Karl stands there with his hands on his hips watching Gundren undertaking his silly walk, which to describe it rivals anything John Cleese or Peter Garret (MIdnight Oil Lead singer and former Australian Minister {Secretary Equivalent} for the Environment) performed at their best and just sighs. He turns to Nkif and says "young 'un show this 'orrible lot ow to move quietly will ya"pointing in the direction that Gundren has indicated "don't worry I'll be right behind ya"Nif gives Karl a wink and says "OK Uncle"as he heads off down the passage like some sort of wraith followed by Karl who kicks a rock as he sets off. Karl tuns and glares at the party "nobody say a word got it!"
As Nif stealths toward the northwest, the smell strengthens and sours considerably. He fights the urge to turn around and hurry back and is rewarded with a view of three bedrolls and a heap of ordinary supplies — sacks of flour, bags of salt, casks of salted meat, lanterns, flasks of lamp oil, pickaxes, shovels, and other gear. Amid the supplies, he catches sight of the body of a dwarf miner. By the look and smell, he did not die too recently.

Nif medicine: 8
Nif recognizes the dead dwarf to be Tharden, the youngest Rockseeker brother. Nif isn't absolutely sure what killed Tharden, but the dried pool of blood beneath him would indicate a grievous wound somewhere on his body and that it happened longer ago than just a few days (as does the smell).
After examining the body Nif quickly looks up and across at Gundren before looking down again. He then slowly walks across and whispers in Gundren's ear "I think it's one of your brothers - possibly Tharden. I'm not sure exactly what killed him but whatever it was did a fair bit of damage. Also can't say exactly how long he's been dead but its certainly been a couple of days or more!"
Gundren looks as if he is ready to run at the body when Adrom places a gauntleted hand on his shoulder. "Allow me to take a look at the body, lad," the cleric says.
Gundren, his eyes full of worry and sadness, hesitates and then nods.
Adrom crosses to the sleeping area and examines the body. Upon rolling the body over, he finds several deep wounds cut with blades: one in the stomach, one in the chest, and one at the base of the throat. They appear to have been inflicted either simultaneously or in quick succession. The dwarf most likely didn't suffer long.
As Adrom moves to check on the body, Vondal takes his place at Gundren's side. Though he says nothing, knowing or perhaps unable to find the right words, the gold dwarf at least rests a callused hand upon the grieving dwarf's shoulder. "Ve will find out who or what did this. And if it is who we think it is, and they still dare to be here... vhey will not be leaving here intact."He said without looking away from the body's at least general direction. And while it could be true that Vondal and the other Rockseeker weren't nearly as close, his expression was as hardened and determined as one wanting to avenge a fallen kin.

Karl looks over at Vondal "young'un you've finally you've learnt the art of understatement. Under promise and over deliver is what I say but this time they wont be leaving here at all - intact or not!"
Closing his eyes and muttering a prayer to Moradin to take the deceased dwarf, he covers the corpse with a blanket from the sleeping area.
"The attack was quick. He says to Gundren trying to offer some comfort " He didn't suffer. We can take him with us in our way out. " he offers " we should keep looking..."
"Was there any sign of Nundro?" Gundren asks, trying to speak through his thickened throat. Nif tells him Tharden's was the only body. Gundren looks at the ground. "They may have wanted a guide ... But only one." He looks at Karl, red starting to tinge the edges of his eyes. "What if this is my fault? What if I said something and someone overheard?" He balls one hand into a fist. "I'm so sorry, brother," he growls through gritted teeth.
Vondal frowns a little at first to Karl, only to sigh soon after remembering the elder dwarf's meant well... in his own way. After listening to the rest, Vondal squeezes Gundren's shoulder once, and then pats it a few times in stepping forward to better take in the immediate cavern. "Not your fault, Gundren. If mine once famous before, always chance of others learning of it. Learning of it other ways, and being the worse of sore losers as to go this far upon being beaten to such a place." He said solemnly.
"But, we are here now. And since they likely have Nundro as guide, we now have all the more reason to hunt down the one's responsible for this. So for his sake, we should not dally here."Vondal adds, before then finally looking back to Gundren. "Though this is your brother we speak of, we know you no proper fighter, yes? If so, rest of us vill go ahead while you re-establish base camp here, yes? I not forget mentioning of other 'things' here. Things that could slow progress, so best have point to retreat -- Briefly, and only briefly enough to mend wounds if needed. Either way, we come back once know for sure which way they go, so that you vill have chance to exact personal justice."

Gundren blinks at Vondal. He at first looks defiant, but then appears to deflate. Nodding, he almost whispers, "You're right. I should stay here." He turns to look in the direction of Tharden's body and then back at the others. "Please find Nundro."
The northeastern section of the cavern has collapsed, forming a 10-foot-wide, 20-foot-deep pit. A sturdy hemp rope is tied off around a nearby stalagmite and dangles down the side of the pit, at the bottom of which is a rough-hewn tunnel heading both northwest and east.

Karl turns to the rest of the party “alright gents looks like we need to go down the rope, I’ll go first then Nif.” Karl tests the rope - if he thinks it strong enough he starts to before climb down (Athletics roll = 27)

Vondal stood firm, knowing the words needed to be said and stood by for the dwarf's sake. "Ve vill. Do not worry."He goes back over on that note to pat Gundren on the shoulder, before then moving back to follow Karl back to the edge. "After their go, you should be next Adrom. I'll go last and keep my bow ready until its my turn. Just in case there's any hidden surprise and all that."He said while sliding an arrow into place. Once everyone was down and the way at the bottom had been cleared, Vondal would soon enoung join the others below. (Athletics: 13(if needed)
If nothing untoward has happened by then, he whispers to the others and says, "Alright. Which way, Uncle? See any signs of someone being dragged one way or another perhaps?"
