Time is a big part of this encounter, and the map is shown as 1 square = 5 ft. Since the average character can move 30 feet in 6 seconds (battle rules), it would be possible to cross the entire map in minutes.
So it's left to the DM to figure it out. If the encounter is supposed to last many hours, with key events happening at certain times, then movement across the map has to be 'stretched' out. The squares are 5' or 10' or 20', whatever you want it to be to fit the scale/time. But the trap Beegred discovered is as wide as the hallway, and square. So you can't just walk around it.
I say the square is 5' and inclined, so jumping is an option. If it was 20' and inclined, then jumping wouldn't be an option for anyone.
The only other thing we could try is to find a boulder or some other piece of ruble, and toss it on the floor tile to see what is in the pit. But if there is a way over it without activating the trap, that is probably best.

You assume its a pit and not like a lake of acid that comes down the chute of a tunnel we're in....
That's why I said that it would be best to avoid rather than confront.

So am I tossing you over the pressure plate then? the only other option I could think of would be to try and jam some pitons or something in to the seams to stop the plate from moving and just walk over it (but Skameros isn't smart enough to probably think of that)

Aye for tossing.
Are these pressure plates? That would work for the "bathe in dropping acid" trap. But they might be slabs of brittle stone (chalk or sandstone) that will crumble, which works for the "spiked pit" sort of trap. Since we don't know, pitons could break the the plate rather than wedge it tight.

Winenose - I believe all four of the tunnels are uphill so we'd have to flood the entire dungeon I believe to get water high enough to the trapped squares
I know trying to trigger the trap was discussed here, but no one had suggested it in character, seems like something someone might come up with in this kind of situation :P
And I do wonder if trying to trigger one might actually be sfer than trying to toss someone OVER one of them. Most likely (though not guarunteed) if we trigger one from a distance it won't hurt any of us (and if it makes the tunnel impassible, we've got three more to explore :P). While failing the toss *over* the trap could end up with a dead ally if it goes too poorly.
an open pit might be easier to get over - we'd at least know what we were up against
Make a choice, but don't argue against all the options.

I will make a suggestion about what to do next, but if there is a different suggestion, I'll support your choice over mine (no need to argue).
(1) Wait 30 seconds. (2) With Skameros' long reach (so he can be safely back from the flagstone), hit the top of the shot-put / flagstone, to break it all the way through, so the stones fall down into whatever is below (3) if nothing comes out, everyone wait another 30 seconds to be certain

No. It's more complicated than that.

Not a pain at all. This is what the OOC thread is for.
Each tunnel leads to a trapped tile. What do you choose to do?
guess if they're all trapped we might as well just pick one and start tossing people over it - might as well just use the hallway we're in now
