"A goblin fort. At least it was before we came."Vondal smirks, not even caring for the moment about some missing Goblin. "The Bugbear nearly did ya in when we arrived, as he seemed quite taken with you. Fortunately, Moradin saw fit for one of his hammerers to join in your rescue." He looks to Adrom next, and give the Dwarf a thankful smile. Noting the drow body in the peripheral again, that smile quickly turned into a frown.
"Here. Let me help you up. There yet may be a few more of your hosts lurking about. And it would be better we all are on feet, yes?" With care, the hill dwarf would slip Gundren's arm over his shoulder and help the dwarf back to his feet. Though if after the dwarf wished to stand on his own and pull his own weight, as most stubborn dwarfs tended to be, then the monk acquiesces to the wish. Even then, he stays close. "Right then. Let's search this bodies. And make sure that Drow is truly dead. I've been fortunate to only see their ilk from afar. But from what my Sister has told me from her time as border watcher, zhe aren't known to end there own, foul lives. At least, not the females without serious prompting."He suggests, and Gundren is indeed able to stand on his own two feet, he moves on to the door to the north for a look inside and confirming no other enemies waited there.

As Vondal speaks, Gundren's eyes seem to clear, and he shows signs of recognition. "Vondal? Is that you?" He looks up at the others. "Karl? Nif?" He look at Adrom and smiles politely, but continues trying to look around the room from his prone position. "Are Bron and Einar around here somewhere?" He watches as Adrom looks confused and the other three exchange looks ranging from regret to resignation. Their friend chuckles a little nervously, "Nevermind, then." He allows Vondal to help him to his feet. Looking down at King Grol, Gundren scowls. "Sildar and I were — Sildar!" Gundren exclaims, looking stricken. "He must still be in that cave!" The party explains how they saved Sildar, and escorted the human to Phandalin where he is still, as far as they know. Gundren is relieved, but also confused. "How long ago was that? It's hard for me to know exactly when things have been happening. First, I was in that cave with Sildar, then they brought me here, and Grol has pretty much been ignoring me. He's obsessed with my map of Wave Echo Cave, but I don't know why. He doesn't actually look at it. This one, though," he says, jerking his chin at the elf. "She was very interested in the map. Last thing I remember was her swinging at me when I wouldn't tell her anything." He looks over toward the table. "Have you seen the map? We can't leave without it."
Vondal, you look in the room and find a recently unused bathroom. Nothing and no one else lurks inside.

Between Karl and Adrom, the elf's head is pulverized. The remains of the body, as Adrom watches, magically transform before his very eyes. The fairly ornate and somewhat beautiful clothing dissolves and becomes the same color as the elf's skin, which lightens to a bland gray. What is left is a hairless, genderless and apparent naked gray-skinned (headless) body.
Karl, you see nothing in the corridor outside of the room.
Nif, you search Grol in this amount of time (as Vondal had suggested; Gundren is watching). On the "king", you find four gold rings, two gold bracelets, a rod made of some kind of bone, three daggers, a morningstar, a fairly abused chainshirt, and 1 gp.
(@DM: You underestimated a dwarven grudge! Vondal was lucky enough to convince the others not to kill our goblin friend from back at the Redbrand Hideout. Speaking of, did any of us recognize any of the goblin's we faced so far to be the same one out of curiosity?)
At Gundren distressed last note, Vondal escorts him over to the table to check for the map, assuming it wasn't clearly empty. If it wasn't, and the map is there, he is sure to pass it along to Gundren to confirm it was the right one. But if was, he'd rub his forehead and look to the naked and headless... thing, before turning to the others with a, "I hate to bring this up. Truly. But, there is still matter of our missing goblin friend, and those... folk that attacked us waiting in forest. We can hope the former will find his friends and run, but..."A the hill dwarf haplessly shrugs. "Adrom was right about needing to sit for a spell. But, if we are-..." He looks to all the bodies around.
"And to secure a room until we've at least short rest, we should probably a move on with these bodies, yah? Then bar door. And then... just take breather. In fact, I think that room should suffice for stashing them out of way."He gestures over to bathroom recently discovered. "But, I leave it you all. Quite frankly, it is difficult to think from all the old bloodloss."He grins sheepishly. When/if Nif does display his findings, Vondal would ask for the rod with the intent of magically studying it if alotted time to rest.

Adrom reassures Grunden and helps the others clear the room for them to get some rest. There is no sign of the map on the table. Gundren joins you. He's very anxious to find the map.
Adrom, you've heard of humanoids who could change their appearance. Of course, there are spells that can hide an individual's appearance behind an illusion as well. You're not sure which the "elf" was using. When Gundren hears your question, he responds, "I'm not sure why she wanted it, but Grol was making sure he got everything he could out of her before he let it go."
Adrom rests a little bit more assured that there were no drow involved in this but he is still uneasy for the presence of such creature and the interest on the map poses more questions that gives them answers.
He thanks Grunden for his insight and helps the others in anything they could need.

Nif, you have touched a few magical items and know that they "feel" different, even to the untrained. The rod doesn't give you that same feeling; it feels very mundane. You do notice some notches that appear to be added on purpose and also some damage that appears collateral.
Vondal, if you'd like to toss the room, roll an investigation check. I'll lower the DC if you actually tell me where you're searching (such as when you specified the table). Either way, Gundren will help you, so roll with advantage (though he won't suggest where to look).

Hidden under Grol’s bed mattress is a stitched leather sack containing 220 sp, 160 ep, three potions of healing, and a map to Wave Echo Cave. Gundren is elated when the map is found.
You all decide to camp out in Grol's bedchamber. As the sun is beginning to rise when you begin to bed down, your eight hours will take you to early afternoon.
Three or four times over the course of your long rest, you hear a blood-curdling screech that sounds more like it is coming from somewhere in the castle rather than outside of it. When asked, Gundren says he doesn't know what it is, but it's not the first time he's heard it.

Though with the screeches every now and then, it was not to be a pleasant one. When it/if it happens during his watch, Vondal at that point assumed it to be another one of the goblin's pet beast; and yet all the same, found himself idling part of the time trying to guess at what kind of creature it could belong to.
Regardless of whether such pontificating yields much in the way of information, when the time came for them to break their fast, vondal still went through most of the usual morning rituals; including the swapping out of spells now adays. Over breakfast he would also inquire Gundren on anything else he heard during his tenure with the goblins on their relationship with both the creature slain and the local druids, if they hadn't done so the night before.

Assuming he does he leaves to search the castle for it, As he does he looks over his shoulder "anybody else comin'?"
Vondal nodded to Gundren, and would've continued to muse on the subject if not for Karl throwing him off balance for a moment. At the mention of Hew, he started to staring at the axe with renewed interest, only to turn to Karl at the question. "I was afraid you were gonna say that Uncle."
