Jack
As Cloudfur approach, Jack froze up on the spot. Her grip (assuming she ever got ahold of Ambrose) tightening on the man to the point of being felt even through thick cloth and metal. To her credit again, she bit her lips, and held her composure until he ran off again. "It's... so... not... faiirrr…" She trails off groaning, and swearing under her breathe. Then with a stomp of her foot, she starts moving and ushering Ambrose. "Come on! No more distractions!"Said the Harper. In the blink of an eye, her eyes become pupiless and white as another eldritch invocation lit the world up (to her eyes) with faint auras. Most she cast aside as ambience from the weave in favor of more distinct patterns and 'stains' upon the material plane.

As the others head off towards the north Gargan nods to Kanus and begins to set off towards the south. As they start to make their way he says "How keen are your senses my friend? Are we best served by sticking to the outskirts and looking in or would it be to our advantage to move more towards the centre?"

"Well my eyes work fine for an old man, if that's what yer askin'" Kanus grinned to show that his serious tone was in jest and then pointed south, "I'll save my gifts for when we think we have a lead, for now lets just skirt around the edge and then we'll move to the interior"

Gargan
Smiling back in return Gargan continues the joke "One must take care to look out for ones elders, for after all one will be be at the mercy of the young after the years take their toll." His smile fading he continues in a more serious tone as he turns he gaze out towards their surroundings. "A sensible suggestion, let us see what we might find this night."
perception:20 (with 120ft darkvision if it makes any difference :) )
Watching Jack and Sir Ambrose head north and Gargan and Kanus heading south, Cloudfur will look around, shrug his little weasel shoulders and bound off towards the center of the City of the Dead looking for signs of the necromancer.
The four of you spread out to various strategic locations with a couple of you on roof tops for visibility. Ambrose continues a steady patrol of the entire area in an attempt to catch more obscure areas. The first night is fruitless and uneventful, as is the second, and the third. On the fourth night, however, Gargan is perched on a crypt in the far southeastern corner of the area, and sees some motion in the dark as the door of a nearby crypt swings silently open. Out of it steps a dark, robed figure, followed by 4 rather ragged looking skeletons draped in tattered armor. They move about 50' down a nearby path to another crypt. The skeletons appear to stand watch as the robed figure appears to go about trying to gain entrance to the building.
(At this point they have not yet seen you. As several days have now passed you obvious may consider yourself to have had a long rest. Also if there is anything you'd like to accomplish during those days, let me know. I am assuming for the purposes of this that you are staying up for the night and sleeping during the day. Otherwise let me know how you want to proceed!)
As the night passes Gargan is idly studying the spellbook he has on him to pass the time while checking the area for any disturbances. When he spots the robed figure and their skeleton entourage he immediately puts his book away and sets himself for business.
His first instinct is to set off a signal to alert the others, but he stops himself. The necromancer, one assumes, has not yet gained entry and would surely notice such a move. His skeletons may not be so astute however... He thinks to himself. Instead he waits for the robed figure to gain entry to the crypt while keeping a close eye on them.
Once the figure gains entry and disappears inside Gargan would immediately use prestidigitation to shoot a flare into the sky above him and get the attention of the others around the rest of the area while keeping watch on any further developments before their arrival.
True to her word, Jack leaves on the morning on the 1st day to get her report to her handler through more secure channels on the yawning portal: even if that meant missing sleep for the day. As well as pick up any Paper Birds if her last missive reached the higher-ups in time. Unfortunately, none could join her for one reason or another. BUT, if anybody had a wish for her to check up on anything while out, /that/ she can and would do with jest about owing her one later. Maybe even look into known fences in or through the Harper network? Or try their hand with Embric, the blacksmith near the manor. Ofther folks call. Ain't like she knew about the bars... yet.
Aside from that, Jack remained content to sleep off any exhaustion, and work the rest of the evenings without complaint. Only towards late afternoon on the 4th day did she mention stepping out again to check on Sizan. When she returns, it is with the sad news on the Yuan-Ti's intent to continue resting and idly monitoring the Zhentarium agents for at least one more day. "Somethings bothering him too. I just know it... *sighs*… Guess we'll find out tomorrow."She commented on after delivering the news, and then took her post.
(@Tanzier: Just to be clear, Jack does the whole changing outfit/changeling thing to avoid attention from the elf and his crew.)
"Not exactly the most subtle of signs."Jack jests, giving Ambrose a sidelong glance. "Let's hop to it." Despite the need for some haste, the operative manages her approach carefully to maintain at least some level of secrecy until she got within 120 ft of Gargan. At which point, she Message, and starts acting loosely as a relay point for information from the dragonman.
Assuming he doesn't already have the spell himself..

When you go to check in on Sizan you realize it's been some time since you've seen Dori, whom the others ask you to check on (since it's probably not in their best interests to return to the portal right now). You knock on his door a few times but there is no response. You ask Durnan about him - he tells you he had paid for his room for a week, but hasn't seem him since. After a while you decide to pick the lock (purely out of concern, of course) and gain entrance. The room is empty save for two items. On the night table is an old, worn journal, and on the dresser beside are the two silver bars he had been given at the warehouse. In the journal, flipping to the last page, you see "To be continued by Dori "Rockcrusher" Moogri..." scrawled at the end of the last entry.
You also check in with Mirt, who gives you two additional Paper Birds. Roll investigation if you're looking for a buyer for the silver bars.
Meanwhile back at the City of the Dead, after some struggling the robed figure manages to get the crypt's door open and slips inside. Two skeletons follow, and two remain. At just the right moment when the two skeletons look away from his location, Gargan casts his spell to create a flare shooting skyward. The skeletons do not notice.
Kanus sees the flare go up and smiles, "Good on ya..." he said as he broke out in a jog towards the location. When he arrived he patted Gargan on the back, "Whatcha got mate" then he followed the man's gaze to the skeletons outside the crypt. He took up his axe from his holster, "Were they alone?"
(@Jack, Gargan has the spell but of course he wouldn’t know where you were until you make contact yourself ;) )
Gargan
Having received Jacks message he quickly replies back to relay the details of what he has seen. A moment later when Kanus appears he nods in greeting before replying “Two more skeletons went inside, led by a hooded figure. I can only assume this is whom we seek. Jack is nearby with Sir Everdawn, once Cloudfur joins us I believe we will be ready to make a move, which you are more than welcome to lead my friend.” He finishes with a grin and a glance at the paladins Axe.
Sending another message to Jack he updates her: “Kanus has joined me, we only await Cloudfur now. I believe Kanus is keen to get stuck in.”
Jack being Jack decided to take a page out of Sizan and be a little too round about her inquiries. Needless to say, things don't work out quite as well. Alas, her Half-Elf disguise of Johnny Twofly is probably burned in the process. But solemnly did she swear to avenge him someday! Namely though because of the outfit that would've had to be stashed away. Just not anytime soon.
Fast-forwarding back to the present...
Jack messages back an ETA(*insert random short interval of time*), and for them to hold up till they get there. After reaching the others, Jack digs out a few stone from a pouch that -- as far as anyone else can tell -- is full of nothing but pieces of cobblestone and rock. "If we wanna take'm nice and quickly, Bix can enchant at least three of these. At the very least, throw'n should attract them towards a direct we wanna'm to go." She expresses.
OOC: "You point your finger toward a creature within range and whisper a message" I am not sure that would work :( (talking about just walking around till you ping them)
(@Mad: I don't see why not. If you're familiar with them, you don't even need to see the target so long as their a path for the spell to travel. The only real issue is how intently DM rules the whole 'knowing' they are past the barrier part of the spell. That and the time consumption, but at max range that is at least 4 rounds worth of attempts before reaching the target.)
