This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perry waking Humphry would return his focus to battle, finally making his way through the door and into the larger room. He'd see a fellow human with a lute and under different circumstances maybe attempt a serenade. Instead though, the monk would rush forward with quarterstaff in both hands and take a swing at the bard, following the momentum with a kick to the nearby sorcerer.
Your quarterstaff misses the skull of the bard by a hairs breadth, but your subsequent kick connects with the sorcerers gut and he drops like a sack of potatoes.
Dagons axe comes down mercilessly, biting into the shoulder of the bard. She falls with a cry, and in a flash all four bodies have dissapeared, transported away by the game mages to be treated by expert healers. In the place of each body a glowing red skull is burned into the floor.
Congratulations and salutations, Blood Sharks! You have eliminated team Lion Pride. You each gain XP as follows.
Finally entering the room proper, Humphry walks over to one of the skulls markings, leaning down and tracing his fingers across its glowing lines. "Hah! W-w-e-we did it!" The gnome looks around at his allies with a sly grin, "But we haven't w-w-won j-j-j-j-just yet. Sh-sh-sh-shall we get going, or do some of us n-n...ne-need to rest?"
The axe connected with a sickening yet satisfying crunch of yielding flesh and bone, and the body of the bard crumpled at the marauder's feet like a lifeless ragdoll. Dagon howled in triumph and brought his weapon up a second time, prepared to separate the woman's head from her shoulders in a savage display of brutality. The weapon came crashing down without hesitation... without mercy...
And reverberated off the stone floor with a loud clang amidst a flash of eldritch power.
Eyes wide with momentary fury, the half-orc snarled and roared his displeasure to the air above him. He had been denied a trophy of his kill; an affront to his Clan's practices and his ancestor's bloody demands. He bellowed in his pigeon Orc and Giant dialect and cursed the fates that had cheated him, but after a moment, Dagon calmed and looked down at the skull that was burned into the ground at his feet. Though he could not claim his grizzly prize, his ancestors and his ancient Gods had seen his victory, and the marauder could find satisfaction in that. The hulking warrior then turned to look at the rest of his party, and he grinned what appeared to be, for the first time, a genuinely warm smile.
"Well fought pack mates! A fine hunt, and a fine kill. Though our hands are empty, our spirits are full. You have made your ancestors proud today."
Glancing over to Humphry as the gnome spoke, Dagon nodded his agreement.
"Yes, if any of you need rest, now would be the time. There is more prey out there to hunt," The half-orc marauder made a sweeping gesture to encompass the rest of the labyrinth, "and we must maintain our strength in order to succeed. Take what time you need, then we press onward."
Perry barely getting into the fight, takes a moment to put his quarterstaff away as he looks about the room. "No rest for me, but I can wait." Grabbing for his lute and plucking a few strings
(So by leveling up do I get to reset my spell slots and do I roll or use fixed value for HP?)
"I definitely need rest."
I prefer fixed but you may roll for HP if you wish. You do not regain the use of spell slots unless you take a long rest, but you do get to immediately use your new spell slots.
Seeing his team's agreement, Humphry motions for everyone to get back into the fountain room and closes the eastern door. He then starts examining the fountain, dipping his finger in the liquid, and putting it to his tongue, trying to determine there are any magical properties to the fountain or what it contains.
Seeing Humphry already working on deciphering his next subject of inspection, Dagon strides up to stand before the northernmost door in the fountain room, the one with some form of runic language carved above it. The half-orc's dark eyes stared at the runes for a moment, but he was not versed in the language and could not make any sense of the foreign shapes. He held his breath for a moment to quiet himself and leaned in a little closer to the door, remaining vigilant enough not to touch it, but curious to see if he could hear anything on the other side as they had with their fallen adversaries.
Perception Check, trying to hear anything on the other side of the northern door:17
As the group investigates the room and fountain Kic hovers in his meditative state and begins to exude a dull white aura. Above his head you can glimpse an image of a moon going through each of its stages. As the moon vanishes the glowing aura flashes brightly then fades away. Kic's eyes open and you see his pupils seem to be in the shape of a crescent moon for a moment then return to black.
(assuming the short rest is over)
Kic looks over to the group and resumes his hovering stance in a standing posture. "I am ready to continue"

Humphry!

Humphry, seeing the tiefling practically raise from the dead, peeks from behind the door frame and casts Chill Touch on the barbarian.
Ranged Spell Attack 13
Potential Damage 6
Is the dice roller malfunctioning?
Flayr Flameseeker | Genasi/Fire | Wizard/School of Evocation | Level 2 | Custom Campaign: Cold Cash
It worked when I first posted it. They were 13 to attack and 4 for damage.
If you want me to roll again:
Spell Attack Roll 25
Damage 3
The first roll came up. That's the one I'll use.
A ghostly hand frosted over with ice clutches the barbarians throat and strangles him into unconciousness.
Dagon!

(The bard is still up right?)
Enraged by his previous failure to connect with his elusive prey yet undeterred in his pursuit, the feral warrior rushes toward his foe once again.
Movement to the Bard's side. If possible, would like to position myself into a flanking position opposite Perry.
Again, the menacing greataxe rises into the air. Again... the cruel and merciless edge of the weapon comes streaking down.
Attack Roll: 18, Damage: 12
Just in case I'm able to flank and get advantage on the attack, I'll add the second attack here.
Attack Roll: 18
(I do use the flanking roll in combat)

Arcana 7
The fountain appears to be no more magical than Dagon's boot.

Humphry, not sensing any magical from the fountain, shrugs and cups his hands, drinking from the fountain while also filling up his water skin.
Okay used fixed method and will roll hit dice during short rest.
HP gained: 8
