As Vondal looks over the corpse, finding it to have pointed ears. But he can't tell if it's full blooded elf or a half-elf. It has a strange carved symbol hanging from its belt. It looks like some kind of leaf with a star in the center. Aside from its staff, it has a concealed dagger and four days of rations.
You perform the spell using your stonespeaker crystal, and as far as you know, the corpse is ready. You can post them one at a time or all at once; however you think it would work best for you.
"Believe me, I know hammerer. But trust that I do not dabble in this as lightly as the one we put down... and if I go too far-..." Vondal trails off there, trusting that Adrom and whoever else were close enough to hear to know the meaning behind his words. With that said, he focused back on the corpses, took a moment to steel himself, and then began his inquiry of the elf-blooded man.
"What is the meaning of symbol on belt?" "Why did you and your ally attack us despite the efforts of our fellow to calm the situation?" "Are there more of you besides the one you were with that would impede our efforts to get to Cragmaw Castle?" "If you were to die, what would you wish to have done to your body in respect?"
He asked the first four, and would listen to each in turn. But for the last one, he held his tongue to give himself at least a few seconds to consider the previous answers.

The green light emanating from the head of the dead seems to lessen and intensify sporadically as the audible sound of air rushing into the dead lungs is heard following Vondal's first question. "I am a Star Reaper." Again, the light shifts and the lungs fill following Vondal's second question. "Outsiders are dangerous." In response to Vondal's third question, following the inhalation of air, the creature growls, "Steal our home. Take our land. You must be stopped." Vondal proceeds with his fourth question, but the corpse simply responds. "You will die, desecrator."
(Oh, sure its fine if a cleric has the same spell and does it. But if anyone else does its discretion. Bah!)
Vondal scrunches up his face at the last answer. While tempted to reflexively argue a point, remembering the nature of his own spell, he catches himself and just closed his eyes to think. At Karl's questioning, Vondal came to his answer and would ask plainly of the spirit, "What is the route, if any, will allow us to avoid your territory but reach Cragmaw castle?"After asking as much and receiving an answer in one form or another, Vondal searched his memory for any history lesson, side bar heard, or general memory of random bits of history picked up from the Madam's museum back in Neverwinter, hoping for more insights.
"That it's the problem with them. They don't like you, they attack you. No logic behind their actions. You step on the wrong fallen leaf and it's enough for them to try to kill you. Now this were two, imagine if the had been ten, or twenty. I really hope there wouldn't be so many... "
The green light issuing from the corpse's head brightens as a growl rises up and turns into words. "The castle is our territory!" it bellows. Then, as if the last had used up the remaining magic, the light disappears, and the corpse seems to deflate a little into the earth.
On that last note, Vondal's eyes go wide for a second, and then squints and frowns at the corpse. "Looks like there's no avoiding it. And that there may be even more going on than previously expected. But for elves to work with goblins? It's... Just..."Anger gives way to confusion, and then seconds later frustration as Vondal tried and failed to piece together more commonalities.
"It doesn't matter. Gundren is yet counting on us, and we have delayed things for far too long. If these 'Star Reapers' wish to make enemy of us, then.... so be it. We will have just have to be as cautious as we can, and prepared to leave this forest as soon as he is safe." A firm nod by the hill dwarf is soon followed by him looking to Karl. "I hate to say it, but it's probably best we not rest here. Uncle, you and nif still have bearings yes? Best we be off then, but keep eye out on potential hidey-ho to rest in, I think."

"Right you are lad." Karl says as he sets off "keep your eyes peeled young-un" he says to Nif. As they set off he slaps the haft of Hew "Ma I tried but if these so called tree lovers want a fight I'll be happy to oblige!" He then leads the party deeper into the woods watching carefully all the time (Karl's Perception = 23 / Nif's Perception = 9)
Karl, you've been feeling uneasy since entering the Neverwinter Wood. You didn't think much of it, but now that you've been ambushed, your mind keeps playing out scenarios full of more deceptions and unseen eyes watching you from the shadows.
Nif, your thoughts keep wandering back to the memory you were trapped in back at the fake glade. It was almost as if you were back there in your younger years.
The party marches through the forest until it is almost completely dark. The party begins to talk about needing to stop before someone falls in a hole or something when Karl notices a very large dark shape against a slightly lighter dark sky not far ahead and to the right. It looks to be about 100 feet away.

"There's summat over there"Karl says pointing "but I don't reckon we should stop - I say let's push on?"
Vondal frowns and squints up at the dark shape once pointed out. "It could also be castle we seek, in truth. Nice open area would fit for it. Make it harder to approach unnoticed, or hide from arrows from any manning their position." He said, tugging at the side of his beard. "If so, now is best time for slightly closer look. Goblin and most elven vision decent in dark, but limited." Its at that, his eyes go wide, and then looks over to Nif.
"Brother Nif. If remember correctly, your kin have better darkvision. What you see?" He asked.
(@All: Not sure if it'll matter, but Nif has 120 ft of darkvision. If we only just make it out as a shape with 60, hoping he is able to confirm if its just some weird sacred stone site, or something more.)

Nif responds that it's definitely a large structure — perhaps the castle you're looking for. And, harkening back to what the old man said, the duergar says it does look like a bunch of towers.

Vondal nods and adds, "We need to keep it low as well. With any luck, they won't notice the rocks that is us getting closer." He then looks to Adrom and his armor. "Vell.. hopefully. And if not, its not as if we came here to ask them nicely."One last quietly made jest, and then it is right after Karl while keeping his own eye out for even the faintest signs of movement from the direction of the castle.

(Can Adrom roll for Religion or History to see if he recognizes the symbol in the belt? if so we can liberate one question.

Listening to the corpse’s words Karl thinks for a minute “ya know I don’t wanta pinch no bloke’s land. Maybe we should go a different way?”
