âCome here come look come see my collection.â A tall scarecrow of a human waves at Aldun. In a community of dwarves this wizards wares are gathering very little attention. He seems desperate to display his admittedly interesting thingsâŠ
Dain notices the human giving special attention to Aldun and stops to give the man a special look over to assess potential threats and risks. The items do look interesting though and Dain takes a step closer to get a better view.
Dain instinctually puts his hand out to take the item but realizes too late that this might not be a good idea (dex save 10). When the stone touches him though the confidence bubbles up and the man seems to pose no threat that HE couldnât handle.
âOh thatâs funny. You are certainly no dwarf at all⊠but with this (he holds up a tankard) you could drink like one.â It is a very ornately decorated tankard. âAs for cheap well. Iâve studied and worked and letâs be real magic ainât cheap, but for a barrel of Fjörnâs fording beer, the good stuff. You can have this fine piece.
You can use a skill check if youâd like but this seems to be a legit item.
A couple streets down a food vendor is yelling at some young dwarves about not having beer this year, as your attention is drawn to the scene you hear many random grumblings âFjörnâs has never not shown upâŠâ âthis âbeerâ tastes like bad mushroomsâŠâ âA real dwarf drinks FjörnâsâŠâ
It seems like everyone is noticing the unusual absence of a neighboring communities presence.
On the other hand there are vendors hawking other food and beverages. The drummers performance is reaching a grand finish. And dwarven families are seen lined up at rides and merchant boothes everywhere you look.
You know that after the drummers performance there will be a few speeches and an autumn blessing from Sir Pleuket the Stone-Lord of Kazduhr-Dum, a very special yearly event.
Aldun says:" hmm no thanks. I like to keep a clear head and drinking isn't one of my interests. Do I look like I do? (Aldun frowns a little). Thanks but no thanks. I'm of to hear the stone lord. Have a good day".
Aldun walks away towards where the speech will be given and finds himself a nice and high spot, blessed with just a little less feet than the dwarfs in length.
From this high spot aldun takes his spell book, caresses it a few times, opens its and wanders through it searching for nothing in particular, just to see if everything is still there, if all spells are still readable and in the same alphabetical order he left them in earlier. Then, satisfied by the result he goes on studying the people on the market. Studying the market itself, sketching it.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to
As Aldun and Dain work there way through the throng of folks in the central plaza they experience the drummers big finish. A small troupe of rock gnomes are lighting off âfireworksâ they flick a flint and steel device to light the wicks and as they do a loud sizzling whistle a trail of sparks and colors ending with huge booms and fiery explosions. Children at first whimper in fear but after a few the crowd is roaring with approval!
Sir Pleuket takes his place up on the platform. âLetâs have a round of applause for our very own Rockbeat drummers and the Dragonheart gnome demolition team for their incredible performances!!â The crowd claps cheers whistles and shouts with approval. âNow as in years past I have taken special measures to ensure that as we prepare our city for fall and winter we as a dwarven brotherhood will face every challenge with successâŠâ
The speech goes long as much rich history is recounted, as the speech comes to an end however you feel a swelling pride to be part of Kazduhr-Dum.
-Your characters receive heroic inspiration as a blessing from Sir Pleuketâs speech.
As Aldun passes the time sketching and observing he notices a young dwarf talking with an elder. Waving an arm bone and finally embracing the elder shaking as if upset. This strikes you as a very peculiar interaction.
Aldun got real enthousiastic about the speech of the stone lord up to the point that he was cheering and yelling "OVERLORD" repeatedly.
After a while when he calmed a bit he spots something strange in the crowd. Since it's to far off and Aldun doesn't know what to make of it he summons his cat (find familiar) and sends the animal towards the two dwarves. Just so close as to be able to pick up on what they are saying. He orders the cat to get comfortable and act asleep while listening to what they are saying. Via his telepathic bond Aldun tries to listen on what is said.
Aldunâs cat gets close and as Aldun extends his hearing to his familiar he hears, âUndead took everyone⊠âsobâ my kin fought but were killed. âsob sobâ itâs gonna happen here.â Elder, âNo son not here too much power in the city, but we need more information quick.â
thereâs more conversation but itâs missed by crowd noise and quiet communication.
Dain sits there phasing in and out of the speech while observing the stone the merchant had just given him which was strange in its own. Maybe it was a sample of some sort, with the intent on driving him back to buy more? He did feel pretty good while holding it⊠like nothing he put his mind too was out of his grasp. Showing it to Aldun, and giving his suspicion that itâs a luck stone.
