As the others follow Rodolfo, he appears to make an informed decision and asks Beegred to scout the lower part of the cavern at the bottom of the cliff.
Beegred holds his crystal to one eye and using his ranger training, climbs down the stairs. As he reaches the bottom of the stairs, the lower chamber reveals itself.
The floor of this cavern is worn smooth, but the walls are rough. A great menhir carved from a stalagmite stands in the center of the chamber, pockmarked with dozens of empty sockets that might once have held gems.
Beegred also immediately notices that the roughness of the walls outline several large, vaguely humanoid shapes.

Beegred will stick around just a little longer to try to gather more information, before returning to say there is a big rock thingy in the chamber. ("Menhir? I don't even know her.")
He'd like to get a closer look at the closest vaguely humanoid shape. (Elemental? Golem? Petrified person? Artwork that isn't actually threatening?)

Beegred does a good job staying in the darkness, using his trained skills to remain unnoticed. He approaches the large hulking shape, clearly seeing a massive torso and thick club like arms in bas-relief in the rough stone wall. Moving closer to look for more details, Beegred's foot comes down on a pebble, imperceptibly causing it to grind on the floor. The hairs on the back of Beered's neck rise as a sixth sense seems to inform the little ranger that several of the forms moved ever so slightly, to focus toward the general direction of the disturbed pebble underfoot.
Motionless, Beegred dreads as he holds to his instincts and his training, not moving a hair, not even breathing, waiting for the right opportunity to leave without further notice.

As soon as an opening is sensed, leave he does. (And reports to the others everything that happened, even if Beegred doesn't understand exactly what was going on.)

As Beegred gets back and describes what he saw then Rodolfo lights up in a hushed tone, "That's the place! The things you saw were probably earth elementals. There were several? Oh my... Did you see any other exits?"
He is clearly working on a plan of sorts. (Can we highlight the area Beegred scouted on the map?)
Rodolfo turns around a few times muttering to himself, "So we came from there, then went there, then we know this is there and.. that's that way. Right."
He summarizes, "We have to fix the menhir, but if these things Beegred saw are hostile and there is that many then we need an escape plan. Or at least some kind of a plan."
He looks at each of his companions and assuming their agreement he nods enthusiastically, "This area here is nice and large enough that if we need to improvise something then we can. But should first make sure nothing will surprise us. These two paths we have not yet checked. Lets take the one going up first and make sure there are no surprises. Beegred, you up for it? heh heh.. Beegred was staring off into space, lost in his memories. "Roasted pheasant... toasted breads... crisp greens... properly aged wine..."
After Rodolfo nudges him, Beegred wipes the drool off his lip. "What... oh, yes of course." (Beegred will stealth towards number 20 on the map.) Check roll: 16

Beegred looks at the inclined path climbing to a burrow entrance and carefully moves from shadow to shadow, avoiding the refracted lights of the crystal clusters to remain in darkness. Once Beegred reaches the threshold, he scans the room.
The adornments in this chamber would be more at home in a drow city. Spider-themed tapestries, fine zurkhwood furniture, and racks of expensive clothing fill the area, all of it old and rotted. At the center of the chamber, sits a zurkhwood throne. Behind a pillar, a humanoid form attempts to hide until something alerts it of Beegred's presence. The creature peeks her head out to look around, her white hair writhing. Beegred sees it is formed of pale, hissing snakes.
The creature speaks in a language Beegred doesn't recognize. Her voice and speech pattern is almost playful, like she's playing a game. She continues to scan the darkened room, unable to see Beegred. Then she moves to the throne, where a longbow and shortsword rest. She gathers them up and begins to head for the burrow exit, still speaking the whole time.
From down below in the cavern (area 19), Rodolfo manages to hear a female voice having a conversation in a language unknown to him. However, he can't seem to tell from which direction it is coming from.
Rodolfo narrows his eyes and quickly looks around. He whispers "I heard something".
He taps Skameros and Narstin quietly and makes the finger on lips "shh" motion. Then takes a piece of the crystal and holds it up to his eye and squats down.
Beegred will yell out (in Common): "Medusa-lady, don't hurt us and we won't hurt you." This is loud enough that the medusa and the party will hear him. (Maybe she will change to a language the halfling understands.) Then he will skeedadle away from the chamber, past where the group is (in case they are hiding for ambush), and try to get behind a larger stalagmite (for cover from arrows).

He will use his Action to also Dodge, to make any bow shots by the medusa more difficult.

Beegred moves from his cover to hunker down behind the petrified form of the gnome. He continues to speak (in common) to the Medusa and constantly relays where the Medusa moves for the rest of the round.
The Medusa speaks an ancient dialect of Elvish, which only Narstin understands, "Ahh, there you all are. The dust will be appreciative to have new toys to puppet around. Gaze upon me and let the last thing you see be the horror I have become." While she speaks, she continues to approach until she stands between Beegred, Rodolfo and Narstin.

DC 18 circumstance check to see if Rodolfo's crystal eyepatch stays fixed in place: 16. Fail by 5 or more and it falls off. Fail by less than 5 and the crystal moves and you are effectively blinded by it.
Rodolfo @ 10 <------ CURRENT TURN IN ROUND 1. You are not surprised, therefore you may avert your eyes (see OOC) as she approaches. If not, roll a DC 14 CON saving throw (with advantage due to the crystal, if it stays in place) before posting anything further.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rodolfo will go about trying to fix the Medusa in space by Wand of Viscid Globs: (1st roll) 12 (and 2nd if needed for disadvantage) 8. He will also cast Expeditious Retreat on himself and run away towards T15 or so.
A minor twitch of the eye is all it takes for Rodolfo's eye patch to slip ever so slightly, blocking his sight through that eye. The myths about looking at a Medusa bounce around in Rodolfo's head and he takes no chances. Pointing his Wand of Viscid Globs where he thinks the vile creature is, he takes a shot and prays. But his prayer is not answered, as the glob hardens a few feet away from his intended target. Without knowing of his failure, Rodolfo follows up with a quick spell and runs faster than a Gnome should be able to run.
