Pocketing the coins Leto is pondering whether he'd prefer the job to be uneventful and easy, or a bit more exciting. Regardless he walks along the rest of the group keeping an eye out for.. well anything. PERCEPTION 4 ((clearly he's deep in his own thoughts :P))
About an hour passes and you can see the sun start to rise on the horizon, just a few hints of red mixed in with the dark night sky. The path is a well traveled one and because the size of the hamlet is not great, you’ve already reached the far side and are about halfway back. This patrol route you are on covers the northern half of the hamlet, and at its northern-most point, draws with a few 50 meters or so from the edge of the Cormanthor Forest.
It is as you approach this point that you all start to hear the echoing howls and yips of something in the woods.
If your perception roll is/was above 10, you realize the howls are moving closer. If you have not yet rolled perception for the patrol, please do so now.
((I'll say Leto doesn't even hear the wolves(?) yet. but if combat is imminent I'll preemptively roll initiative 17 just to save time. If it's not you can just ignore this
Also. For marching order, Leto would likely be in the middle of the group))
"There's some flickering coming from the woods," Hansel says as he draws his sword. He will keep his sword forward as he takes two steps toward the sound and the lights.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Agatha takes her pay happily as well as taking as much breakfast as she can before taking her watch for the day. She spends the time humming to herself, petting the pet mouse, and wandering about in general circles while enjoying the fresh air.
From the woods just north of your position six shadows slink out from the edge of the woods. You all see a small pack of wolves, looking lean with hunger, and they see you. Slowly they start to follow you.
"Unless we want to end up as dinner we may need to take care of those." as Leto acknowledges the wolves slinking towards the group and readies his himself to cast towards them.
((It's about bed time here, so assuming combat begins I'll just write my turn here and you can apply it when appropriate. If the others decide against it I'll go with that. I just don't want to slow everyone down while I sleep. Though if you prefer to just take this action as me starting combat that's ok too. He has no love for being dinner, or care to spare some wild wolves.))
Using the 17 Initiative from above, Leto would first hold one hand out towards the wolves, and above one of them a small dusting of sand would fall. bonus actionhex, disadvantage on dex checks. He would then, holding his staff off to the side, point his open hand towards one wolf and action cast eldritch blast at the now hexed wolf. Hearing a small thump sound a blast of magical sand would fly from his hand towards the wolf. Attack: 8 Damage: 10. Finally he will move away from wolves a bit for his movement.
Agatha, upon seeing the wolves and hearing Leto's words, calls out. "Wait, ya impulsive crud. Lemme try talkin' to 'em first? Maybe we can just send 'em on their way."
(OOC: Agatha has Speak with Animals, because she likes to chat with her mouse buddy, and could try and dissuade the wolves from attacking)
(More waiting on what the DM says. Agatha lost initiative to Leto, so didn't really have a chance at stopping him firing at the wolves, though since it didn't hit one they may take it as a warning shot sort of thing.)
Leto lets out a blast of sand which strikes short from the lead wolf, causing the beast to jump back and let out a growl.
Gnash, with the rising sun and with the distance between you and the wolves shrinking, you can now make out more details of the pack. You can see their ribs under their matted and burned fur. Along their bodies you catch fresh sunlight glinting off blood from fresh wounds.
Agatha, it’s your turn. Everyone who has yet to, roll initiative. The wolves are about 120 feet to your north, the fence is about 10 feet to your south running east and west.
Gnash eats the strips of dried meat after thanking the man and accepting the money given.
"Well, I've done worse for less. Time to work."
He straps his shield to his left arm and then starts to walk the path ahead, looking around for trouble.
