Rummaging through the pockets of her cape, Lyra retrieves a round ball of glass that is filled with a green liquid. "Given that Carrigan wasn't lying about this too, this potion should melt down these chains like its nothing. If one of you manages to shatter the potion on top of one chain and escape, I'll take care of the other one."
OOC: Essentially the portcullis is supported by one large chain that took Haldur amd Pat to whined up in the wheel. Tje party could destroy it and the portcullis would fall on the exit.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Father Pat goes up to Haldur and says "well done soldier!" As he does so he lays on his hands (spending 5 points from his healing pool) to reduce the impact of the poison coursing through Haldur's veins. He then steps outside the gatehouse and starts motioning people through the now open gate.

OOC: The dragon's fire burns organic material only.
OOC: Is there organic material in the gatehouse? Is the cranking mechanism wooden?

With his first glimpse of freedom in many decades, Folzi saunters out the open portcullis. "Later ********!"With a flip of his wrist a mage hand appears near the crank for the portcullis, giving the middle finger to the incoming casters. Once the gnome is out the gate the hand begins wrapping its fingers nervous atop the crank. Folzi takes up a position just outside the gate to surprise any casters that should make it through.
"You can plug up that gate with something if we can't get that portcullis down, right Nicknack?"
Hrain sees the gnome prepare his spell "Move through the gate now, time is up, she will find her way back to us, the others have made their choices." Steering Vihar through with his knees he holds his gaze for as long as possible at the sleet storm still holding out hope that the elven sorceress would get to them. On the other side of the gate he beckons anyone remaining to hurry. "Folzi, do not risk the rest of the group, drop that portculis as soon as you can do so safely."

OOC: Just to some it up then, we are basically going with a hold action, right? Everyone else will move out, Lyra catapults the dragonfire into the crank and then thundersteps out as a bonus action.
OOC: I think most everyone is outside the gate, or will be by the time your turn comes, so I don't think you will need to hold an action. Also, you can't use a bonus action as part of a held action... I believe? DM?

OOC: How much force required to release the portcullis?
OOC: I'm guessing we need to cut the chains/cables holding it up.
