping to slow down the approaching cavalry, he releases a blast of icy magic at the first beast he sees. The ray hits, scattering ice crystals across the mangy fur.
Cursing that everybody ignored the plan, Jex lets a quick shot fly at a worg, grazing it's left front leg before leaping from the wagon and hiding from sight.
Worgs fly down the mountainside towards the wagon from all directions. One slams into Vark, dragging the half-orc's legs out from underneath him and savaging him with its stinking maw. Another snaps, but finds no purchase. The goblin riders lash out brutally with their scimitars and almost all the sorcerer can do is tusk his head down and hope for the best as he's battered by the blows.
Vark takes 7 points of piercing damage and 8 points of slashing damage to vigour -> 5/20 Vigour.
Three other riders loose arrows at Hurrig as they surge forwards, but the dwarf skilfully knocks them all aside with shield and heavy armour.
From the high sides of the pass two scouts ride out to meet with the raiding party. One looses an additional arrow at Bründir's flank, forcing him to twist awkwardly to raise his shield in time.
Bründir takes 6 points of damage to vigour -> 15/21 Vigour.
On the other side of the pass, another almost runs into Dorno as it crests the edge of the cliffs, reflexively shooting at him with an arrow.
Dorno takes 7 points of damage to cougar form -> 6/13 Cougar.
Thurston starts to move towards the goblins and their mounts. He is still bashing his shield as he moves faster and faster until he passes the wagon and then charges forward with a battle cry calling for his God.
When he is just a few feet from the wargs he jumps and smash one of them with his warhammer wich erupts in lighting across its surface and spreads to the body of the warg when he hits it.
One of the creature’s leg brokes with the impact and it retaliate bitting him back in the arm. Thurston looks at it, scream at it on its face with a roar and makes it open it’s jaws. Blood flows from the wounds but the paladin seems not to notice it.
Bründir's anger at his home being invaded subsided from burning to smoldering after his bloody warnings were placed. It was only after returning that he noticed the cairns. Bründir stared at them for a moment, trying to piece which was was which, and remembered his first pass through the area when it was just a few kobolds.
He left Hurrig and the cairns on their own; there was nothing he could say. He didn't know the pain to express comfort, and vengence was a useless thing unless your enemy was in front of you. As the rest of the night passed, he remembered a song chanted by armies and droned by processions of mourners.
Some folk we never forget,/Some kind we never forgive./Haven't seen the back of us yet,/we will fight as long as we live.

Wargs. Why did the little cretins have to bring their thrice-inbred devil-hounds? At first, Bründir reach for his javelins until he measured their diatance and figured they'd be here too soon. By the time his decision was made, Vark had charged ahead of him. The dwarf's pride in his ally vanished to smoke as he was overtaken by several riders. Charging forward, Bründir rushed the one Vark had hit with ice and swund his sword. The beast thought twice and reared back to dodge and Bründir considered pressing his advantage until he saw the rider and thought better of it. "Don't let them surround us! Hold the damn line! Hurrig, get up 'ere or do somethin' to hold'em back. Val an' Jex, if they try workin' 'round, shove somethin' up their asses an' make'em think ag'in!"

Dorno is disappointed in himself for being too late to really do much about the ambush. Still clinging to the rock high up on the cliff the cougar lets out a loud, feral scream and receives a response from the familiar bear spirit as it appears at the bottom of the cliff halfway between Dorno and the others, bolstering the druid and his friends. Dorno's feline form then eyes the worg nearby and circles up and away from the enemy further up the cliff before turning and dashing down and leaping at the goblin rider and attempting to take it off of its mount.
Bonus Action: Bear spirit for 8 temp HP for all. (I believe I can get it right in the center of all PC's such that everyone gets the buff, pending DM approval.)
Action: pounce claw attack, 23 attack roll, 3 damage, DC12 STR to avoid being knocked prone in some fashion
Seeing Vark taking so many brutal strikes calls Valaith to action, ignoring the still painful wound in her stomach she drops her crossbow as she leaps down from the wagon! She whips her shield out in front of her, drawing one of her wicked axes from her side as she does, and lets out a loud roar of challenge! She slides into position next to Brundir as everyone feels the oddly supportive sting of frost as tiny spirits begin to swirl around them and creating a protective layer of frost. Valaith swings her axe at the worg standing over Vark, the head sinking deep into its rear leg and tearing out a hunk of flesh as blood begins to flow freely down the beasts leg!
Vark clearly isn't expecting to be the very front of their line. He looks back at his companions running up behind him, then turns to the wargs and goblins just as they tear into him like a crushing wave of steel and claws. The sorcerer hits the ground hard and struggles to stand as he takes blow after blow. Finally as his friends reach him and clash with the enemies, he is able to shakily stand on his feet. With a low grunt and a scowl he swings his staff like a bat, sending it right into the side of the nearest warg's skull where it crackles with a burst of white hot sparks. The beast barely has time to register the pain before Vark vanishes into a fluffy grey cloud and appears back next to the wagon. Still shaken from his beating, he stumbles behind the wagon, giving an exasperated smile to Jex.
Jex grins back at Vark before taking 3 very quick breaths. He pops out from the side of the wagon, inhaling as he moves. He exhales and looses an arrow at the worg he hit earlier, stepping back behind the wagon without waiting to see whether his arrow finds its mark. He switches to the other side of the wagon to confuse any observant goblins, his cloak shimmering as it struggles to keep up with the speed of his movements.
Hurrig rushes forwards to close the battle-line with the goblins, grasping his holy symbol as he goes and calling upon Moradin for aid. A hammer of radiant light appears besides Thurston, smashing down on the head of a goblin atop its warg. At the other end, of the line the cleric brings his shield into place besides Bründir, driving a worg back with his own hammer as he goes.
"SHEEEEERCLEEEEEFT!" The dwarf roars in defiance.
To the north, one of the riders moves around to the side, trying to flank the dwarf, but both blows merely glance off of Hurrig's armour.
Ahead of him, the worg that Vark injured panics and throws its rider, running for the slopes. It bleeds out and slumps to the ground before it makes it more than fifty feet away.
Its rider lands handily on the ground, twirling its crooked blade in its hand, before throwing itself at the pair of dwarves, but it merely bounces off of the linked shields in front of it.
The wounded goblin fighting Thurston also backs its worg up and runs from the fight, loosing an errant arrow behind it that sails far overhead. Its worg stumbles as it goes, clearly bleeding badly.
Other goblins move in to close ranks as their comrades flee. Another worg and its rider round on Thurston, but find only mail and shield.
The goblin leader snarls, as its wounded mount yelps and also draws back from the fight, loosing an arrows at Bründir as he goes. It knocks the dwarf in the gut, but the combination of Val and Dorno's magic leave him almost untouched.
Bründir takes 5 points of piercing damage to vigour -> 20/21 Vigour.
Another of the scouts comes leaping down the mountainside, cutting in behind the battle-line to flank Hurrig. The worg bites vicously at the dwarf, but he is also bolstered by his allies' powers and Dorno's bear spirit grants him the strength to fight the beast off as it tries to pull him to the ground. The rider swings with hits blade from above and the cleric barely has time to raise his shield in time. The shock to his arm leaves the muscles pulsing with effort.
Hurrig takes 10 points of piercing damage and 8 points of slashing damage to vigour -> 16/24 Vigour.
On the crumbling edge of the clifftop up above, the riderless worg circles Dorno, before lunging at the cougar in an attempt to throw him down the jagged slopes. Even with the bear spirit's support, the worg is just too powerful and the big cat is sent tumbling down into the pass, where he lands in the snow besides the same goblin he knocked from the beast's back.
Dorno takes 12 points of bludgeoning damage to cougar form -> 2/14 Cougar.
The goblin rises, clearly hurt himself, and stabs wildly at the druid, but Dorno twists out of the way and the blade just plunges into the rock and snow where he was lying moments ago.
Cougar Dorno shakes off the effects of tumbling down the cliff and focuses his eyes on his prey once more. He strikes in and attempts to bite the goblin and finish him off before the worg atop the cliff is upon him.
