Race: Human Class: Cleric (Twilight, Selune) Background: Artisan Faction: Harpers
Background: Rescued from Zhentarim slavery as a young man and raised in a Selune coven, he was trained in the tasks needed by the priestesses. Bjorn learned the craft of temple building and copying scripture. As a young human acolyte, he continued his training on loan to the local lords building roads, repairing buildings. He learned from his fellow builders the smithing arts and picked up cartographical skills mapping new routes for the lords. He was introduced to the Harpers and is now an associate of theirs.
Backstory: When Suzellen was growing up in a small town, she had a best friend named Lennelle, an elven girl the same age as her. The two were inseparable. One day during a time when Suzellen was 8 years old, a couple of big guys attempted to kidnap her and Lennelle while they were playing by some bushes. Lennelle wouldn't stop crying, so one of the guys got fed up with it and killed her. Suzellen always had somewhat of a temper, but seeing her best friend killed in front of her unlocked something in her, and with her bare hands, killed the two guys violently. Afterwards, she went home crying, letting her Parent's know what happened, even the rage part. Her parents were feeling awful for Suzellen and were mourning Lennelle... but were also impressed at how strong she was at such a young age. Her parents decided to have her trained as a guard for the Lord’s Alliance, so her rage against wrongdoers like that can be used for good like it was that day. As she continued to grow, Suzellen's anger issues had become way worse than it had ever been since Lennelle's death, but was still a good person at heart. Once she was old enough to live on her own become the guard, she did well for a while. Until one night, while guarding the factions headquarters at night, she saw some guys (who forgot Orc's had Darkvision) dragging two kidnapped children across the area. Her anger immediately triggered, and against her training, she ran from her post and killed the guys like she had when she was little, this time with a weapon in hand! When the guard stationed with her saw this, she was reported and sent to the leader of the Lord’s Alliance. they didn't seem angry at all. In fact, they calmly asked Suzellen what happened, then proceeded to ask her about her life, about Lennelle, about her rage issues. Eventually, the they told her about Adventuring. They told her about being a part of a party of strong, and sometimes magical, individuals. They told her about them going quests for a variety of reasons. Not only would it make a great career, but with the options to battle monsters, bad people, and save others, she would have a place where her rage and strength would truly benefit the world as a whole. After wondering why her parents never knew or thought of adventuring as a path for her before, she decided to peruse it anyways, saying that if they didn't plan to fire her, that she'd quit anyway. They smiled, gave her a map to the frontier town of Red Larch, where they heard that they're looking for adventurers there, and gave her something else. He gave Suzellen a Greataxe. This axe had belonged to their father, and gave it to her as they saw a potential in her that they swear their father would've seen too. Suzellen had learnt to use this Axe back in her guard training. Learning about various weapons was a key way to guard against people using such weapons. After they sent her on her way, Suzellen prepared her things and made her way to Red Larch to look for an Adventuring Party, and then the campaign starts and the rest is history.

Name : Arkun Iridae
Race : Wood elf
Class : Druid
Background : Farmer
Faction : Emerald Enclave
Backstory :
The usual stump with the hole in it was occupied this time. "Oh great" murmured Arkun to himself as he walked along the path. "What is it now... a rowdy, drunken bunch of lumberjacks to be driven off? What could it be?" He opened the leaf wrapped package, nibbling on the enclosed crumble cake "At least there's that.." and he starts to read the message.
"Go south from the Kryptgarden Forest, leave your cozy home in the grove, we have need of you. You are to meet up with some "city folk" *to you*, don't cast judgements and keep your tongue in your mouth, until you listen and learn. Odd things abound, highway robberies, odd events, something is occurring around Red Larch. Go there, listen, learn and find out what is happening. This packet of leaves will self destruct in five seconds..."
Arkun sets down the packet on a damp spot of mud and watches as it burst into flame, astounded by the ? delayed spell that made it catch fire. As he finished chewing on his crumblecake, he started to gather up his things. "Well, no rest for the weary, I suppose. Best be on my way." The wood elf headed out going south until he saw the village and convergence of roads, carrying his trusty quarterstaff and shield with him. As the last sweet taste of the crumble cake faded from his mouth, he returned to his taciturn self, scowling at the looks he received as he walked into town, looking for anything out of place. "Things must be set aright... where shall I start.. oh yes, look for folks who seem as out of place as I am.""
I was born on Evermeet, where my family—the once-great Silverspears—clung to fading traditions and the elegant art of the Bladesinger. My grandmother Lirindel, a formidable presence and a senior Harper, trained me from an early age in our family's graceful blend of blade and magic. I rejected the notion of retreating from the world, choosing instead to return to Faerûn and uphold the legacy we were meant to defend. When troubling whispers reached Lirindel from the Savage Frontier, she and her allies in a Harper cell saw fit to send me—still untested—to Red Larch, where I now seek to prove myself.

Name: Rylan Belabranta
Race and class: Human Paladin
Image:
Background & Summary:
As the middling scion of Waterdhavian nobility, Rylan's future was set at birth. With no chance of ascending within the ranks of the family, he spent most of his early days enjoying the fruits of fortune. He dutifully fulfilled his obligation to get an education. He trained his body and enlisted as a reserve warrior, representing his house in the Lords' Alliance. In his free hours, he caroused and reveled as responsibly as his social status would allow. He expected he would marry, start a family and end his days as just another tedious entry in the family lineage.
...but then the dragon cult came. The cult's world-shaking campaign to summon the dragon god Tiamat compelled the most powerful factions of the Sword Coast to assemble an army. The ranking members of House Belabranta had the honor of serving in the vanguard while Rylan was left in Waterdeep to support the griffon calvary in the event of a siege.
With the Gods' mercy, the army succeeded in their quest to destroy the Cult of the Dragon. Unfortunately, the higher ranks of House Belabranta were decimated in the fight. As the dust settled and the rebuilding effort began, Rylan suddenly found himself saddled with responsibilities he never expected to have. He coped with this change by turning to drink, reveling and carousing a bit more than his position would responsibly allow. If it weren't for the intervention of The Godess, he may have falling irreparably down a path of self-destruction.
He began to see her at his revels, pouring his drinks, inviting him to dance. He thought she was just another common girl... But the way she looked at him, past his rank or his charm to the child he was inside his own mind. He hoped to one day romance her. Then, one day, when he was feeling particularly lost, she offered to bring him to her cottage beyond the city. She showed him the beauty of the world beyond the City of Splendor. She invited him to cast off his responsibilities, step out into the road and drink in that beauty for himself as her champion.
That's when revealed herself as an aspect of the Goddess Lliira. She eluded to a great evil on the horizon. She needed a man of his strength, charm and tender, guileless heart to help oppose it. Rylan was shaken to the core, believing he must be delusional from drink. He ran from her and returned home... It was the last he ever saw of the mysterious woman... but she left him with a gift... the ability to heal with his hands... He began to attend to his faction duties more scrupulously, eager to take the Goddess's advice and find purpose for himself at the same time.... Then, finally it happened. A request to head north to the frontier town of Red Larch. He's volunteered for the assignment, though he knows not what it is.
His body has trained for battle, his soul is incredibly devoted to Lliira... yet he possesses the common sense of a sheltered Waterdavian noble. Adventure awaits. Along with it, a sense of purpose... That is, if he doesn't get himself killed first.

Hey BKAce. I think the Lord’s Alliance would be a faction that suits your story. They are the loose coalition of the various Sword Coast’s city-states. They serve their City Leader predominantly but work together to help with broader regional problems and interests. As a kid it’s the sort of structure that a guard could be under then pulled up and sent out as an adventurer for I think.

Yeah - this sounds like the game for me...I also am a long-time player and DM who is willing to "play to the end"! I propose the following character!
Name: Livvi Class: Bard (probably choosing College of Glamour - although I used College of Whispers in 2014 rules) Species: Human Background: Charlatan Faction: Harpers Backstory: Livvi is a bad girl. The kind of girl that the boys fall all over themselves for. The kind of girl who gets what she wants. Always. The kind of girl who can cut you with a casual comment, enthrall you with a gentle touch, or drive you to the point of madness with whisper in your ear and a light caress on your neck. The kind of girl who looks like an angel but is anything but...the kind of girl the simple folk of Red Larch have no chance against. Growing up, Livvi always knew that she was different. Special. She was offered anything she wanted and led a comfortable life. And Livvi liked that. She learned how to smile at the right time, to act shy or be bold, and always - always - win. This lasted well until her early teens, when the other girls started hating her for her beauty and popularity, and the older boys started treating her differently. But not in a good way. It was also a time when she discovered the magic in names and words, how with a musical instrument or her songs alone she could alter the world around her to suit her needs. The first time was when the other girls decided it might be time to "knock the crown of the princess." Livvi wasn't happy - not at all - and she hurled a string of nasty insults at them. The effect, combined with her developing magical abilities, were devastating. And thus, she started to study both arcane and mundane arts of influencing others. That is when the Harpers took notice of her talents - her ability to get in and out of dangerous situations, but more importantly her ability to get people to trust her and tell her things. Secrets and fears and hopes and dreams...all things the Harpers value.

Backstory Summary:
Though born on the Elemental plane of Earth a slave to a Dao, Rumble came to yearn for freedom and a better life from his father, one of many unfortunate souls stolen away from the prime material. Yet no lasting opportunity to obtain either and escape the fungi farms would not come until late in his teenage years, when a band of adventures showed up seeking some treasure said to be in his mistress possession. Whereas his father would go on to seek a quiet life on one of the farms just outside of Waterdeep, Rumble yet refused, having been particularly taken in by the noble spirit of a paladin of Tyr that was a member of the adventuring band. While it took some convincing, for the next few years Rumble trained under the dragonborn Heskan, and over time learned to turn deep seated guilt and rage that yet roiled inside Rumble towards a more positive direction as he traveled with the group. But eventually the time came for Rumble to undertake a pilgrimage of his own, so Heskan would direct him to seek out the Knight of Samular for both further training and learn of the other aspects of the maimed god.

Background: A protege of the Lord of Neverwinter, Sir Damon Fullbrook has spent most of his life dealing with the diplomacy and intrigue of the court and it's people. However, a poorly handled tryst has resulted in his banishment of the city. With almost all his assets seized, the only thing he has left is a vague mission from his Lord to investigate the town of Red Larch. He quests, not out of any sense of loyalty, but simply without anything else to do. One day he hopes to return to Neverwinter (or some other city) and regain some semblance of nobility.
The table has been filled. Thank you so much to everybody who applied, it never fails to blow my mind how many great PbP players there are active in these forums. For those who were not selected, I hope you find games for these characters soon. I wish I had space for another ten of them.

Name: Sir Damon Fullbrook
Race: Human
Class: Bard
Faction: Lord's Alliance
