Question for the DM: This thing is big and a black liquid ooze. If it is a Black Pudding, did Skameros' attack (slashing damage) have unintended side effects?

Sorry - I'm too quick - I sit in front of a computer all day so its easy to post quick and often
That happens all the time with me.
If it takes 10 minutes to read the recent posts and then write an action (including die rolls), it is easy to lose track of other posts that happen at almost the same time.

It's holiday season, not expecting people to be posting once per day until after new year. I'll keep an eye on the threads and post when it's time. But enjoy your holidays folks.
DM: All the bonus damage from the black pudding should be acid instead of poison, yes? Too bad, because stout halflings have poison resistance.
Also DM: For the armor weakening by the pudding attack, can I chose to apply it to the shield instead of the breastplate?
Rodolfo: Do what you want, but I suggest the Wand of Viscous Globs against the half of the Black Pudding that has a lot of health. If you can restrain it, then Beegred will retreat to range attack it with arrows.

I understand, but the way I see it is that Rodolfo doesn't really see much of what's going on, so he's defaulting to magic missiles that always hit. Also as mentioned in the official thread then shooting a glob at a blob just sounds like a weird idea in itself.

Thank you, you are correct. It is acid damage, not poison.
For keeping me honest, I will allow you to choose to have your shield take the -1AC damage.

Oddly enough, technically an ooze can be grappled or restrained, just like anything else. (But I'm guessing most DMs would home-rule that it would be difficult to put an ooze into a full nelson.)
The description of the wand says that on a hit, the glob expands and dries on the target. So I think it would be like those Dairy Queen ice cream shells, or a baked alaska. Or like a thickening agent, which turns the free-flowing ooze into an almost solid lump of clay.
With Skameros almost dead, and Beegred potentially falling in another hit or two, I figured restraining the black pudding and targeting from a safe distance was the way to go.

Skameros could try to grapple it - but then he'd probably die - 4hp left
I figured you would Disengage and step back. Don't want him dying.
If he could always be 10' away from the pudding, he would be okay. Could still attack with his long reach, and he would be outside the acid spray. (We need to find Boots of Flying for Skameros, so he could levitate over the heads of his enemies from a safe distance.)

Now that the pudding is restrained we can take it down with cantrips. Unless something else is about to happen I believe we can fast-forward through this fight?
I'm willing to have Beegred lose a few arrows to speed up the pudding slaying. We do have the flood-water timer to worry about. I was waiting to see if there were any more surprises.
With Hunter's Mark, each arrow will do 10 (2d6+3) piercing damage per round.

Is it just me, or has Skameros not attacked yet?OH! Skameros actually got an attack in before I posted the map! Yes, that changes things. The black pudding will split into 2 medium creatures.

Yeah I'll be out of town the 26th-2nd with basically zero internet access but I'll try and catch up if anything is going on when I get back in town.

You are carrying javelins.... They would be destroyed, but you would be able to attack the black puddings without them splitting.
