PBP Game of Madness, Mayhem, and Myth. Welcome to The Arena, where genre is a lie, reality is optional, and survival is never guaranteed. This is a play-by-post battle encounter—sometimes a one-shot, sometimes a recurring nightmare. Each session is a handcrafted crucible of chaos, where I unleash whatever twisted creation I dream up like:
- A fantasy coliseum drenched in blood and sand
- A sci-fi derelict crawling with alien horrors
- A battle royale with collapsing terrain and shifting alliances
- Or maybe… you’re face-to-face with The Mask, Pennywise, or some other pop culture nightmare dragged into combat against your will
You won’t know what’s coming. You won’t be prepared. But you will fight.
Approved Source Material, Players may use content from: — **Player’s Handbook (PHB)** — 2014 & 2024 editions — **Dungeon Master’s Guide (DMG)** — 2014 & 2024 editions — **Xanathar’s Guide to Everything (XGE)** — **Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything (TCE)** — **Eberron: Rising from the Last War (ERftLW)** — **Spelljammer: Adventures in Space (SAiS)**
Partnered content (e.g. Critical Role, Magic: The Gathering, Plane Shift) is allowed **by DM approval**. Homebrew (custom races, subclasses, feats, items) must be submitted for review and approval before use.
Style:Genre-fluid, cinematic, brutal, and unpredictable
Format: Discord-based PBP and Roll 20 for Maps.
Characters:One-shots with potential for recurring PCs and PVP
Design Philosophy: I build the madness. You survive it—or die trying.
Tone: Fast-paced, dramatic, and gleefully bloody. !!Content warning!! for possible blood, gore, fear and body horror. 18+ only.
Whether you’re a tactician, a roleplay junkie, or just want to see if your character can survive a showdown with a xenomorph riding a beholder… this is your stage. Your fate is mine to craft. Your victory is yours to earn. Your death? That’s just good storytelling.
If interested let's say we start at a level 14 characters for this one and it'll be a battle royale maybe solos maybe not we will see. fill out their sheet on beyond all the traits etc. and post the link here. I'll start up as soon as we have a few players, but I will always have room for some more.

So long as RP-heavy playstyle is one of the options, this might just be the game I've been looking for to get my feet wet in Discord-based PbP (as opposed to the entire game playing out on the forums here). I would want to make sure that you're comfortable with a complete newbie to that style of play, and I do have a couple of questions regarding expected posting frequency and regarding the ... how should I phrase this ... the uniformity or lack thereof of the campaign world? In other words, it seems that you are designing this so that we use the same characters over the various one-shots; but do they retain memories of what has happened to them in previous episodes, and is there a larger meta-storyline tying the different episodes together; or is this more like a disconnected series of one-shots where there aren't necessarily those connecting elements as a deliberate choice but it's fun for what it is?
All that said, this sounds like mad enough fun that if you're comfortable teaching Discord PbP as we go along I definitely want to put in my placeholder for this one. I'll drop in a standard 4d6 reroll 1's once array; please let me know if you were thinking of doing abilities some other way.
If a game occurs of a level that u have a character who has survived a previous game then you could replay it and maybe advance or get something idk lol. In that case they would retain memories and we could do something there if a player wanted and it happens. I'm going to want to maintain a nice pace 12-24hrs max per turn and skipping missing people. I'll have a tips for posting in the Discord and rp on what you have to say and do is fine as long as ur following the rules to your turns as it will generally always be in initiative. I'm newer to this style of dnd and have not dmd a Discord game, so we shall figure it all out together.
As for ability rolls we shall handle those on Discord using avare. It'll be a single choice rolls or point buy or array and if rolls u get two sets picking one of the two.
Just looked up Avrae; haven't used before but I have enough basic knowledge of online enviro that should be able to handle. Must admit I am a creaky old fossil though; first D&D I played was the red Basic boxed set before even the AD&D that turned into 1st edition. I've always loved RP heavy and storytelling play though, and this sounds like it actually could have interesting elements of that if NOT all the memories survived LOL.
As for general character preferences, I like the weird and wonderful; all subclasses that have anything to do with the Feywild; wild magic sorcerers; bards; arcane tricksters, scouts and nontraditional rogue types; and where allowed bloodhunters though I've not had too much XP playing those. In previous incarnations of D(D I really liked thief-acrobats also and was sad when that went by the wayside then very happy when it turned into an ability ANYONE but especially bards could have. Rangers of course. As for the classes I've never played but have wondered about, barbarian of one of the more mystical paths has appealed, as has some sort of conflicted paladin, also artificer which is what I am wondering about for this one but with a twist ... maybe a kalashtar, a kender, or some other race you don't usually think of re. artificers? UNLESS you will allow me to reskin and uplevel my dear and beloved Shrawho started a runthrough of the revamped Tomb of Horrors set in Chult before IRL issues claimed our DM?
(OOC: Given Shra's history I can see her specializing as either a Battle Smith or an Armorer. Here's an example 14th lvl. buildout for the Battle Smith if I happen by some miracle of Beshaba and Tymora to roll the exact same ability scores on Avr. as I did here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/151687848_)

I think the full suite with armorer has a few fun applications from master thief to superhero lol.

Ur sheet is set to private or something I can't view it. It's on the 1st page in edit character. At the bottom.
