Beegred recovers his dropped swords, and 1 of his 2 used arrows. (Derendil likely snapped the arrow that hit him.) He stands solemnly over the fallen beast, and says a few words.
"As a member of our unlikely group, I wanted to get him to a place of safety. There are many times he shed blood to keep us alive... But whatever demons tormented him were more than he could handle. He tried to kill us, once again... Even in his rage, he wanted to be free of his cage. Now he is.
"Narstin, maybe you could say a few words to your Big Boss Upstairs? Maybe his soul can be guided to a place of peace."

Narstin sighs sadly as Derendil falls, then grimaces and looks away as Skameros makes sure the quaggoth doesn't get back up.
He nods along appreciatively to Beegred's words about Derendil. "I wanted us all to escape this wretched place, and we've lost so many of our group already. It grieves me more than I can say that it came to this end with Derendil. I don't know how he would feel about my praying to a dwarven goddess for his sake, but I will certainly remember him in my prayers. More importantly, I will continue to pray for the rest of us to escape this place."
Beegred unerringly guides what is left of the party to the Circle of Explorer's mound, and from there the cache of rations is not far. From your short time in Neverlight Grove, you come to think that the mounds are fairly safe... that is where the myconids gather to meld and rest. At the moment, the Explorer's mound is unoccupied. In fact, the surroundings appear deserted.
In the cache, you find fleshy looking bags with cords that can be used to sling them over your shoulder. In the bags are Waterorbs. Reminder:
A waterorb is a bulbous fungus that grows in shallow water. A mature waterorb can be squeezed like a sponge, yielding a gallon of drinkable water and a pound of edible (if chewy and somewhat tasteless) food.
There are more sacs of these waterorbs than you can conceivably carry.
The mound is as safe as a place can be being only several hundred feet from a Demon Lord.
Narstin grins as they reach the cache and find more supplies than they could have hoped for. "These should keep us fed and hydrated for a long time! That'll could save us a lot of time foraging for supplies and let us move faster. Or spend that time foraging for other things."
The party gathers as many Waterorb filled sacks as they can carry from the Myconid stash and return to the Explorer's Mound to take a long rest. They take their turns keeping a watch, but the party has enough elevation that they can watch the canopy of the fungal forest below, occasionally seeing streaks of movement and death cries as the cycle of life continues down below. Occasionally, eerie music can be heard coming from the east, beyond the Garden of Welcome. However, no dangers approach the mound, which remains devoid of Myconids the entire time the party rests.
CON saving throw vs. DC 12 (Yestabrod's infection):
Skameros: 10
Jimjar: 16
The next morning, Skameros and Jimjar look refreshed and whole once again. Skameros in particular thinks back on the previous day after the fight with Yestabrod and can't help but think it was all a bizarre dream.
The party follows the provided direction and comes to a wall thick with mushrooms. To someone not familiar with the grove, it would look like a solid wall, but as you push against the mushrooms, they give way. Pushing through the thick mushrooms while pushing and pulling your packs and provisions takes the party half the day and once out, everyone takes an hour to rest before moving on for another half day.
Hours later, while travelling in darkness in a tunnel barely wide enough for two to walk side by side, Beegred becomes aware of three glowing eyes peeking out from behind some large mushrooms.
Narstin shakes his head sadly to Skameros. "Not a dream, unfortunately," he tells his ally. "He attacked you, and then Jimjar as well. There....there was no choice."
Some among the party feel the intrusion of an unwelcome guest in your mind, in your inner most thoughts. Then everyone is party to a telepathic conversation that seems to be happening between two or more creatures...
(If everyone is using Darkvision, then Beegred is effectively invisible. But the party should be used to his voice by now.)
Beegred keeps his voice down, but says what he is thinking. "What is 'parrot cider' ? Is this mind talking coming from those glowing yellow eyes over by that mushroom patch?"

"Who's there?" Narstin says aloud, as well as thinking in his head in case he can respond to the messages.
One voice answers telepathically (everyone hears), "We are the seekers of secrets. We collect magic shinies. We know your secret. Give us magic shinies and we keep your secret."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(roll to regain charges for the Wand of Viscid Globs during the previous long rest: 3)
Rodolfo shouts back, "Here comes magic shinies!" And shoots a glob towards the eyes. Attack: d20: 17 (and second roll in case of disadvantage 19) + 5 to hit.
Beegred's actions, besides puzzlement over the conversation, is to draw the drow sword. And try to get within 1 round of movement to the mushroom's with yellow eyes.
