Sooo tempting. I've never played CoS and only have vague memories of it from the 1990s. I just don't think that I have room for another long-term game until one of my other ones concludes.
Never played COS before, so I'll definitely give this a shot! Point buy doesn't bother me much, I'm wrapping up a campaign where we used point buy and I spent two years playing as a Barbarian who needed str, dex, and con. Then I proceeded to not take any ASI's lol.
Now, here we go!
Name: Lenora Madeline Flamequill (goes by Nora), Priest of the Sun Lord
Species: Human (Alert)
Class/Subclass: Cleric, Order of the Thaumaturge,
Background: Sage
Character Details: Lenora was born to a family of mages and librarians, but one night discovered an angel trapped within a book, leading her to faith and taking up the mission of the God the angel served to bring light to the dark places. She is a cheerful individual, knowledgable, passionate, and perceptive, but her lack of toughness and physical powers means she often feels as if she is more of a hindrance than a help. Mechanically, she serves as role between wizard and cleric, blasting, healing, and support (both buffs and debuffs) being her main focuses, and she generally stays in the mid to back line, using her intellect and awareness to coordinate her allies on the battlefield.
Excited to see who gets in!

OK. Here we go. If you decide to pick Marten, I'll just have to figure out how to make shorter posts in all of my games. :-)
Name: Marten Species: Human Class/Subclass: Rogue / Scout Background: Guide (or maybe Wayfarer) Character Details: Marten, a slight and shy fellow, is closer to 40 than 30. He doesn't have much book learnin' (as he calls it), but he has made a life of picking up practical skills, honing them to perfection, and putting them to practical use. Marten maintains his tools well, but his tanned skin, hair, beard, and clothing reflect a life spent in the wilderness. While he's reasonably comfortable in a small group of close companions, Marten tends to be awkward and quiet around strangers, especially women, leaving the talking to others.
Marten has learned to enjoy working with this small group of adventuring companions, but he prefers it when they take practical, down-to-earth jobs: escorting merchants, defending villages from goblins, and that sort of thing. He's much less comfortable with anything arcane or unnatural, such as demon cults, the Far Realm, or the undead.
(BTW, I've played this character before about half-way through Lost Mines of Phandelver a couple of years ago. Here's a sample of Marten in a role play situation. In combat, he prefers to fight at range, and he'll probably take Sharpshooter at level 4.)
