"Yes uh .. Wrynn and Dolan Boldfoot own that place. Actually I just saw them in town a couple of hours ago. It's no guarantee but it's as good a bet as any. I hope you can help - we'd all like to know we can sleep through the night again!"

Sizan Sidrosin
While the others are busy conversing, Sizan finishes his meal before sinking into his own thoughts. His goal? To see if he recall any lore about haunted scarecrows, or the hags no doubt responsible for such malicious behavior. "Or could it be halflings in a trench coat?" He mutters at some point.
I wouldn't say you recall anything specifically about scarecrows, but certainly there is magic capable of creating or animating something like that, similar to the way a golem would be created.
Tiriel pauses for a few seconds at Dori's question. "Well we uh .. well we're just farmers, not fighters. Besides it's been so random and when it happens people just want to keep themselves and their families safe. A couple of the others have managed to chase it off but that's the best we've done."
Shaking his head at Dori's comments Gargan says to the farmers as he slaps Dori on the back "I apologise for my friend here, as you can see he is used to being the thing that goes bump in the night. You have been most helpful and we hope to settle this matter soon so that you might all rest better at night." Gesturing to the round of drinks he has ordered for everyone he finishes "Please enjoy a drink as a gesture of my thanks."
Moving away and gathering with the others he says "Shall we see if the Boldfoot's....or is it Boldfeet....? Regardless shall we see if they are still in town or just head out to their farm west of here when we are ready?" before he tucks back into his stew and wine to finish them off.
After thanking Matty and Tiriel for their help, he'll follow Gargan back to the table with the rest of the party.
"Since they are the only farm that hasn't been terrorized yet, either they are next, or they are the source of the scarecrow. Either way I believe our answers will start with the Boldfoot farm."
You thank the two farmers for the information and get ready to head out. You'll have to pay the bartender 3g for all the drinks you bought yourselves and everyone else.
The farm in question is not far - in fact it's visible from the village, so you head out there. There are three buildings on the property - a two story residence, a large 2 level barn, and a smaller single story building that looks like a tool shed or something similar. You knock on the door, which is opened to the sight of two more humans, male and female, with darker skin and hair.
"Wrynn and Dolan Boldfoot I presume?" and he bows "I am Cloudfur, and these are my companions. We have come to help with the scarecrow concern and were told that your farm is the only one that hasn't been bothered yet. Would it be possible for us to set up camp on your land to watch out for the menace and hopefully remove it? I will make sure we do not disturb you or your animals."
Sizan still has the pensive look about him when he joins back with the others. Of his thoughts on the subject, he says nothing at the time: only nods in acceptance of the next course of action.
"Before that, however, I have an inquiry as well." Sizan steps up beside Cloudfur once they arrive on the site. "Several, in fact. I hope that is alright." He bows slightly but far more formally at the waist compared to the Tabaxi. Probably. "You would not happen to be able to furnish further details about the matter. Specifically, do you know if any in the area have recently run a foul of someone, or were entreated recently to sell your lands? Or superstitions that happen to line up with what has been happening involving the recent scarecrow attacks."

"Well I .. we appreciate your offer to help though there's no guarantee it'll show up. It's been totally random so far. I'm sure we don't know anything you haven't heard, if you've looked into it enough to wind up here. The one thing we just learned today when we were in town was that the description of it varies. One person I spoke to said it had a sackcloth hood on it's head, while the other swore it's head was a rottten pumpkin. Anyway you're welcome to camp nearby if you like. There's a window in the barn that would leave good view of both the house and shed, and a good amount of our land - you could climb up in there if you want to."
"Thank you, that is most generous of you to offer. Please take this..." Gargan hands his paperbird to them as he speaks "Should you come across any sign of the scarecrow and we have not yet already acted please use this to let us know immediately. That way we can avoid scaring it off too quickly, I feel a touch of discretion will help us get to the bottom of this don't you agree?"
"Yes, however if you do not know your letters, just put your mark on the paper, speak Gargan's name and the message shall fly to us and we shall come to investigate. Also the offer to stay in the barn is most welcome. May Chauntea watch over your farm, and with some luck perhaps we shall sort this matter this very night."
The man still looks a little perplexed (it is unlikely he would have seen or heard about anything like this before), but shrugs and says "If you say so.. good luck, I really do hope you find something. Oh as to your other questions, I can't imagine we've antagonized anyone. Especially at this time of year when we are basically just holed up trying to keep warm until spring. And certainly no one's offered to buy our land. I don't know about anyone else.. I haven't heard anything but it's possible I guess".
Unless there are other questions, he'll come with you to the barn to open it and show you inside. It's a large building, filled with equipment, tools, 4 horses, and a number of sacks and barrels that are likely their food stores for the winter. Parts of the second floor are open to above but there are spots in the rafters that have some flooring installed with a set of makeshift stairs that extend up. When you climb up it's a big enough area for the four of you though it creaks a bit under Dori's weight. If you open the shutters for the window up here you can indeed see most of the front and back of the house, and the smaller building to the left. The far side of the house is obscured (since it's only a little shorter than the barn).
You can choose to wait it out here, or if you want to do something else let me know. If you're waiting, you can also let me know where you are each positioned, and how long you intend to watch for. Also make perception checks each of you.
