Most certainly my readied action is cast. If the creature doesn't meet my save (int dc 13) then it gets 3pnt of psychic dmg and a d4 penalty at its next saving throw before the end of my next turn

Being so close to the foul creature Aldun almost vomits from the stench, quickly casts another mind sliver (6 psychic dmg if it doesn't make the int dc 13 save) and runs off trying to hide behind Dain as well as possible.
While running he yells to Dain "I remember them normally hunting in groups, keep your eyes open for more. I'm to handsome to die."

Map (just changed Aldun and Dain’s positions as the ghoul simply attempts to follow and get into melee.)
The ghoul chases after the duo, it shrugs off the first mind sliver, takes an arrow squelching deep into a thigh. The second attempted mind sliver visibly takes effect as the ghoul grabs its head its overly long tongue lashing in agitation, yet it uses dash to close the distance with Dain.
With the ghoul so close, Dain draws his greataxe to confront the monster head on. Swinging with his might, Dain brings it across to sever its head from its body
Andre goes in as only a cat familiar can. Ducking into narrow spaces watching from shadows and acrobatically crossing narrow ledges…
With Andre’s reconnaissance you discover at least a dozen more undead including a few shadows and a specter. As it is daylight Andre fortunately has no trouble evading and avoiding confrontation…
most structures have been burned, oddly there are signs of brutal killings but no corpses.
The brewery is intact but due to the presence of the specter Andre has not attempted to infiltrate.
Using your incredible gathered information you could make your way to the Brewery bypassing many of the undead.
“Aldun, I know it’s dangerous, but I think we should investigate the brewery further. We need to know the extent of the corruption here. Plus, maybe we can find a few cases for personal use.”
"but Dain, Andre saw at least a dozen undead including specters and shadows. We know nothing about those or how to combat them. We have done good work as it is AND LIVED. If we reported this than we could get some reinforcements and a good night sleep. I'm not a machine. You seem to be able to go on and on but magic is a tiring business, you know. And then I could maybe find some info on the specters and shadows and we'd be better able to combat them. Think about getting paralyzed if I hadn't read about that ghouls! You'd have been a plant.
If we go back we could get some info, you sharpen your axe a little more, get reinforcements and we'd still be the heroes but alive. Most certainly there would be some kegs of beer for us as reward." Aldun looks at Dain hoping his words land.

A little ways off in the distance, not far from your current position 3 skeletons are carrying the body of a dead dwarven youth from your recon you feel that they are heading towards the brewery…
Aldun pokes Dain, pointing at the skeletons; "how about we take care of those and bring that dwarf back with us. Gives us time and more chance we get some reinforcements".
At the same time Aldun takes a position in which he's less noticeable by the skeletons and if possible from where he can attack.
As Aldun explains to Dane writing notes in his book the ghoul charges in your direction.
Wise as a serpent and sly as a fox.
The Lacedon Ghoul does indeed come at you- move and dash, with a foot an a half long tongue out slathering as it rushes!
Dain I auto rolled your initiative as a 7 (if you wanna roll instead you may.)
Aldun your readied action (reaction) may happen it is within reach with hostile intent.
otherwise it is Dain’s turn.

(I’m fine with the init auto roll)
Taking Aldun’s advice Dain keeps his distance, firing his Longbow at the creature and backpedaling 30ft.
(20 to hit for 8 damage — rolled dmg dice twice and took higher for savage attacker)

(19 to hit, 16 dmg)
I run 30 feet back and cast another mind sliver again (int dc 13. 4 psychic dmg).
Afraid of Dain getting paralyzed I yell: "don't let him paralyze you dain. Chop it's head off....or something!"
(If you wonder why I'm doing only small bit of dmg, it's because I choose another dmg cantrip that is a range of touch 😔)

Dain quickly free action drops bow interaction draws axe action chops ghoul head to chest.
The undead drops to the ground as Aldun turns to finish it off.
300xp total 150 each. Again very nice! I think that’s a level up!

The smell of smoke is strong. How would you like to enter town? Direct, stealth, stake out, perimeter…

Dain takes a step forward towards the slain dwarf youth, ready to avenge his death, but pauses and step a back again.
”very well Aldun, you may be correct. These undead outnumber us and each are dangerous in their own unique ways.”
