"Oh, just making some new friends," I say as my sword misses and I gear up to kick. "What took you guys so long? You didn't stop to pick flowers again, did you?"
Focused on Rixton and unaware of new enemies to its rear, bugbear #4 is struck in rapid succession by Andor's spell and Ladrian's deadly crossbow shot. Rixton turns around to see the bugbear clutch at its chest in a vain effort to remove the bolt that ends its life.
The half-orc who opened the gate scurries back to the inn but keeps an eye on the action from a partially-opened door. The heads of a few other citizens can be seen peering carefully through nearby windows. The newly-arriving guards (4, 5, and 6) continue their eastward dash along the main thoroughfare of the village.
(Actions for Carrow and Vigan are next; the one remaining bugbear (#3) and Kaltivar will follow)
Following the spell and crossbow bolt, Vigan rushes into the keep and launches a javelin at the remaining bugbear (#3). His second javelin is launched at the giant.
Immediately after watching bugbear 4 collapse to the ground, Rixton turns to see Vigan's javelin protruding from the side of the last bugbear (#3). The wound is fatal, and the creature leans against the tree momentarily before slowly falling in a heap atop its shield.
Vigan's second javelin sails nearly 80' before catching Kaltivar soundly in the arm. The giant shakes off the wound and prepares to face this new group of combatants.
In response to Carrow's question, the half-orc merely shakes her head. Carrow then sends two arrows at Kaltivar, both of which strike their target.
Kaltivar turns and evaluates the guards approaching from behind; he then studies the five adventurers who are frustrating his efforts to leave Xantharl's Keep. He utters a few words in the Giant tongue--"So be it"--which Vigan understands. Kaltivar then speaks in Common, his voice booming through the open air. "The dwarf is yours," he says, pointing with his greataxe toward the sack on the ground. After hanging his axe on his belt, Kaltivar strides toward the village gate. His countenance is awash with rage.
(All players may take their actions for the next round)
The sorcerer backs away from the approaching giant whilst simultaneously readying his crossbow and pointing it squarely at the behemoth. "Give him a way out gentlemen, nice and easy."
Movement to O24 readying an action to shoot crossbow at Kalvitar if anyone else, Kalvitar or party member make an attack.

Rixton:
I steel myself for what comes next. Studying Kaltivar for an opening in his armor or a weakness due to his injuries, I pull up my sword and dart behind him.
Bonus action - Insightful fighting (contested by deception): 6
The goliath plants the butt of his glaive into the ground and stands defiantly before the frost giant looming over him.
"You think you will walk out of here without a fight because you didn't kidnap someone? You led an army to the gates of a peaceful settlement. An army lying in ruins. You wanted a battle... and you've got one!"
(Rixton's Insightful Fighting is an automatic success)
Foolish enough to believe he could leave the village without further incident, Kaltivar walks through the midst of the five adventurers, all of whom turn their weapons on him. Rixton slashes the rear of the giant's leg, and the crossbow bolts from Andor and Ladrian pierce his armor. Kaltivar, moving to his right and causing Carrow's arrows to miss narrowly, lifts his greataxe and tries to bring it down upon RIxton's head, growling, "Here's an answer for you, runt!"
Greataxe attack:28 | Slashing damage:27
Kaltivar then takes two huge steps, allowing him to cover the ground between himself and Vigan, at whom he swings with his second attack. "Yes, the battle has come!" he roars.

Rixton:
I barely need to sidestep the raging giant's axe before I lunge at him with my short sword, followed by surgical punch to the inside of his left thigh.

Vigan
The giant's greataxe scores a direct hit on the goliath, his natural durability allowing him to take the impact of a blow that would have cleaved a lesser being in two.
Stone's Endurance: 5 - damage reduced to 17, my HP is 41/65 for anyone with healing.
Crying out in pain, Vigan spies the five guards behind the frost giant. "Attack you fools, don't just stand there!"

The three approaching guards have their confidence buoyed at the sight of Kaltivar's distress. Each of them draws within range of the giant and fires his crossbow...

Andor
Seeing the giant start to reel from the many small attacks Andor looks for more power from within himself, manipulating the arcane energies inside himself. As the forces realign he fires his crossbow again hoping to distract Kalvitar from ending Vigan.
Attack 25 for 8
Bonus action convert level 2 spell slot into 2 sp (now have 5 sp)
Luck point 23 to reroll attack
These luck points are not living up to their name so far :(
Honestly think it changed from a 4 the first time.
Watching that massive blade hitting Vigan Ladrian cowers slightly...
He decides to try something different.... He lowers his crossbow as well as his head and starts gesturing with his free hand and mumbling conjuring the strange and mysterious arcane arcs. The air is still for a moment in complete silence and finally Ladrian looks up, faces the giant eye to eye and speaks:
"Hey, big guy! You should appreciate my arrows. They're the only thing that wants to be around you!"
The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or fall prone, becoming incapacitated and unable to stand up for the duration. A creature with an Intelligence score of 4 or less isn’t affected.
Carrow sinks one arrow deep into the chest of the frost giant, who begins to wobble slightly as he takes a step forward. Andor's bolt then rips through Kaltivar a moment later, and the giant slumps to his knees, leaning on his greataxe. His head droops, and he is unable to lift his eyes to meet Ladrian's mockery. Kaltivar takes one final breath before slumping forward, face down in the road.
The half-orc immediately rushes from the inn. "Ain't that a sight? A day both terrible and glorious this is! Terrible and glorious."
She then walks over to the captured dwarf. "Larg, what's this all about? We'll have you free in a moment."
The dwarf responds gruffly, "I should hope so. I've no idea what caused all this trouble."
The three guards rush forward and surround Kaltivar, seemingly wanting to make certain the giant is truly dead. One of them turns his attention to the five adventurers and, with a look on his face that is both relieved and questioning, he says, "The Keep offers you a welcome and its gratitude, strangers."
