Andor sends a barrage of glowing magical darts that converge on the stone giant. Each missile strikes its target, and immediately the giant is shaken free from his charmed state. Ladrian fires a bolt from his crossbow, and Carrow releases a pair of arrows, but all three attacks glance harmlessly off the giant's stone-like skin.
Rixton prepares to position himself for his next attack as soon as Vigan creates the necessary diversion.
(Round 4 actions for Vigan and Rixton are next; Harshnag will follow if necessary)
Seeing the attacks fail on the giant's 'awakening', the goliath rushes in to shield his companions from it's retaliation, lunging at it with his glaive raised. "Face me giant, so I can cut you down like your brethren!"
Attack 1: 18
Damage 1: 10
Goading Attack Damage 1: 17 DC 15 Wisdom
Goading Attack: When you hit with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to add the total to the damage roll and the target must make a WIS saving throw (DC 15). On failure, the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls against targets other than you until the end of your next turn.
Goading Attack Damage above is my total damage for that attack, not extra damage.

Rixton:
I rush in alongside Vigan, taking a position slightly behind the giant. I stab at him gripping with two hands on my spear (versatile; +1), following up with a kick, then reaching deep for ki to power a second kick.
Vigan lunges with his glaive and successfully slashes the giant three times. Rixton darts in immediately after and catches the giant with his spear and martial arts strike. The stone giant is sorely wounded and doing his best to assess matters after finally becoming clear-headed.
On the other side of the ruins, Harshnag reaches down, picks up a large chunk of stone, and hurls it at the stone giant in an effort to bring an end to the fight...
Ranged attack:20| Bludgeoning damage:41
...which is precisely what he does as the piece of stone shatters the giant's skull.
Each of the stone giants carries a sack containing pieces of gold and a few gemstones. In total, there are 2500 pieces of gold and 10 gemstones (market value 100 gp each). Other than these items, the stone giants have only their heavy fur trappings and greatclubs.
"Now that was my kind of fight, none of that you hit me, I hit you, you hit me nonsense, I could get used to this, even Rixton is fine. Great work everyone, you too big guy, you could prove useful I reckon." With the successful debut of his new spell Andor seems almost drunk on the victory.

Harshnag surveys the fallen stone giants, takes a look at the dent in his plate mail, and says good-naturedly, "Your magic didn't leave much for me to do. Not much at all."
He then kneels and scrubs his axe blade with some snow before walking over to one of the slain giants. "Beneath the ice and snow you shall be buried, foolish brother," he remarks aloud.
For the remainder of the day, the wind continues its relentless assault against the mountains as the party trudges onward and upward to the Eye of the All-Father. The group set up camp, eat another meager meal, and continue their fight to keep warm and dry in this icy, unfriendly environment.
Weather for day 9 of the journey/day 7 in the Spine of the World: 3
The following morning Harshnag announces, "This will be our last full day of travel; tomorrow by midday we will reach the Eye."
The fierce wind has subsided and given way to a light snowfall, an exchange that the party accepts gladly. They set out once again, vigilant and determined to face whatever danger the Spine might bring their way. Several hours later, they do indeed face another danger: a massive crevice that cuts across their path:
I walk along the relatively flat ground, backtracking 40 or 50 feet as I look up slope to find the safest route. "Vigan," I call out. I pull out my set of 10 pitons and a hammer as I wait for his approach. "If you can manage a free climb here and pound in some pitons, it should be a safe climb for the rest of us." I look meaningfully at Ladrian. "The gap is much narrower up there and I think we can arrange a way for everyone to get across at the narrowest point."
I look at the big goliath, holding up the pitons and hammer. "What do you think?"
Vigan methodically climbs the face of the mountain, hammering a piton into the rock every ten feet or so. Eventually, he stands high above the others (F2), where he can assess whether a jump across the narrow portion of the crevice is possible. The jump from the western side of the crevice (at P3) to the eastern side (at Q4) can be easily made by all. The difficulty, however, will be in maintaining proper footing upon landing on the other side. The landing area is covered with ice and snow.
(A successful DC 10 Athletics check is necessary for a secure landing on the other side of the crevice)
"Okay," I explain to the others, while Vigan looks down at us from on high. "I think if we have a rope tied around our waist when we jump across, we will lessen any risks of sliding down the mountain on the other side. Let's say Harshnag jumps first, then Ladrian, Andor, myself, Carrow, then Vigan. Make sure you are tied to the person ahead of you before you jump. Sound good?"
When everyone seems on board, I climb up to Vigan.
By virtue of the trail of pitons placed by Vigan, the ascent of 100' (C10--->F2) is a no-risk endeavor. Moving laterally, and ascending another 20' (F2--->P3) is also rather straightforward and lacking risk. The shortest jump across the crevice (P3--->Q4) is a distance of approximately 4', but it is complicated by the fact that ice and snow cover the landing area.
Player options articulated thus far are as follows (of course, other options may exist):
Jump from P3 to Q4 without any sort of safety precautions. This jump requires a successful DC 10 Athletics check. Failure means the player loses his balance upon landing and, subsequently, falls into the crevice.
Jump from P3 to Q4 with some sort of safety check in place. Suggestions include the following:
Throw a blanket or bedroll across the chasm to lessen the slipperiness of the landing area, and then jump across (DC is lowered from 10 to 8)
Jump across with a rope attached to the person who makes the jump and the person next in line to make the jump. A critical fail by the jumper would cause the jumper to fall into the crevice. The next-in-line person must make a DC 10 Athletics check or also fall into the crevice.
Jump across with the Immovable Rod in hand and, just before landing, activate and maintain a grasp on the rod, which will likely ensure a secure landing. A critical fail would mean the jumper botched his attempt in some way and fell into the crevice. Upon landing safely, of course, the jumper will need to determine how to return the Immovable Rod to the others so they may use it.
If a player falls into a crevice, the damage sustained by that player will be determined by a die (d10) roll:
"If you don't mind, Harshnag, I'd like you to spot my jump," I say to the giant. I tie a rope around my waist and wait for him to do the same. Then I toss my blanket across the gap to give us a sound place to land.
"Okay," I mutter. "Here we go."
Athletics: 13
I land safely on the other side and release a breath of relief. It wasn't a far jump but it was a long drop in the event of an unfortunate slip. I untie the rope from my waist and let Harshnag pull it back across. Then I position the blanket a bit better and move out of the way of the next jumper.
"This is unnecessarily risky - Harshnag, could you stand across the gap and just lift me over, I'm more about casting spells and such, not so much the athletics."
Andor smiles at the giant, and waits for his response.

After making his way up the rocks and over to the edge of the crevice, Harshnag fastens the rope around his massive waist. Rixtonmakes the jump first, and does so smoothly. Ladrianthen follows; he lands and loses his footing even though the blanket is there to help him. Harshnag reaches out with his right hand and takes hold of the rope, basically suspending Ladrian in the air momentarily as he works to regain his balance and move to a safe spot.
The frost giant listens to Andor's idea and studies the ground on the other side of the crevice; he then places his left foot on the blanket, allowing him to straddle the gash in the mountainside. "No trouble at all. Climbing down then becomes our only danger."
Harshnag then deposits Andor safely and securely on the other side of the crevice. Assuming Carrow and Vigan are agreeable to it, Harshnag does the same for them as well.
For what it's worth, I didn't want to be the one to determine how the group crossed the crevice; so I purposely kept Harshnag silent on this. But after Andor brought up the idea of being lifted across the crevice, I then felt like I could have Harshnag play that idea out.
Now, all that remains, is a sheer descent of 60' and then a climb down a mild slope.

Rixton:
I look down the decidedly treacherous climb. "Sorry to ask, Harshnag, but I think we could use your assistance getting down the first part of this. Do you mind lower us down to there?" I say, pointing to the break in the slope where it becomes less steep.
After getting lowered down, I try climbing down the rest of the way while the next one is lowered by Harshnag.

I slip as I begin the climb and tumble awkwardly down the rest of the ill to the bottom, landing with a thud on my knee and crying out in pain.
