As a bugbear possibly in his right mind, Skameros would rather not condemn himself to death fighting a foe he does not wish to battle for a dream he doesn't want to die for.
The module is open ended. You can choose to go where and when you want. If this is seriously the option you choose to pursue, then what is your plan? I'm open to taking this where you want to take it.
I have continued the narrative in response to what Orubis has said. But just be aware I am not trying to steer you in any direction. You are all free to leave Blingdenstone and search elsewhere for a way out of the underdark.
I think Orubis has some vested interest in finishing up this business before moving on, but it would not be character-breaking to just leave either. Loyalty doesn’t seem like a big weight on his shoulders, I think
Regardless of if we get convinced to take on the Pudding King - the wererats won't show us where they are until the council agrees to let the wererats live in Blingdenstone - which is starting to sound unlikely by the way the council meeting is going
Personally I think this is a bad idea - my character is going to be mostly useless against hordes of oozes/puddings/etc - unless you want to make more oozes/puddings/etc hehe
I know Kerrec said he's not trying to railroad us in to this fight - but I feel like we're being railroaded in to this fight.
However in the interest of progressing this story forward Skameros will go with whatever the party agrees to because he (or I) have no better ideas.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we just come from the Neverlight Grove and it was a long and dangerous journey? And we actually fled the place because it was going nuts with some ceremony or parade type thing? If so then that's definitely out.
Do we know the way to the Duergar City? Do we also know if they consider gnomes a dessert or appetizer?
By these plans it looks to be a multi-week undertaking if not multi-month. Am I right here? If that's the case then I'd like to start with solving the Bane problem first.
To avoid having to roleplay this in the main channel, that information is readily available just by asking:
Path to Neverlight Grove: The path was mostly dangerous because the Drow attacked you and forced you to go through that drowning temple where you met Glabbagool. Beegred and his abilities will allow you to get back to the grove if you want.
Neverlight Grove itself: Yes, there were many Myconids that were being influenced by Zuggtmoy, whom you determined was actually IN the grove.
The Deep Gnomes know the route to the Duergar City. They would be the merchants, but given the importance of this purchase, the caravan would need to be heavily guarded to survive the extra dangers caused by the demons.
Duergar are absolutely slavers. The only difference between a free gnome and a soon to be enslaved gnome, is business potential. If the gnomes (and their escort) can prove they will be worth more in future business than as slaves, then they remain free.
The route to the City of Blades is 120 miles, or approximately 20 days (one way).
The route to Neverlight Grove is 96 miles, or approximately 16 days (one way).
Whatever course of action you choose, after this council with the deep gnomes, you will be leaving (or continuing in) Blingdenstone as level 6's. Upon your return (if you return), before any assault on the Pudding King, you will be level 7. That might open up some options to deal with Ogremoch's Bane.
I (Rodolfo) has an idea about what to do in Rockblight. Also just full out murdering a bunch of frozen drow sounds like something everyone in the group would enjoy. Kind of a bonding experience :)
Do you have any handy ways of dealing with an evil cloud?
I have Wind Wall?
That sounds like the way to go. Unless the gnomes have been holding back some unique ritual. Or if we had a bunch of blacksmith bellows and balance-ball sized balloons (to separate the cloud to weaken it, and isolate parts).

@dm I assume I’ll have a chance to prepare a spell list before our next steps?
I think my personal interest is the elemental issues, but the ooze acid resistance seems pretty important too. I’m less interested in messing with duergar, that just seems risky
The guardians protecting the Menhir are Galeb Duhr, a different kind of elemental. You actually had to fight earth elementals controlled by Ogremoch's Bane to finish the ritual to cleanse the Menhir.

Seems pointless to convince them if we don’t decide that first though

The big reveal! The battle for Blingdenstone begins.
Your party only has time to travel to one place, so either choose:
In the meantime, a strike team has to be selected. Dealing with Ogremoch's Boon will depend on the solution chosen and how much time it will take.
Personally I think this is a bad idea - my character is going to be mostly useless against hordes of oozes/puddings/etc - unless you want to make more oozes/puddings/etc hehe

You mean Beegred would confuse it to death.
I'm also interested in Rodolfo's idea that he is not telling us!?

My idea is to go to the menhir and break the yellow diamond that would release an earth elemental, thus filling the third spot on the menhir.
The guardians protecting the Menhir are Galeb Duhr, a different kind of elemental. You actually had to fight earth elementals controlled by Ogremoch's Bane to finish the ritual to cleanse the Menhir.
