(At this point, if we assume the Black pudding is stuck, and the gnomes have crossed, do you want to keep fighting the black pudding until it's dead, or just leave with the gnomes? I will grant XP either way.)
Under a constant rain of thrown rock, the black pudding eventually loses concentration on the darkness spell. Once you can all see the creature again, you casually pelt it with more rocks until it succumbs into a puddle, adding it's essence to the pool of liquid that the gnomes have named the Ooze Highway.
(300xp each)
The remaining gnomes finish crossing, the last ones beginning to remove the makeshift bridge while throwing Narstin and Rodolfo questioning looks, waiting.
Beegred will suggest that Narstin and Rodolfo cross the bridge, unless they have a compelling argument for the group to stay north.
Easier to know when the gnomes are done working if the party is standing next to them, instead of guessing blindly from a far distance.

After Narstin and Rodolfo cross, the gnomes pull the bridge a short way down the tunnel and set it against the wall. The gnome train continues travelling for nearly an hour before arriving to a large natural cavern where the salt is mined. They get to work immediately and work diligently, yet extracting salt from the other unwanted substances is still slow work.
Over the course of the next work shift, the gnomes anxiously jump at every noise and shadow. You are constantly asked to investigate only to find mundane causes.
(In other words, you can take a short rest, but not a long one.)
Once all of the lizards have been fully loaded with bags of high quality salt, the gnomes signal your party with their intent to head back.
The return to the ooze highway has the gnomes on edge. Heading in, they could turn and flee back to the entrance. Now, they have no choice but to force their way across the highway if accosted. Their lizards are loaded down and less nimble, and the mined salt is badly needed by Blindgenstone. The gnomes constantly glance ahead at your party, with apprehension, suspicion and hope.
Reaching the ooze highway, the gnomes carry the makeshift bridge and drop it in place. Your party takes up their positions (see OOC thread) and the gnomes begin to cross. At first it looks promising, but after approximately one quarter of the gnomes have crossed, a large black pudding drops from the ceiling into the trench, mentally blasting everyone, "FLESH FOR THE FACELESS GOD!"
(If Beegred doesn't have line-of-sight where he is, then he will move to N13.)
Beegred: "Maybe the Faceless God is tired of flesh all the time. How about a change in diet, like this rock?" (Throws the rock in hand, at the pudding.)

This black pudding seems to absorb some of the slime and ooze in the trench to replenish itself. The minor wounds inflicted by the rock and cold fade away.
Seeing the ooze come within reach for him, Skameros pulls his battered greataxe off his back and swings at the creature. He's tired of dealing with these, and the dirt nomes.....
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Skameros tires of throwing rocks and swings his great axe at the ooze. Where the great axe cuts, the slash stretches out and splits the ooze into two. Skameros's axe burns and sizzles, the edge quite rounded (-1 to damage). To add injury to insult, when Skameros pulls his axe back, the acid drips off and splashes him for 2 acid damage. (Mistake, no acid damage since Skameros is 10 feet away, not 5 feet)
Skameros continues to urge the gnomes across the bridge keeping an eye on the new darkness that has appeared.
Looks around, grabs another rock and tosses it as where he seems to have been throwing the rocks this whole time....

Narstin takes Beegred's advice and crosses the bridge.
