Super excited to join this campaign. As I already mentioned to Kerrec then I've once a few years ago done the initial part of Out of the Abyss, but not gotten any further.
I also listened through the first few Drizzt books a few months back to gain an appreciation of Underdark.
Been reading through the last few pages of the campaign and ... this is going to be very interesting indeed :) A lot of people in small space.
And a questions, might be for Kerrec - what are roughly the ages of the people that have done most of the interaction / been the most visible on both sides? In terms of young/old/inbetween.
Right now, you and your raiding party are only aware of the halfling and dwarf standing in the middle of the tunnel, taunting your leader. You do know there are more, but they haven't made themselves known (are not being loud). I will let them speak of their characters. And if you want to learn about ages later, you can interact, or roll to try and perceive what you will of the cast.
Thank you all for allowing me to join your campaign - this is one of the few I haven't played yet and am excited to. Currently reading up on what's been going on so far so I can fit in without too much disturbance.
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have of me or my experiences :)
In case you weren't sure about the situation, Beegred is out in the open, trying to draw the first attack from the raiding bandits (which will signal to the rest of party to attack), but they have outwitted the halfling by continuing to talk instead of attack. (That's why everyone is standing around, yelling "You're stupid!... No, you're stupid!... I said you were stupid first, stupid!...") The halfling is visibly on the young side, but has the bearing of an experienced soldier.
You don't know this yet (until you join the party), but Tozer and Xilyrah are the ones with minds dulled by the Underdark demonic nightmares, that we hope will snap out of it (OOC: if the players return). Narstin has his faith to keep his sanity, and Beegred is too much of a dumbass to notice that something is wrong. Valthana's mind went out to lunch relatively early in the campaign, so Kerrec has made her act like a mother hen to the young walking mushroom.
Beegred Thornpost - Lvl 8 Halfling Ranger - Out of the Abyss by Kerrec Drusk - Lvl 8 Half-Orc Life Cleric - The Long Road: Dragon Heist by Mingofaust (player & current DM) Hunferho Aelorothi - Lvl 5 Half-Elf Bard/Rogue - Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus (by Pokepaladdy) DM - Frontier City of Nunkreet (ended)
For the people in the "bandit group", how far back was the last fork in the road? What would it mean for Rodolfo and Krizz to backtrack it with their new companions?
In the last week or so of travel, you have crossed innumerable forks in the path. The path you are on was determined by a spell, but every new cave opening, hole downward or chimney going upward could be a path going in different directions.
I will let the rest of the day pass to let Narstin and Rodulfo get a chance to post. But in the meantime I have pre-made posts with rolls that I will have to update due to the new members. Please review the following roles:
Navigator: currently Sarith with Stool assisting (since Stool has knows the cardinal direction to Neverlight Grove)
Danger Watch: currently Xilyrah with Valthana assisting. Beegred's passive of 14 kicks in because of his subclass.
Foraging for water: Eldeth and Jimjar
Foraging for food: Beegred, Tozer, Narstin and Burfeth
Guard duty and shifts:
Shift 1: Sarith, Xilyrah and Narstin. Narstin rolls perception with help.
Shift 2: Derendil and Tozer. Tozer rolls perception with help.
Shift 3: Jimjar and Eldeth. Eldeth rolls perception with help.
Shift 4: Valthana, Stool and Beegred. Beegred rolls perception with help.
I'm assuming that "Burfeth" (for foraging food) is actually Derendil. (Strange how Kerrec wants to have fewer NPCs in the party... can't imagine why...)
Unless there are other suggestions, I'd say Rodolfo (+1 survival) gets added to food foraging, and Krizz (+0 survival) to water finding.
For watch duty, probably Rodolfo on 2nd watch (add wizard to tanks) and Krizz on 3rd watch (add tank to archers). It also puts a player on each shift, but I think there is enough in-game reasons to justify the meta-gaming. Tozer and Eldeth will want to keep an eye on the newcomers.

No, Burfeth is the escaped Moon Elf slave that is still tagging along with you. Derendil is not foraging because he has to watch and drag Khilseith (the laughing drow) along.
At the moment you can only see Narstin, Beegred, Tozer and Eldeth. Once the encounter ends, you will be introduced to the rest of the party. Just giving VanderLegion (Narstin) a chance to post before I have the bandits move past.
Also, I looked quickly, but please confirm that I am correct in marking down Krizz as NOT having darkvision?

Oh crap, I forgot about those two. :-)

Correct - I realized that after I had applied - but because you wouldn't allow races that had climbing speeds that knocked the tabaxi monk idea I originally had :P
perhaps someone will be nice enough to cast light on my maul then - hahaha
Well, that didn't take long. I need for Krizzibond to resolve if he urges the others to cast light or if he travels blind for the sake of not being easy to spot.

So what is the player characters current objective? are they trying to reach the surface? or are they looking for the same thing the bandits were?

Well, that would be a conversation to have with the characters, in character. :)
Guess I'll wait till we resolve the current issue at hand then before engaging in casual conversation :P

Oi - I'm gonna need a flow chart for this party :P
also my plan was to engage in introductions etc once we're safely past the bandit group FYI
I certainly understand the apprehension and suspicion of the party and us new members :)
