Thomas has regained the confidence that slipped when he thought he led the group to a dead end.
"Straight ahead is the way we need to go."
He turns back to the rest of the party,
"But that still leaves the question of what happened to Carrigan..."

"Then follow me. I shall explain to anyone necessay why we have unrestrained detainees with us."
With a last look at the captain for any sign of disagreement, Thomas begins heading down the straight tunnel leading to his garrison.

The tunnel is stringed with ice sickles and everyone begins to see their breath the further they move ahead. After what seems like hours they come to a iron door with several gears on the outside. Thomas is famailar with the door having seen several in the garrsin above. It's many years are locking mechanisms but the mechanisms are unique per each door.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
As the group arrives at the door, the weary, and now visible, gnome states, "Traveling in these tunnels hasn't proven to be the most efficient. I think next time I'd rather take my chances above with foes that I can see." He steps up towards the door to offer a hand for Thomas, pulling out his thieves tools.
(Does the cold that is affecting us down here seem to be magical in any way.)
OOC: No I would say it's always freezing above in the waste but with some sunlight it's bearable. Remember the actual tents for the detainee were magically heated to 70 degrees year round because it's ALWAYS winter in the White Waste.

"I think these are different, it looks like a puzzle, Thomas is that right?" The captain suddenly seems to falter then braces himself against the wall, his normally healthily tanned skin looks very pale and his bearing is less straight and purposeful than usual. "Whatever we need to do, do it quickly, the cold down here is going to take us before our enemies get a chance otherwise."

Seeing Hrain falter, Haldur moves closer to the Captain's side. He does not make an outright move to assist the Paladin for fear of making him appear less capable and stalwart in the eyes of those he leads, but his hovering presence is there none the less. The young warrior leans slightly closer toward Hrain and whispers very quietly,
"She is here, Captain. Though this cold cuts to the core of us, the Lady Firehair is with you, warming you with every breath you take in her name. Hold fast to her image and let it thaw the chill that clutches at you. She walks with you, and so do I. I am here if you have need of me, Captain."
His message conveyed, the mercenary will look back toward the wall and take in it's complex nature. Though he certainly came from hearty stock, Haldur was not particularly educated or schooled in either mechanical construction nor religious iconography. He frowned at the elaborate nature of the barrier before the group, and waited for those among them more familiar with things of this nature to weigh in with their opinions.
"I knew there was something in you worth trusting in Haldur, you are a good man, a definite cut above many of the mercenaries we have had here, ha, for that matter, a cut above many of the serving Sunites!" Standing straighter the captain claps his comrade on the shoulder. "Your words do me good, I thank you."

Cara has been with the party still very shaken by the horror of the reanimated Sister's and Flesh Cube!
