D.O.R.K watches for a few moments in silence, then turns back to the others. "Acolyte Meiva. Acolyte Devin. It may be in best interest for you two to go as well. I will send Vark and Beedo with you three as escorts. That Lukian is untested. And as you are aware, my ability to... 'converse' is limited."She looks to her brother to see if he isn't distracted, then back to the duo. "So is my brother's at times. Even if the opportunity to study clearly Cloud Giant Architecture and similar effects up will certainly provide future benefits to his creation." The last part she says loudly in case he seemed distracted with something again, hoping to kindle something.
Whether he takes the bait or not, she gently ushers Golemogote to stay kneeling for the others. "I will remain here on guard, as Vark and Beedo will be less a point of distraction or interest as they keep watch. Are we in agreement?"

Lukian turns to look at the others, his face showing clearly his surprise and interest. "You recognize this floating structure as cloud giant architecture? Is this the floating castle which attacked the village of Nightstone, then?" he asks, looking at Dork. He looks up and back again. "The full extent of my experience with giants was the visit yesterday. Are giants tricksters? Are they likely to make these stairs disappear when a climber is halfway up? And if they are hostile, is it likely they are inviting us up for a polite visit?"
OOC: Just making sure I understand that the party watched the stairs form? They weren't there and then we watched them appear? Or were they already there? And are they humanoid-size steps and not giant-size steps?
Yes. You saw the cloud float over you and come to a screeching stop - if a cloud is capable of such - then the stairs started forming eventually reaching the ground. Sorry if I didn’t make that clear.
"I'm not sure if I'm the mouth piece of this party. Maybe I'm just the most out spoken. I guess I don't know. But I take the charge given to me pretty seriously and I'm doing my best to stay focused on the quest."
As the cloud castle appears.
Devin looks up and sees the floating castle and watches in awe at its speed and majesty. When it stops and the steps appear he relaxes a bit.
"Looks like this was a good way to go. More giants have found us. Seems the best way to know what the giants are up to is to go directly to the source. I say we head up the steps. "
Devin will head up the stairs with the other members that go that way. He quickly catches up to Lukian and moves ahead of the goblins and starts to take the lead.
D.O.R.K lets out a sharp whistle, waking Beedo from his slumber. When he eventually scrambles up for orders... and having his name called upon getting stunned by the floating vista ahead, the War Cleric directs him to follow the procession. Which he does so in uncharacteristic quiet that leaves even Vark reeling from watching his fellow goblin walk up the steps. Shaking from the stupor soon after, Vark gives one final salute back to the construct, then bustles up after and a little past the others, shield in hand and scimitar close at hand.

"I see...no reason why I should not ascend, yes,"she replies, but Meiva moves noticeably slowly as she tests every single step before taking it up the entire staircase.
Remembering Lukian's questions, D.O.R.K makes sure to answer before he gets too far up the stairs. "In answer: Yes. Structure recognized as Cloud Giant make. Occupants unknown. Possibility of structure being same as one pursued unlikely, but not impossible. No accurate record remains to determine number of such remaining in service. Possibility of stairs disappearing underfoot at this juncture: Zero percent. Cloud Giants are "Nobles" among the Ordnig, and should be interacted with such in mind." She quickly explains. "Devin can inform of the rest on the way up. Stay on your guard."

On the way to the castle, Torunn is focused on his musket in his arms. Polishing the metal, oiling the wood and components, and varnishing the engravings. He doesn't take his eyes off his work until Gol stops and the group starts to discuss the giant castle above them. Torunn finishes his work, puts his tools away and looks up at the castle. "Yeah Red, definitely interesting."
He stands up, and heads the stairs. He inspects the stairs and tries to work out what material the stairs are made out of.
(Arcana?: 8)
Then with musket resting on his shoulder, he starts to climb the stairs.
Lukian nods as Devin explains. "Focus," Lukian repeats the cleric of Mystra. "That is a good word. Many in my village can boast of their focus ... though they wouldn't. Artists. Warriors. Historians. When you have centuries to focus on one particular thing ... " The elf looks away from Devin and his voice drops in volume a little. "Yet, they could not understand my focus." He pauses before looking back at the human. "Tell me again about the vision which set you upon this path," he says, boldness once again filling his voice. Devin relays his leader's dream again. Again, Lukian nods as the other cleric speaks. "Hill giant, stone giant, frost giant, fire giant, cloud giant and storm giant," Lukian lists, hesitating a couple times and allowing Devin to help him along. "From least to greatest," Lukian says, but it is a question, and Devin affirms he is correct. "The two visitors yesterday were cloud giants. Have you ever met another kind of giant?"
And now ...
Lukian allows any others who choose to pass him on the stair to do so. He will ascend once it is clear only those who wish to climb after him are behind him. He wields his shield, taking to heart Dork's advisement.
Lukian, Meiva, Toruun, Devin, Beedo and Vark all climb the stairs. After about 10 minutes of solid climbing they find themselves on a cloud platform which is as solid as the steps. You can see that the tower is approximately 210 feet from the cloud base you’re standing on to the base of the pointy wizard’s hat which adds about a further 150 feet of height. Directly in front of you are a set of double doors - each of which is 10 feet wide and 40 feet high.
The Cloud Tower (aka Floating Castle) - Day 3, Second Ten-Day, Month of Eleasis
1)Devin steps out onto the floor of the cloud tower and finding it solid under foot cautiously moves 20 feet forward to the edge of the archway which is covered by a thin, translucent blue curtain that is flapping in the breeze which is unusual given it is inside. Meanwhile Lukian, Meiva and Toruun bravely watch from outside the cast on the edge of the doorway 20 feet behind him
2) As Devin approaches the curtain he can dimly make out through it that the room on the other side is hexagonal in shape and approximately 100 foot across. As he looks up he can see hanging from the ceiling six illuminated spheres that look like there made of some form of crystal. Within the room he can see a giant-sized wooden table and stone chair and that there is a wide circular hole in the ceiling.
D.O.R.K watches for a few moments in silence, then turns back to the others. "Acolyte Meiva. Acolyte Devin. It may be in best interest for you two to go as well. So Lukian, Beedo, Vark and Devin are heading up the stairs. Anybody else.

Devin walks up to the gates and with only a moments hesitation he raps on the door with the end of his staff.
(OOC: I’ll be back in Manila in about 24 hours and respond then. I really need the PC to do the next bit properly.)
DM - Stopping a god in his tracks
Meiva stays as far away from the edge as she possibly can, donning her shield with unusual slowness as she watches the door.
And that's all I have to say about that.
As Devin raps on the right-hand door it opens silently.
DM - Stopping a god in his tracks
Perception on the door and inside the door: 10
Again Devin hesitated for a moment. Someone sent the stairs down, someone opened the doors, someone had to be inviting them in.
He then stepped onto the room beyond the doors and looked around.
Perception 21
Torunn keeps his musket ready and watches as the party members in front walk in.

"Hello? Anyone home? "
