Shuushar says "It's been years since i set foot here, I've been wandering for some time. But when I was here last it was always tradition for folks coming and going from town to pay an offering to the Sea Mother, the priestess there might be able to tell us a bit about the fungus, or at least give us some information on why we were attacked." and he points across the way to a strange looking statue outside of a small squat building, a few kuo-toans appear to be in prayer in front of the statue.
As good a starting point as any. Recwyin will begin walking over to honor local customs and pay his respects before attempting to question the priestess about the fungus.
Garruk will move behind Recwyin, but when he comes to the shrine, he reflects on the moon and the divinity of nature instead of the god of the kuo-toans.
**This wouldnt last long enough to make it a short rest, correct?**
Speaking softly to Recwyin, Lucky says, "Recwyin, my friend, it appears that a new diety has replaced the Sea Mother here. Take caution in letting your devotion be known to those who worship the Deep Father as it may be an affront to their chosen faith."
Lucky follows Recwyin in the direction of the priestess as well.
Devotion isn't my goal just a fool to gain us access. We need answers if we are to learn what is going on. But you're right caution and tact are called for.
Garruk - if you guys want to chill here for an hour it can
Recwyin - Shuushar joins you in approaching the shrine, a nine-foot-tall statue stands here. Its body is roughly carved from some kind of wood in the shape of a humanoid female, its head and forearms formed from the severed head and claws of a giant albino crayfish. These parts are lashed on with strands of gut, and emit an overpowering stench of rotting shellfish. Shells, brightly colored stones, mushrooms, and rotting fish are piled at the statue’s feet and strung in garlands around its neck.
As you stand there for a moment, you see a roped female Kuotoan emerge from the hut and begin speaking in turn to the other gatherers around the shrine.
**I forgot i also wanted to give Bigsby Inspiration for his creative use of the ring of the ram and for obliterating the kuotoans with his god powers.**
Shuushar approaches the woman and speaks to her for a moment before returning with her. "Friends, this is Ploopploopeen, high priest of the Sea Mother. I told her about the fungus that we've encountered and she says she has never heard of such things. I also explained that we were attacked just outside of town, and she believes it may have been followers of the Deep Father, a small cult that has recently sprung up in town. Apparently if we had been captured, it is likely we would have been used as a sacrifice."
"So should we go back and kill the guy at the docks?.... " Rhogar will look at him with a very serious look upon his face "It sounds like this cult is a problem, much like this fungus..."
Lucky asks Shuushar, "Friend, please translate for me."Then looking at the priestess, Ploopploopeen, "High Priestess, please, tell us more about these 'Followers of the Deep Father'. How many are there and what trouble have they caused this village? We seek aid and safe passage back to the surface. Perhaps we may aid each other."
Shuushar translates your questions to the priestess , talking to her for a few moments, then turns back to you all. "She's not sure how many followers the Deep Father has, she has lost a few followers to them already. Apparently it was founded by her own daughter Bloppblippodd who had a vision of the Deep Father, proclaiming it to be the new savior of our people. The townspeople have been divided since, choosing sides and creating minor squabbles. As for helping you get home, she has never been up above the Underdark, and I don't believe you'll find anyone here who has. But she is willing to offer you some supplies to aid on on our travels, if your willing to help her with the cult."
"I fear this may involve consequences for your daughter, priestess. How would you wish her fate be decided?"Lucky asks of the high priestess, via Shuushar.
Bigsby Gruffs and rolls his eyes “we just got some provisions from those traders. What can she offer to us? Our objective is to find a way out of this wretched place if you don’t remember. We don’t need to make everyone’s problems ours. It’s best we just move along and try to get topside.”
“Her faith?” Garruk snorts. “I could care less about her faith, if they just attempted to sacrifice us. Feeble attempt though it may have been, we shouldn’t let a cult like that continue.”
I want to get out too, but I don't know the way and I think she knows more than we're being told. We ask her daughter to leave, if she doesn't we end it quickly. We come back take whatever they'll give us get pointed in the right direction and resume our exit.
Shushar doesn't translate everything you say to the priestess, but after listening to your concerns he has a short conversation with her. Afterwards he turns back to you all, "She would prefer if no blood was shed, especially from her daughter. What she would like is for you to destroy their shrine, and disrupt them during a ritual. She is hoping that some or all of them will come back to the Sea Mother after seeing how ineffective their god is. If you could bring her daughter back here she would appreciate it, but understands if she won't come with you."

I am curious. How big is the cult? Where are they based out of? Are they dangerous to the village? If so is there a reward for ending the threat?
pausing he stops and turns to Shuushar and asks will you please ask her my questions.

"Removing a violent cult sounds like a worthwhile task to me, Sign me up" Rhogar will step forward with Sut on his shoulder.
"I fear this may involve consequences for your daughter, priestess. How would you wish her fate be decided?" Lucky asks of the high priestess, via Shuushar.
I'm in. If we can stop the leader will the cult fall? Hopefully she can agree to practice her faith elsewhere.
