Rodolfo takes a few careful steps back to the open area and looks around.
"Ok, how do we go from here then. Beegred said there were earth elementals. Would it make sense to try to draw them out and fight them? Or should we instead try to be stealthy first? What if Beegred tries to place the thing in the right place stealthily and if it doesn't work then you run back here and we deal with whatever comes with?"
Beegred: "I was thinking about what Father Grumble told us to do." (Link to post 3058)
"He said after the gem is put on the mandolarian, three elementals named "gabel duhs" would show up, but would be vulnerable. Grumble said that we would have to defend them until they get to right spots.
"Normally, I'd be okay with sneaking ahead, but I think we want all hands on deck this time."

Rodolfo says, "Aha, I forgot the vulnerable part. We should all go then, yes. I also might have a new trick to help yourself or Skameros do more stuff. We'll see. I guess we will be right behind you then. Lead ahead."
He looks through his possessions. "Oh, I still have this magical dagger, but I guess nobody wanted it?"
You all gather your wits and your gear and prepare for another foray into the Rockblight. You follow Beegred down the stairs leading to the stone Menhir.
The floor of this cavern is worn smooth, but the walls are rough. A great menhir carved from a stalagmite stands in the center of the chamber, pockmarked with dozens of empty sockets that might once have held gems.
Beegred points out the large humanoid shapes, seemingly carved in bas-relief in the rough cave wall, yet obviously never carved. They remain motionless as you all enter and wander the chamber with the menhir.
(Place yourselves by giving me a coordinate. Whoever places the gem will have to be standing next to the Menhir.)
Beegred will take the +1 dagger from Rodolfo. (He will only use it about a 1/3rd of the time in combat, but it sounds like nobody else plans on using it.)
Beegred will try to get to O-15, assuming that is close enough to put the gem where it needs to go. He will also travel ahead of the group, and as quietly as possible. Stealth check: 25
(I assume the others are either on the stairs in the lower left of the map, or maybe a little bit in the room from those stairs? Somewhere they can watch the room and back up the halfling if his Observant Feat fails to notice something.)

Beegred hesitates with the gem in his hand, looking over his shoulder to see if the others are ready. As they wait expectantly, Beegred decides this is indeed going to happen, and he places the gem in one of the lower pock marks, the most convenient one.
At first nothing happens.
Then Narstin and Rodolfo begin to feel a malevolence, amplified tenfold by sheer anger. The swirling dust, driven by invisible gale force winds descends the stair behind them and tries to buffet their forms, to no avail.
Narstin stands in the swirling storm, feeling nothing at all. He reaches out to his deity for answers and remains just as clueless.
Rodolfo instinctively knows... feels... this is a being from another plane altogether. It doesn't belong on the material plane.
As the entity tries to buffet Narstin and Rodolfo uselessly, it changes strategy and begins to funnel towards the shape in the wall, next to Skameros. In moments, the form detaches from the wall as it plods forward like a walking hill, club-like arms of jagged stone swinging at its sides. Its head and body consist of dirt and stone, the eye sockets full of swirling dust.
Beegred is not happy. "More of that swirling stinky wind, whatever it is!" He moves to J16, casts Hunter's Mark on the moving rock pile, then attacks (including the extra first-round-only Dread Ambusher).

Rodolfo would be around J20, hoping to stay within about 25 feet of anyone who would be standing next to the menhir.
Skameros looks around the room trying to figure out a good place and decides on J17

Rodolfo would be more at J22 then.
