FYI, Mistress Ilvara still considers you all to be valuable property. She enjoys beating and torturing, but everyone that returns to their cells will not die as a result. She heals enough to close open wounds and prevent infections or maiming
Makes sense. Narstin would still be doing what he could to ease the discomfort/pain for pepole in between :). (To which point, post #5 could be a possible inspiration for "Charity. I always try to help those in need, no matter what the personal cost.")

Sure. Too much fraternizing could earn you a reprimand and a visit with Mistress Ilvara, so doing so would have quite the personal cost. Inspiration granted.
Other than not having material components, is there anything stopping us from using magic?
Mistress Ilvara has made it quite clear that you have no business casting spells as a slave of the drow. If you want to try, you have do so in hiding. And to know if you can or not, you have to try first.
Roll a stealth or sleight of hand roll if you make the attempt. The DC is 10 if the spell is verbal only. DC 15 if the spell is verbal and somatic. The drow in the guard room are not very vigilant...
Same deal for Tozer and Xilyra (and others that attempt going forward). You get 1 strength check to break the chains and 1 dexterity check to slip out of the manacles, per long rest.
Delmae: Please roll a stealth or sleight of hand check to see if you can get away with trying to cast a spell without being noticed. Guidance is verbal and somatic, so DC 15. You can roll in this thread.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tozer: Your attacks are at disadvantage, but Ront is restrainted too, so that gives advantage. So a straight up attack roll. Just remember if you're attacking anything else, you have disadvantage.
HOWEVER! Per raw, any combat happens through initiative order. So roll initiative to see if you hit first or Ront does.
Ront initiative: 4
Also, unarmed combat is damage: 1 + Str mod. No rolling damage dice unless you have a feat or are a monk.
Additionally, I'm hoping for a bit of inspiration as a result of Tozer's attack on Ront. This action might be viewed as Tozer's defense of the Stormspar clan's honor.
My family, clan, or tribe is the most important thing in my life, even when they are far from me.

(Cool, the personal cost was the part I wasn't entirely sure about)

It's a bit of a stretch. But I'm glad you're all jumping onboard with this, so I'll grant it this time. However, in the future whatever you say or do has to be a reflection of your clan. Ront dissing on dwarves is a bit too general.
I believe I am caught up with the posts now. The timeline for Narstin's inspection of the gate can be flexible... it can happen before or after the altercation.
Also, Beegred gains -5 to the influence DC for Narstin, for the help action. To be rolled when you take a long rest.

Better he be distracted by Begred, than looking at any of the others (like Narstin) Sleight of hand: 5
(OOC: Busts his chain, helps Nastin do the same, and now pulls a magician's trick on the loose chain... Enjoy it while you can, before his rolls come back to earth.)
Beegred Thornpost - Lvl 8 Halfling Ranger - Out of the Abyss by Kerrec Drusk - Lvl 8 Half-Orc Life Cleric - The Long Road: Dragon Heist by Mingofaust (player & current DM) Hunferho Aelorothi - Lvl 5 Half-Elf Bard/Rogue - Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus (by Pokepaladdy) DM - Frontier City of Nunkreet (ended)
Valthana can't attempt to break her chains again until she takes a long rest.

As soon as I posted it, I realized I'd overlooked the initiative. Silly me.
Tozer initiative: 12

Tozer, please roll to counter the grapple: Strength (athletics) or Dexterity (acrobatics), your choice.
Valthana, I'll resolve your action once Tozer and Ront get their moves finished.
Athletics check for Tozer: 17

Beegred: Roll a sleight of hand check as you try to hide the broken chain from the drow guard.
I would have given you advantage for turning your back, but then you drew its attention, so just a straight roll.
edit: changed from stealth to sleight of hand.
edit 2 to remind myself: Delmae needs to roll Stealth or Sleight of Hand to try and get away with attempting to cast a spell.
Slow start today...
Everyone else, what are you going to do about the approaching drow and/or the situation that just occurred with the fellow prisoners?
Better he be distracted by Begred, than looking at any of the others (like Narstin) Sleight of hand: 5

Narstin roll Sleight of hand with advantage (because of Beegred)
